Last week, my brother and I were just celebrating the second anniversary of having met all you guys and seeing the Abbey Road performance at the Ziggo Dome. You were all so welcoming to us, and the show was spectacular. We're looking forward to being able to travel again so that we can come back and see you play again. A long way to go, but well worth it. Keep it up, you guys.
Just a wonderful insight into your background Diederik, and a little tiny bit of what you do when sorting out The Beatles music... Love everything you put out guys... thank you for your dedication..
Extraordinaria experiencia este viaje compartido. Wonderful video! Thanks for sharing stories, achievements, feelings and your great and deep love for The Beatles' music. You are the best!
Wonderful: I have now seen you 3 times (Norwich / Palladium / Abbey Road) and cannot wait for more. But meanwhile, this series is great, thank you. More, please!
Love the interview. I’ve been a Beatles fanatic since I was 6 I’m 63 now. Your band is phenomenal sometimes I actually choke up watching your dvds...my wife got all the concerts for my birthday recently. I’ve been playing bass for years & appreciate the details such as tone harmonies instruments etc. Lookin forward to Revolver album. Hopefully soon.
Other than being addicted to anything by the Analogues (and Beatles), I have come to see how much Stephen Stills has influenced me from the 1st 1966 Buffalo Springfield album through his solo stuff, CSN&Y and Manassas. So, I was tickled to find this video with Diederik singing one of Still's songs yesterday! th-cam.com/video/cHcj9E8bb24/w-d-xo.html I'm not surprised that this adds to my appreciation of Diederik and the Analogues! Happy 2022 to all of you!
Your video of Sgt Pepper album performance is amazing. The attention to detail and the use of actual original instruments (bass harmonica, melodion, tubular bells etc and even the organ) when you could get away with samples is truly impressive. Your transportation bill for all this gear must be enormous apart from anything else.
It is not (only) the transport costs that are extraordinarily high. It was and probably still is the acquisition costs for the instruments, amplifiers, loudspeakers, microphones, etc all of which are more or less original and date back to the 50s and 60s. Fred Gehring, the initiator and drummer of the Analogues has been CEO of Tommy Hilfiger in a former life, but then realised that he should finally do what he had wanted to do since he's been a teenager: to play the drums in a band. He quit his job, sold some of his Hilfiger shares and had 4 million dollars at his disposal. Whether Bart van Poppel (bassist and musical director) spent it all on equipment is not known ... ;-)
Diederik, I love your honesty and genuineness in describing a bit of your personality and your growth in music! Also makes me feel so much better about my own constant plateauing while learning to play the guitar; would love to see you perform live--when are you coming to Canada?! Detlef
Hi Detlef, thanks for your kind words! I hope we'll be playing Canada somewhere in the next couple of years, but that will depend on a lot of circumstances, as you no doubt understand.
Groet, Peter
You managed quite well making the piano solo in In My Life, in true speed, that’s quite difficult, George Martin had to slow down the tape speed to manage to making it👍
I was about to say you can hear on the record that the piano is double speed. (Recorded at half speed, so when speeded up it sounds more tinny with shorter decay )
George Martin made a programme on BBC Radio 2 where he explained how he played it on a piano, then played it back at double speed to make it sound more like a harpsichord. He was also able to demonstrate his point by playing the original recording at normal speed.
I never liked covers, at all. I never wanted to play covers, and that's the biggest reason I never went anywhere. But what you guys do is completely different.
Diederik is a very likable and talented musician with a great voice, getting all the high notes.

You're my favorite Analogue. Thank you for giving the Beatles to us in this way!

Geweldig verhaal hoe zo`n muzikaal leven loopt. Dank voor je inzet Diederik. Kon minder ;)
Superb musician!
Ben al jaren fan van Diederik, long may you run!
Right!
Estaremos pendientes del estreno por You Tube. Gracias.

Come to the US if you haven’t already!!

Diederik would you like to play here in Los Angeles in a near future?
Ótima banda. Estou ansioso. Apareçam logo!
Saudades da banda, cheguem logo, por favor
Very cool, will be interesting to see one of my favorite Musicians. My others are everyone else in The Anolouges!
This is awesome! Hope you will do the same with the other members.
Great!
Love this series. Please do one that features stage management and another one on the live mixing. 🤗🤞
Fantastic band !
Analogues! I'll get it right one of these times.
Gratidão
In My Life is hard because it was recorded at half speed and you're trying to reproduce the doubled speed playback tempo.

Ik ga kijken! Is dat inclusief Jan van der Meij?
Deze gaat alleen over Diederik, maar iedereen komt aan de beurt... Ook Jan (ergens in de komende weken)!
Cursing won't help you to get to heaven.
