What size of taps did you use for the drone reed seating? I suppose we need to ascertain our individual drone bore internal diameter first? What thread gauge do you recommend? In the UK we use "metric" in general, both course and fine gauge. Being a retired blacksmith I have access to BSF/BSW and several more and also pipe gauge threads (water/gas pipe). I appreciate your advice. Thanks, Ronald.
Here's what I use! The tape is there so to mark the depth. No need to go any deeper with the threads than the length of the hemped part of the reed. tinyurl.com/drone-taps
@ronaldbrown1852 I just did mine. 10mm for tenors and I used 7/16" for bass. I can hold the lower section by the Reed and it is in there solid. It was much easier than I thought it would be.
