New to piping , just took up my grandfathers pipes. And having a go but so hard to teach yourself.. thank you so much for your videos they are so helpful please keep making them
@@KyleBantaMusic There are no labels and the bladder is hand stitched leather. I bought in tbe UAE at a,very local traditional fair from a traditional music craftsman. They are very well made though. The reeds in the drones are split cane or Reed.
Very Nice video :) I have McCallum AB4 set since couple of years, Zipper Bannatyne bag, everything is set the best way i can, but it's been si many years i cannot have that power sound from the chanter itself. my Low A is correctly tuned with my drones, Low A is about 484 Hz, but definitely not that powerful sound as you. If you know the solution, i'd be happy to have some help :) Cheers Clem
@@KyleBantaMusic i’m using Canning drone reeds, which sounds very good on my pipe, and shepherd medium on my McCallum Chanter, but sound from the chanter, is definitely not as powerful and straight as yours. Just tape on few holes (D and high A)
@@KyleBantaMusic original canning brand (grey/brown one), chanter is as old as the pipe, from 2008. I also have brand new G1 chanter, which i tried with G1 platinium reed, same sound, definitely not as powerful as yours
A shoulder strap is not needed. Novice pipers will sometimes opt to have a sponge or other cushion material that the bass drone can lay against till they adjust to the pipes. There is a bit of a dip between the base of the neck and the shoulder bone that the drone can position in.
@@KyleBantaMusic Dont have any information about it but it looks rather fancy: carved wooden pipes with chrome rings and colorful material. Can I send you a picture of it?

As long as you keep playing your pipes regularly, all is well. If you leave them for any length of time please listen to this laddies tutorial!
Thanks so much! Yes, consistency/regular playing is key.
Thank you. Excellent for a newbie

@KyleBantaMusic The chanter makes sounds but the drones don't work?

What drone reeds are you using?

Ok. Do you know how old the chanter is? Also, which version of canning? Blue, original?

When you say powerful, are you referring to the volume?
Why is there not a shoulder strap to hold it in place?

@@KyleBantaMusic Thanks! I got a bagpipe at a flea market but it doesn't have any reeds so I'm trying to get it functional🙂
It really depends on the type and quality of bagpipe it is. Did the seller give any info about the make or brand?

Absolutely! Send it to kyle@bantamusic.com.
What is the price
600+. Anything less than 600 is questionable and frankly something to avoid.
