I was obsessed with this in my preteens, When it came out in 96 I had to watch it A LOT I still love it to this day. I STILL LOVE hearing Michael shouting give it to em to his army this was so fun to watch it still is
I'm 35 years old now and I still remember the feelings I got when I first watched this when I was little. I was so captivated and even more so now watching this later on in life. I love the small details they put in such as making Don and his troop's taps sound darker than Michael's, to the acting and the stares and shouting. The whole performance is just unreal. I'm walking down the aisle to 'Stolen Kiss'. and am having an Irish band playing. All this stemmed from watching Riverdance and Lord of the Dance as a child. I cannot wait.
Sorry, Flatley... Your angry gestures are nothing compared to the Don's silent stares. That man always gave me the shivers. Stunning performance - by everyone!
Re-Watching all of this and reliving my childhood. Completely reinforces that nothing solves conflict like a good old fashioned dance off :3 Love it aha!
I remember watching this show for the first time in my dance class at school and how amazing and beautiful and creative it was that I asked for it for Christmas (I think, which was on VHS!! (I know it dates me), but I just found it completely amazing! Now I have it on DVD but one of my all-time favorite dances wasn't on it which is a HUGE bummer, but I still have the VHS one that maybe I can find a way to get it switched to a DVD!
You show was fantastic, amazing and perfectly, but so shame I have not become a chance to see you one first in my life. 😧👍❤❤❤❤i love you all LOTD and miss you
The manliest men I've ever seen are ballet dancers. The core strength and control it needs are beyond most sports men. Ballet dancers sustain injuries like broken toes and bloody feet and keep on dancing, nothing manlier than that.
Me sitting in the food court at lunch doing my best not to yell "LEAVE HER ALON3 YOU BIG BULLY....YES! YES! YOU TEACH THAT BULLY WHO'S BOSS" I'll never grow up as long as I live.
I just can't get behind the new show at all... as someone who use to do competitive Irish dance... I don't like the new soundtrack for the most recent show and the costumes I found horrible. I will always watch either this or feet of flames.
Great! But when the bad guy breaks her flute in two, you can actually see, that he's pulling it in two instead of crushing it on his knee. Still an awesome thing, its just funny to notice.
Is it just me, or do the guys sound like they're saying "They don't drink car!" at 6:57? I know it sounds completely ridiculous! Realistically, they may be counting to 4 in Gaelic before they advance to the "fight."
@purpleheart3000 Play.com stock the old and the new DVD have a look and see what you can find... I've just had a look and the old one is on the to buy :)x
I think doesn't Michael wear tap shoes sometimes to get a better clear louder sound.? But he does Irish dancing with them not tap dance. Cause they sound different to everyone else's shoes. Hmm :P
@purpleheart3000 There is a dvd of his latest one from either last year or the year before and it is even better than this one because of the effects they have on the stage. You can get it at HMV i think
@amber13wings i´m doing irish dancing atm. it´s pretty hard to learn the first steps but what comes after that is a piece of cake. my teacher still wants me to do a few routine lessons and then, she said, she will teach me the "warriors" piece ;D
@MissImagination92 What about this one? The 1996 one? I like this one the way it is(and I've always been a sucker for old stuff), but do they make/sell it anymore? Could I get it anywhere(and/or for free)?
1piazzola I agree. In fact they all took this on another level in “Feet of Flames”. I guess this was nerves and how the crowd was going to react. Everyone was a lot better in “FoF”.
I felt so sorry for the spirit when the dark lord and his henchmen broke the spirit's whistle I'd be like SPIRIT LOOK OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and i have always wondered in the middle of the dance off do they say pay your drink cow? or is it pay your drink coward?
Hell's Kitchen is not the same without the ominous male choir singing in the background. The "priests" in the background are just the women in cloaks which doesn't seem right to me...
I wish I could find the missing songs from the album version. We are missing "Gaelic Song", "Dangerous Game", "Hell's Kitchen" and "The Duel". Does anyone know where to find them? Feel like my soundtrack is incomplete without them! :)
Had this performance on VHS when I was a kid. It's lovely being able to watch it again!
Same here! 😍
My Nan had it, was mesmerised the first time i seen it

This was my favorite thing to watch in my early years. I'm only just now realizing that the story is basically Irish Karate Kid haha
Sorry, Flatley... Your angry gestures are nothing compared to the Don's silent stares. That man always gave me the shivers. Stunning performance - by everyone!
+CazuhLynn you mean Daire?
***** Yupp, but somehow I always refer to him as Don Dorcha. Don't know why. :D
CazuhLynn I can imagine why lol. I mean he really looks like a dark lord
***** He does!!
CazuhLynn he's been one of my heroes ever since my childhood :)
Re-Watching all of this and reliving my childhood. Completely reinforces that nothing solves conflict like a good old fashioned dance off :3 Love it aha!
Haha... Thats where hip hop started, the good old mash.
Hey!! Let's see if we can convince the presidential candidates for 2024 to do a dance off, instead of a regular debate !!! Lol !! 😂
Best Riverdance video ever
Daire Nolan will always be my favorite !
5:58 Idk why but hearing Michael saying “Come on, now, give it to him! Give it to him!” is one of my favorite bits of this whole performance.
SO AMAZING! Haven't seen this since VHS! STILL AMAZING!!!!
To be honest I would have broken her flute too! Brings back so many memories from
When I was younger x
That would be so scary to be the little spirit, she's probably between 8 & 10, and to have eight huge guys towering over you would be very scarring..
I´ve seen it when i was young .... now (15 years later) i found it and it´s so amazing !!!!! I got goose bumps
JassiChan13 we're in the same thing👋
All those forearms *swoon* 😍
All these years later and I still can't decide which I adore more this scene in Lord of the Dance or Feet of Flames...
Not gonna lie, if some guys in purple masks would just suddenly start to agressively riverdance at me i would be scared out of my mind.
I remember watching this show for the first time in my dance class at school and how amazing and beautiful and creative it was that I asked for it for Christmas (I think, which was on VHS!! 9:43 love the audience reaction when he fixed her flute
Incredibly gorgeously good!!! I love it!
This is such good quality! Thanks so much for posting!
I like it when the lord of the dance stares at the bad guy as if to say you mess with the spirit you mess with me!!!!!!!!!!!
This show was the reason i bought dvd home video about 20 years ago.
Still here in 2023. Still the best show yet 💕
I just realized those guys totally remind of Team Rocket trying to steal the little golden yellow pikachu.
thank you PBS .
TY SO MUCh for this upload. I didnt know the name anymore from this piece and now finaly found it again
love this. flute is lovely
A life lesson in a 10 minute dance off
My favorite dance fighting scene of the entire show
You show was fantastic, amazing and perfectly, but so shame I have not become a chance to see you one first in my life. 😧👍❤❤❤❤i love you all LOTD and miss you
une belle illustration par la danse de la violence, du combat entre le bien et le mal ...
hey guys! it is gonna be 20 years since Michael Flatley did lord of the dance!!!!
Queue the manliest dance off you've ever witnessed...(I use the term manly very loosely but you get it)
The manliest men I've ever seen are ballet dancers. The core strength and control it needs are beyond most sports men. Ballet dancers sustain injuries like broken toes and bloody feet and keep on dancing, nothing manlier than that.
@EDWARDC11 I'm really sorry to hear that.. I can't even imagine.. But I am glad that you found something uplifting to you.. it always helps. =)
Yes, they are counting to 4 in Irish, i think it is.
Dangerous Game and Hell's Kitchen are the names of the dances :)
@MsAmbrosia29 Her name was Helen Egan. And yes, I've always liked that role. :D
fantatish mooie show
Me sitting in the food court at lunch doing my best not to yell "LEAVE HER ALON3 YOU BIG BULLY....YES! YES! YOU TEACH THAT BULLY WHO'S BOSS" I'll never grow up as long as I live.
That baddie is so badass
I like Lord of the dance from Rhiannon xxxxx😀😀😇🤗
They made "the bad guys" look like a joke in the 2011 version. So sad.
Meli agreed
I just can't get behind the new show at all... as someone who use to do competitive Irish dance... I don't like the new soundtrack for the most recent show and the costumes I found horrible. I will always watch either this or feet of flames.
I did NOT like the newer versions, I liked this one
Love you LORD OF THE DANCE ♥
you solve every duel with a dance off
is there any increase of best??..there is.....this video proves that...
I wasnt born for another 2 months and 18 days when this came out. :o
5:27 The power of the warriors came to the top.
Great! But when the bad guy breaks her flute in two, you can actually see, that he's pulling it in two instead of crushing it on his knee. Still an awesome thing, its just funny to notice.
That melody on flute is Simple Gifts isn't it.

Уникално!!!!
She always reminded me of Eastender's Natalie, when she first appeared on the show
Same here!
6:41-6;50. Are the Lord of Dance's hands crossed or not?

Daire Nolan is far more scary in "Feet of flames."
1piazzola I agree. In fact they all took this on another level in “Feet of Flames”. I guess this was nerves and how the crowd was going to react. Everyone was a lot better in “FoF”.
Wait, where's Gordon Ramsly?
and i bet he would say are you ready for a bloody dance of !?!?!??!?!?!? then let the bloody dance of begen yeh ?!!?
@@nathanjoerndt8804 Hell's Kitchen is about anger and rage.
The bad guy and Flatley used the hells kitchens origins for their battle grounds before Ramsay was born, lol
@ThajyKuttie It's not tap dancing, its irish dancing
Is this on dvd somewhere please tell meeeeeeeee!!!!!!
the guys who broke her flute are the bad guys lol
what's the melody at 09:00?
Sounds like the little spirit is playing "Simple Gifts" on her whistle?
I felt so sorry for the spirit when the dark lord and his henchmen broke the spirit's whistle I'd be like SPIRIT LOOK OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and i have always wondered in the middle of the dance off do they say pay your drink cow? or is it pay your drink coward?
"amháin, dhá, trí, ceathair", which is Irish
for "one, two, three, four". :)
Ahh!!!!!
Wait a minute! i hear something different!!! listen again!
So there is two different movies right here. Oh my God. A musical for one... But with feet. Another... Lord of the dance.... With shotguns.
I like the music you could tell me how is called pliz ..
@MissImagination92 Thanks! I got it through Amazon, but Play.com was a good idea too!
@Jakaflaka123 ohh you made me LOL
Piggy in the middle lol!!
@copengie4 It's just a celtic knot. Has nothing to do with the swastika which originally stems from India.
Remind you of a bully in your life, in our world???
صراع بين الخير والشر
@EDWARDC11 I'm so sorry about your wife :(
Hell's Kitchen is not the same without the ominous male choir singing in the background. The "priests" in the background are just the women in cloaks which doesn't seem right to me...
They broke her flute. They are the good guys, right?
I wish I could find the missing songs from the album version. We are missing "Gaelic Song", "Dangerous Game", "Hell's Kitchen" and "The Duel". Does anyone know where to find them? Feel like my soundtrack is incomplete without them! :)
Strangely enough it's on the Feet of Flames Album😅
