      Hard to say. Life is complicated. What you commented on is difficult. The word you used just means a person that has a deal with another person.
      Problem is what is the deal?
      Then your going to answer. Then my next question is going to be.
      Is that your projection of what a deal looks like? Do you think everyone's deal is identical?

      I don't recall seeing that lingering touch when it happened. It really does say it all... wow! But after reading her book, and moving to LA and meeting people who knew her and grew up with her, I really felt bad for her. She truly loved him and yes, they had a relationship and he was awful to her. And Linda Tripp is the most horrible person in the world! The whole situation ruined her life and many people then saw the Clintons for who they really are!

The common sense thing would have been to quietly move Lewinsky elsewhere.

      @storytel27 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Maristella What she did wasn’t horrible. It was HOW she did it. She knew that by ousting Clinton like that...that it would definitely affect Monica. Monica thought she was a true friend. Her future was just starting. Sure she knew what she was doing but Clinton was the real bad guy here. THAT’S where the betrayal on Tripp’s part comes in at. Clinton deserved it. One thing people are forgetting yes she was young and made some wrong decisions but she also went there with the idea she's find someone of power to get close to. I remember George Stepanopolis once saying in an interview that he told the people around him to keep her away from him and she flirted with Clinton and he took advantage of her advances which he shouldn't have done. He saw his relationship as nothing more than a fling and she felt betrayed that he didn't take it more seriously in how he addressed it in his book. In one sense I feel sorry for her and in another sense I don't because she went there looking for it and it didn't get her what she really wanted but what she did get was betrayal by someone she considered to be a friend who was only looking to bring down the Clinton presidency and used Monica to accomplish that. She's not a victim even though she wants to betray herself as one. The real issue here is that it ruined her life because society shunned her when it all came out and she didn't get the career she expected to have.

If every girl received that kind of twenty year sentence for being naiive stupid and wanting the attention of an older powerful man ( whether based on the crush for your school teacher, uni professor, first boss or the president) half of the women in the western world would suffer unknown consequences. People should feel bad for her as I don't know that an indiscretion at such a young and naiive age with a man who is old enough to know better and to be your father should not have been 100 percent his fault...and he has never suffered ANYTHING significant in his life...we need to start being supporters of young women and not be victim blamers. So at the time President Clinton was almost 50 years old, and she was 22. Sorry, but any person in a position of power like that should understand that they would be taking advantage of the younger individual. It’s inappropriate to the extreme. He could literally have been her father in terms of age difference. I feel nothing but compassion for Monica Lewinsky and I hope that she achieves a great deal of success moving forward.

    I blame Clinton more than her, however, getting involved with a married man is never good! Being in 'love' doesn't justify it nor does threatening the President in order to keep the relationship intact. Bill Clinton was obviously feeling disconnected with Hillary otherwise he wouldn't have been looking for a relationship outside the marriage. However, that is no excuse for the affair either. Lying about the affair didn't justify the relationship nor attacking her character. Sadly these two are going to be living with a decision they both made that wasn't good!

What I think is so sad about this issue is that people either blame Bill or Monica. They were 2 consenting adults. We would not even know about this if Linda Tripp had not secretly recorded the convos between her and Monica, so Tripp is the snake here. But people go after either Bill or Monica based on their political persuasion.

While Monica was not entirely innocent, Bill Clinton is much more culpable than she is in this. He should have known better yet acted with such indiscretion, not only with her, but several other women. I'm glad she pulled thru this ordeal and speaks out now about the lessons she's learned.....

    My heart goes out to her yes, but I'm thinking she should never have been an intern in the first place. She got where she was by family connections, not merit. He was basically unscathed because of his privilege, but she became an intern for the same reasons. If she had achieved it by a true career aspiration she may not have participated in a dalliance that could be life-ruining for her.

I've never understood why someone who has an internship with a president of a country would even be thinking of doing something so frivolous as fooling around with the president? I mean with an opportunity like that not even the sky is the limit for you. I don't believe anyone who genuinely worked hard to get that internship would have wasted it like that.
