- When it comes to rare and special JDM 90's Honda Civic's, nothing really comes close to the SiR. The best Honda had ever released before the Type R came to be. Sold only to themselves in Japan, this Civic EG6 SiR is unlike any EG Civic found around the globe. However, this particular example has to be one of the craziest barn finds ever in Honda history.

Very cool. In Europe we also got this version, but it was called the VTI. It had the B16A2 engine, same style seats (different color) and the same compartments in the boot.
I was thinking the same thing when watching the video. Someone missed the homework. 😄
We also got the EG VTI in Jamaica. My friend bought one here brand new and i bought an EG 3 in 1993 and i still have mine now as my every day drive.
Yeahh here in Portugal we had a bunch of eg9s vti´s.
Most of them are dead or rusted out :/

I like the happy go lucky energy I get from the design. During this time many adverts of all sorts had young people in beach ware with a vacation fun type of vibe and this car gen has that in it's design. Directional wheels and hubcaps was considered fun and modern and square shaped anything was out dated, I think EF civics, CRXs and DAs would soon be very undesirable after this wave hence how rare they are now. Shows like Beverly hills 90210, home improvement, Save by the Bell and Bay watch were on TV. Meanwhile in Japan this car was seen as a well designed tool in the hand of a skilled or sometimes unskilled driver (because they're forgiving). Thanks for all your hard work Clay especially the things you do for the Honda community. 🤜🏾🤛🏾🔰🏎️🇺🇸🇯🇲.

Here in europe we had a bunch of EG9 and some eg6s.
Nowadays its crazy hard to find an eg6 out here and they are selling for more than 9k euros easily.
Since we had more eg9s they are easier to get and they are half of the price of the eg6.
THis is probably my dream car, eg6, white, original wheels with hubs... damm

I was hunting for a good one of these back in the mid-90s but couldn't find one with the right price, spec, mileage, and especially colour (all I could find were red ones) Eventually I gave up and got a Celica GT4, which admittedly was better in pretty much every regard, but I still wish I'd owned one of these. I'm now running an FN2 Type R which I intend to keep as a future classic, JDM via Swindon 😁

After every single TH-cam title post as barn find, I assume every time I see a barn there must be a rare car inside. Statics say!
This hits me right in the feels. I owned 2 eg6s back in NewZealand many years ago. My second being my most beloved, completely worked, b18c1 with forged Internals (no sleeves) and pushing 400hp at the wheels. I could tell you every bolt size and procedure to remove and put back any part on this car. I dreamed and loved this model since the age of 17yo when my brother bought home his first eg9 civic. A decade later phasing through life with my eg6, it came to a necessary but regretful sale and move to Melbourne to start a new life, I now find new joy in my Mazdaspeed 3 but with still no comparison to what I loved and drove back home.
Moral of my story. I want my Honda back.

Did the plastics last or deteriorated over time? Seals etc?
Honda seals have no planned obsolescence and they can last for not years but decades! It is not uncommon to find the original seals and plastics lasting several decades.
Not to boast but many plastic components even in the engine compartments do not even seem to age, even though they are subjected to extreme temperatures and fast acting severe temperature swings too (from engine hot to freezing cold in the winter).
If manufacturers are honest our cars would be lasting far longer with a fraction of the maintenance. 90's Honda is the closest to the peak of what motor vehicles should be.

Except it’s been crashed and not repaired properly. There’s rust under it he front fenders and along the side skirts. The door doesn’t shut flush and the engine misfires lol😅. Oh and no paperwork supporting the kms are genuine.
In Europe you could also buy an eg 6 with a b16a2 engine,called vti.
With the same equipment (trunk etc).
However, they had no lsd but abs.

That interior wasn't specific to the EG6. Anything optioned with the Gathers rear speakers got that style.

Hopefully the owner will never sell to America. In 5 years, that car will have multi-color front end, with a d-series engine and of course slammed to the ground scraping everything. Americans should just stick to their muscles and low riders. We don't deserve cars like this.
