This brings back memories...or should I say nightmares. I actually got washed off this crossing in my work car approx. 35 years ago.......just a tad scary. Worked in Arnhem Land for 10-12 years and been across this crossing many many many times.....sometimes with the water above the bonnet level....not normally a problem as long as it's not fast flowing or nighttime. The car that I unwisely decided to tow across floated and that was also the end of my car as it got pulled in backwards, both cars went totally underwater with just the roof rack of my vehicle above the waterline as it landed on top of his car. Just very lucky the crocs were not hungry that day ... Eric the territorial male croc at the time ended up in the Darwin Croc farm and I have visited him a few times to thank him for not being hungry on that day...not sure if he is still alive today. Just goes to show that it only takes the one mistake, and it can escalate very quickly. PS - there were nowhere near as many crocs back then, so if it happened today, it might have been a totally different story PPS - but the scariest time was when I crossed at approx. 10pm and once my headlights and bulbar spotlights went underwater it was pitch black while I crossed....I never made that mistake again.
Stupid people who just don’t listen to instructions. Why would you go through that crossing at that time especially with a child in the car. Lucky they didn’t lose that boy
I haven't done as many crossings there as you, but have done a few, and there is absolutely NO WAY I could have attempted to drive across...wait a couple of hours for the water level to drop, instead the driver put everyone else's lives and vehicle at risk, while he sat in his seat! Big, brave hero (NOT)!!
The driver should be the one getting out . To the young man who got out the passenger side you saved your lives . One slip you were gone .. Guys on and inside the Ute you just saved 2 young men’s life 😊
The idiot who drove his car through should of got out on the bonnet not sent his kid what happens if he slipped and fell in the water he would have no hope with all those crocs so bloody irresponsible
In this case the river was actually flowing too fast to safely cross........the first vehicle actually floated slightly near the end of the crossing and the second car was just going too fast and got a gut full of water...but as you will see from my other post....it only takes the one time that you make a mistake.
0:30 Car cops a gut-full of water through air intake. No snorkle🙄. why some people do this has got me beat. even i know NOT to go NEAR flooded crossings, especially with Crocs around. CRAZY
The crocodiles here are very intelligent. They know human beings travel in cars here and they know how to create situations to get the cars stuck and then prey on the human beings.
My stomach feels so squeeze watching that video. Absolute heros the guys that lent a hand to rescue the stuck four wheel drive. The young guy who tired the rope onto the bull bar is worth his weight in gold. Well done all. Xx
Wow! How about those crocs watching and waiting, yikes. Thanks to the guys who risked their own lives & gear to help the absolute idiots. I know time was precious but I'd have also attached an anchor-line to the front of the rescue car.
A for helping, F for throwing and U as in unclassified for stupidity in the first place. The crocs surely thought they were on a winner there, they must have been chomping at the bit.
Lol you think a snorkel is going to help them when they're in the river with heavy tide pushing them towards the crocs. I swear some ppl just don't have common sense lmao 🤦♂️
Crossed Cahill's many times, at this time of the year the crossing is often dry except the occasional puddle. If you are crossing when there is water, at least choose the out going tide. You might have some hope of the boulders saving you and the water is on its way out.
That looks an awful lot like the Arnhem highway across mary river b4 corroboree Darwin NT! Where Mary river is to b exact! I had to wait 3 days to get through in my little silver carola! If it is that same crossing... It would've been right in the middle of wet season when this was filmed. Coz it wasnt that high when i tried to do it in my carola at the beginning of wet season!
Never attempt a river crossing alone. Always make sure you have backup. The best thing would have been to wait for low tide. I'm glad everyone is safe.
Dude for real i would have stayed on solid dry ground and waited 10 hours if i had to for that water to drop! I would choose getting eaten by mozzies then getting eaten by crocs!! That's absolutely nuts! 💯
Maybe instead of filming people that are in trouble you should do what you can to Help. If that car floated down stream. And you’re standing there recording. What does that say?
It's not the computers, it's the stupidity of the driver, who is NOT computer controlled...maybe he/she should be! Now he put the lives of the blokes in the ute, as well as his young passenger, at risk and who knows what damage was done to the ute.
No Brains all risk dam lucky the guys were there with th extra rope and could pull him before any more water presuure locked him in there. The rope thrower needs some practice though.
Yeah then with the coalition disolved Pierre would day Oh Jagmeet about that Pension deal..I was kidding after all I listened to you all lie every question I figured Id save my lie with the most beneficial outcome for Canadians. All I did was apply good ole common sense😅
Been there done that. When we crossed after storing up the community, the rocks wernt even visible. But we crossed it at neap tide (no current). In a 4wd panteck truck with two nissan patrols on board, so high and heavy,. Water was lapping at the floor boards of the truck though, i was in one of the patrols, still shit myself though. Before we crossed we seen those crocs there take out a large buffalo bull.
This brings back memories...or should I say nightmares.

Those crocs definitely new what was up. Patiently waiting for that 1 slip up but very stupid to try and cross a flowing river without a snorkel.
Meals on wheels👍
😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
A big bowl of fruit loops
Geez that young man.....only has big things in store for him. What a legend. That is one terrifying experience.
Thanks for helping those people safe to the other side, Hope you all have a safer fun trip to where ever your destination ends.
From what I saw there It will not be a long trip...!! Unbelievable stupidity all round, even down to the idiot towing the vehicle out at that speed.
Stupid people who just don’t listen to instructions.
Why would you go through that crossing at that time especially with a child in the car.
Lucky they didn’t lose that boy
Maybe a gate to stop crossings during high tides?
This is so stupid. Risking peoples lives that are trying to help get them out. This I why people die because of idiots like this.
I've been across that crossing hundreds of times, but people need to respect the crossing and there own limitations
Have you crossed at high tide?
I haven't done as many crossings there as you, but have done a few, and there is absolutely NO WAY I could have attempted to drive across...wait a couple of hours for the water level to drop, instead the driver put everyone else's lives and vehicle at risk, while he sat in his seat! Big, brave hero (NOT)!!
Far out! Talk about a tense situation, rising water surrounded by crocs, no thanks 😳
Our hearts were racing watching this too
huge salties too! just lurkin about waitin for lunch
Omg!!!!!! My heart was in my mouth. I don't know if there are enough words to describe what I would've said to the idiot who decided to go across!!!
Hopefully this video prevents others from making such a crazy choice
The driver should be the one getting out . To the young man who got out the passenger side you saved your lives . One slip you were gone .. Guys on and inside the Ute you just saved 2 young men’s life 😊
Hard to watch and not feel for that kid that’s for sure - so fortunate to get out of that one alive!
@@TheFeelGoodFamily That clip will make news all over the world that’s as close as it gets
Those boys learnt a huge life lesson right there. That could of easily had a real bad ending.
I’d be buying a lotto
If they are stupid enough to be there in the first place, they're too stupid to learn anything , be skitting about it at the pub later.
Lotto... buying a snorkel would be a better option
@@adamfuller6829understanding that tide goes up, tide goes down; and the virtue of patience would be an even better option
The idiot who drove his car through should of got out on the bonnet not sent his kid what happens if he slipped and fell in the water he would have no hope with all those crocs so bloody irresponsible
Shocking situation to put yourself in
The crocs are just casually waiting on the sidelines watching waiting for there meal to slip there way
In this case the river was actually flowing too fast to safely cross........the first vehicle actually floated slightly near the end of the crossing and the second car was just going too fast and got a gut full of water...but as you will see from my other post....it only takes the one time that you make a mistake.
0:30 Car cops a gut-full of water through air intake. No snorkle🙄. why some people do this has got me beat. even i know NOT to go NEAR flooded crossings, especially with Crocs around. CRAZY
Some people do some pretty stupid stuff.
So relieved that it didn’t end up a headline!!
Those crocks are even more hungry knowing their food as gone 🤣🤣🤣
The crocodiles here are very intelligent. They know human beings travel in cars here and they know how to create situations to get the cars stuck and then prey on the human beings.
Yes crocs control the river level with a lever. They see car coming they hit lever and raise water level up very savvy
Oh my goodness, so scary and dangerous!
Hard to understand really - but hopefully prevents others from making this choice
My stomach feels so squeeze watching that video. Absolute heros the guys that lent a hand to rescue the stuck four wheel drive. The young guy who tired the rope onto the bull bar is worth his weight in gold. Well done all. Xx
The crocs are like "Fck.....that one got away."
Talk about nuts, low tide the crossing is only a couple of inches deep. He was so lucky not to get washed in.
We just can’t believe why you’d cross and risk so much?!
That could have turned out really bad!!! Very lucky!!
Those guys are lucky to survive that situation
Crazy , crazy stuff . All that sea water the car is driving and sitting in . With a tide flowing in the crocs are now looking for their dinners .
Thinking,s not for everyone 🤔 why take such a stupid risk !
Wow! How about those crocs watching and waiting, yikes. Thanks to the guys who risked their own lives & gear to help the absolute idiots. I know time was precious but I'd have also attached an anchor-line to the front of the rescue car.
Gee they were lucky, the crocs had their eye on them & were lining up!
A for helping, F for throwing and U as in unclassified for stupidity in the first place. The crocs surely thought they were on a winner there, they must have been chomping at the bit.
No words ...
No snorkel as well, not the sharpest tools in the shed
Lol you think a snorkel is going to help them when they're in the river with heavy tide pushing them towards the crocs. I swear some ppl just don't have common sense lmao 🤦♂️
Quite clearly in the video, one car made it, and I have been through similar crossings
I did that crossing a couple of times last year. Don't go quick so not to push water through the grill and keep your revs up.
Thats some heavy death defying off road right there….
Well that was a stressful 8 minutes of my life😂😂
Seriously need to work out a way to stop crossings during high tide! Such a fortunate outcome this time
Well that was a bit bloody tense to say the least 😳
Heart stopping!!
Seeing if there are any specials on or just Barramundi

I’ve seen some idiots but these take the cake!
They were so lucky, hopefully will think twice next time
Hopefully it also prevents others from taking this risk
How stupid are some people, looking for a Darwin Award
Honoring the namesake of the city they'd just left
My god I was holding my breath. If that had been us, words would have been had if my husband attempted that 😬 that’s just terrifying.
Crazy!
Hopefully videos like this prevent others from making this choice
Another 10 minutes and they would of been Dinner 🐊 🍽️🐊
Anyone else holding their breath? Lol ❤️🇦🇺🦘
People laughing while livesin danger
That’s crazy why put their family at risk. They were lucky those guys saved them
Yes agreed! Hopefully this video makes others think twice
Why the hell isn't there a bridge there. That crossing looks like a nightmare
No snorkel?
Unfortunately intelligence doesn't come with a drivers licence.
Wow you safe🎉
Never attempt a river crossing alone.
Always make sure you have backup.

I'm glad everyone is safe.

Meanwhile, in Straya.. This goose needs an honourable mention in the year's Darwin awards
Trying to cross that without a snorkel is pretty special
They were so lucky ! They most definitely cheated death
Lucky it didn’t rip the bumper off 😂
Poor crocks they had their napkins tucked in knives and forks ready and nothin
Maybe instead of filming people that are in trouble you should do what you can to
Help. If that car floated down stream. And you’re standing there recording. What does that say?
What would you have done to help?
Yeah nahhh 🦘🦈🐊🐊
Wot a load of ⚓..
Has the bridge been invented in Australia yet?
That was just stupid.
just plain dumb, no snorkle, no pre-attached snatch strap, seems like they were asking for trouble
I don’t trust these new cars with computers in deep water..
It's not the computers, it's the stupidity of the driver, who is NOT computer controlled...maybe he/she should be! Now he put the lives of the blokes in the ute, as well as his young passenger, at risk and who knows what damage was done to the ute.
Exactly!! Too fast, pushing a gut full of water into the airbox, not to mention the fan destruction... car would be a total writeoff.
Entertaining video but the rope throwing was hilariously bad. Was like watching a prime minister trying to bowl.
The Crocs are there to clean up the stupid people 🐊🐊
They need a winch here ,no they need brains here
Brains before a winch. That was sheer stupidity!
No Brains all risk dam lucky the guys were there with th extra rope and could pull him before any more water presuure locked him in there. The rope thrower needs some practice though.
It's called evolution, the crocs will just remove the lower end of the gene pool.
Build a bridge.
I feel sorry for the Crocs. Not a huge meal split three ways, but my god the meat was thick...!!
More money then brains.
Meals on wheels !
Unfortunately people have died fishing and crossing here and still people take the risk - just crazy
Play stupid games and get stupid prizes
No
Not a smart move. The fact that crocs wait downriver basically ur dead if the car slips off the road from the current u will drown or worse yet 🤔
More like caymans crossing or croc crossing lol
Crocs?bugger
Yeah then with the coalition disolved Pierre would day Oh Jagmeet about that Pension deal..I was kidding after all I listened to you all lie every question I figured Id save my lie with the most beneficial outcome for Canadians. All I did was apply good ole common sense😅
Smh
Cheating intelligence.
But also yes very stupid and they shouldn’t have done it as they don’t have the right mods
Liar
Ok
Well don't watch or follow go and troll somewhere else

I crossed Calvert river without a snorkel. 80 series nearly under water
testament to stupidity
