Awesome Cow Striper on such light tackle Dana!! I thought maybe you had a Cat to start with..lol..Great fishing brother and I hope you got some good sleep after!!
It depends on what I see on my fish finder. If I see fish near the bottom, I will bounce it on the bottom. If they are suspended, I will count it down to their depth and start working it.
This the Rod you got? I need a good casting rod and not ready to do the loomis…I see several zbone varieties..you using this one? Thanks for the great show man! Casting / 4 MH Medium-Heavy Fast / 7' 0"
That day I was using 3/16 oz, but I always have several rods with me that have different size jigs. It depends on depth and wind speed mostly, but sometimes they just prefer a certain size.
I believe I was using a 1/4 oz that day because I was fishing deeper water. I always have several rods with me all rigged with different size jigs so I don't have to re tie so much.
You started the day off right with that monster. Your laugh says it all!
That's the way I like to start a day!
Wow that first one was some battle!! Nice job!
Thanks PH! They are so powerful!
I really appreciate your “keep it simple “ philosophy. Seems to work for you.
It has served me well over the years.
Dana, excellent vid as always, you caught some good ones, enjoyed it
Thanks 👍 The fishing is behind schedule, it should get good any day now.
@@FCPFishing I can’t wait, really looking forward to a comeback in march
nice fight on that first one, Dana! I’ve seen a good bit of debris mid lake too. At least water back full in time for spawn coming. 👍
If they will just keep some of that water and not let it all go down stream!
Mixed bag today, those were nice fish!
I sure enjoyed catching them!

Thanks 👍 No cats yet this winter, which is unusual for me. I have a feeling thats going to change pretty soon.
What a beautiful fish!
I agree! I think they are magnificent!
Dad says ten to twelve and eight or nine! Good ones!
They were fun!
Wry entertaining and instructive!! Well done. One question… are you allowing the jig to hit the bottom before twitching upward?
It depends on what I see on my fish finder. If I see fish near the bottom, I will bounce it on the bottom. If they are suspended, I will count it down to their depth and start working it.
Man that first Striper was a dandy so was the last one! Way to stay after em Dana ! Sleep is over-rated.
I don't know, miss enough sleep and things get sketchy.

I have the heavy medium heavy. Great rods.
@@FCPFishing awesome thank you! Would you use this rod for the jig fishing too?
@@ryanmarosy2940 It would be great for a jig rod, the bass jig, not a hair jig. For that you need a spinning rod.
@@FCPFishingthanks again man. What type of spinning Rod setup you recommend for the hair jig?
@@ryanmarosy2940 I use a Kistler Z Bone 7 ft light medium heavy with a Shimano Vanford 2500 reel.
What’s up Dana what kind of spinning setup are you using?
Kistler 7ft medium heavy Z Bone rod, Shimano Vanford 2500 reel, Gamma Touch 8 lb test Fluorocarbon. That's my main jig set up, but I have many others.
Thats what im talking about!
Yes Sir!
How heavy is the jig your using?
That day I was using 3/16 oz, but I always have several rods with me that have different size jigs. It depends on depth and wind speed mostly, but sometimes they just prefer a certain size.
was that a 1/8 oz jig head or heavier?
I believe I was using a 1/4 oz that day because I was fishing deeper water. I always have several rods with me all rigged with different size jigs so I don't have to re tie so much.
