I don’t know why this is considered country. It just oozes of blues and soul to me. Marcus King is very similar. They both make me think about BB King.

I believe blues and country are siblings in music. Close but so different. He’s mixed the two to the point you can’t even tell!
It's how he sings with the nasal twang that make it country but it's really a blend of country and blues.

I love his old music but I have my opinions on his character. But that's not really something to talk about bc the list of legendary musicians that made terrible choices is hella long. Music is something you feel. It doesn't matter what they look like, their past, or anything else.
