This helped me out alot, had a big seap in the side of my plastic tank on my dirtbike and I've tried every epoxy and rubber weld you can buy.. found a plastic weld pen and cut out a plastic piece of gas tank from trash pile. No more leak 🤌
I have 2 cans just like yours used in the video that are leaking along the seam at the top. I'm gonna have to try this with those seams. This location seems to be a weakness with some of these five gal cans. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for this great video! On my older plastic gasoline can, that has a yellow spout, a critter chewed holes through the spout right at the black plastic cap while the can had gasoline in it! Now, I have about three good size holes to repair if I want to continue using this great old can! I have the older Harbor Freight plastic welder kit; I will try it for this repair using a yellow plastic to match my can material, if I can find it.
thank you hardluckcharlie for this video it came in handy for me i have a old vintage orange gas jug i got from the store for working with the Owner and Others there it has crack on it not now Praise God i took a old red cup of mine and carefully burnt it over the crack now it isn't moving anywhere hopefully it'll hold my Diesel for my travels in my Kioti K92400 UTV :)
Pretty sure we would rather hear your flatulence, Charlie. I was thinking the same thing about the music. Personally, I don’t think music of any kind is necessary. But this Dosie Dough and Skip to my Lou is pretty hard to endure. 😂
I have an unusual project, I need to cut the handles off of a gas can, and then cover the holes. Pieces of another gas can will be the patch, and HDPE will be the filler rod... What temperature did you use? This video is 10 months old, I hope you get this and can answer my question.
I use a low-medium setting for the gas can. But it depends on how thick and the particul;ar HPDE you are using. Sometimes we just have to try a small trial spot.
The seam on the bottom of my 5 gal blitz gas can came apart, would j b weld putty , or even a propane gas torch work to mend it? I got the can for nothing .......
@@hardluckcharlie J B Weld will not stick to polyethylene in fact I don't know of anything that will. Fusion welding is the best option. I would not try any open flame method on a gas can.
Dude! If I had kids, I would have to cover their eyes so they would be spared from your unthinkable suggestion. Have you no sense of decency?! You don’t throw these cans away when you know there’s a perfectly viable mending solution. No matter the cost. For we are men! Gas cans, as well as our underwear, shall never be thrown away! 😂
Please comment - good or bad. And put a like on this video if you liked it. It helps me improve my videos. Thank you all for watching!
Nice
@@dwaynedavis2614 I still use this can several times a month. Not even a drop has leaked from the repair. Thanks for watching and commenting!
The video saved me with the plastic coffee container! I had trouble matching the correct rods. Great idea and thank you!!!!!
Glad it helped!

Just make sure it is not only the same color, but more importantly the same type of plastic. Good luck!
Thanks for the tips!
Thank you!

I hope it helped and your patch was successful! Thanks for commenting!
What’s with the music. Very distracting 4:50
It's to cover up my flatulence. Which may or may not be even more distracting. Thank you

My red plastic 40 yr old gas can has a leak at the bottom. After seeing the tourch method, I'm going to try that. Thanks.
Good luck! Let us know how it comes out!

Try the JB. It might work great. I have a tool box I'm going to try JB Weld on. I wouldn't try a torch though. Way too hot.

What temp setting on the dial you use?
I set it on 2 if I remember right.
Very nice 👍. I think I'll try it. My darn tank didn't last long at all. Hopefully I can fix it.
Repair parts for this plastic welder are not available.
They must be cooled down before the unit is turned off or they will fail. Thank you!
Stop the music😩
I'll try to do better. Thank you.
WOULDN'T IT BE CHEAPER TO BUY ANOTHER GAS CAN?
If that is the only plastic item you will ever need to repair, yes.
U CAN SAVE A LOT MORE MONEY NOT GOING ANYWHERE BECAUSE OF GAS PRICES
