Tips for people: make sure you know how to use some of these. Don’t use an e collar if you do not know how to use it. It’s an amazing tool, but make sure you know how to use it. And that goes for things like vests and collars too!!
I was typing how naturally beautiful you are RIGHT as you said your self conscious about it. Girl, take a second look in that mirror. Also. I’m getting a labradoodle in September who’s becoming a SDIT this is super helpful.
OMG I never considered the leash wrap (tbh I didn't know it even existed until recently). My SD has the exact issue you were talking about where she relies on having her SD vest or her SD backpack on to know she's in work mode when in public. For me she still behaves relatively well but there is definitely a difference. I will definitely look into that for when I get a puppy in the future! I'd say the gear that I have and use the most often is: SD harness vest Standard Collar A hands free leash (connects to your waist) A short leash (I think its about 12 inches long including the handle) Doggie booties Dog Water Bottle I often forget to bring the treat pouch, and store the poo bags in my personal bag. I generally forget my collapsible bowls as well. Ofc I have a crate and plenty of other things but atm I'm only really thinking of things I take when leaving the house. As a person with a handler trained SD I do want to learn more tips and techniques others use to work on their training and gear people use. I am a bit iffy about using a clicker because I do not know how to use it properly and I've seen firsthand how if you don't do it right, it can do much more harm than good. However, from everything I've seen of properly used clickers, I do believe that it is a skill I will need to learn as it is far more beneficial to train a dog with one than without one!
Thank you for this I am training my own sd and had no clue what to use because I don't want to spend lots of money before she's a bit further into training because she is a bit shy of her normal gear so thank you ❤
This video is perfect. I’m in the middle of training a service cat to help my seizures, ptsd, and anxiety. Now I know the ADA says only dogs and small horses can be service animals, but Wisconsin laws say any animal can be a service animal not just dogs and horses long as the animals is trained to assist the individual
Plus why a cat not the best choice for a service animal seeing how cats tend to be their own entity. Versus a dog that can fill your moods and come running naturally with a high level of train ability.
uhm just a heads up federal is above state laws and that means u litteraly can’t have them in public (they could still task/work in cat friendly environments
The ADA states clearly that ONLY dogs can be service animals. Not even miniature ponies, which was an update to the original law. States must follow under this law
I'm not entirely sure if I need one for my high anxiety levels. I'm hoping that if I need one, that the cost will be covered my insurance. 😊❤Love this channel so much!
e-collars have up to 100 levels, where the others in pet stores are more like a shock collar than an e-collar, which delivers a stim. they are much safer and better for communicating! :)
mini educators & dogtras (aka the expensive ones) have been tested & proven harmless and safe when used correctly, cheap ones (like ones from pet stores) have not been tested, and don't have the dogs safety or welfare in mind! so it is a lot safer to get an expensive one so you know that your dog is going to be safe and unharmed
@@thepawswithpurpose Yea np! And also are you even gonna get rid of his puppy gear like the amazon vest or his first semi-custom vest ( 3:09 )? I need gear and I can't really afford new stuff but my SD's gear wont fit my puppy
Have a sd and getting a sdit by 2025, and it's pretty useful info Just know what you're doing, lol I already have a list for her, though She's going to be a poodle mutt named Versailles :]
CAN you go an entire service dog’s career without using any tools? (Except treats & a clicker. I’m saying prong & ecollar) With that being said I’m NOT against those tools as I have to use them for my reactive dog but for my sdit if I can stay away from them I will. Is it doable?
totally! but using tools could potentially benefit or get your dog where it needs to be, so sometimes avoiding them isn't right for every dog. that being said, not every dog needs specific aversive training tools! it goes both ways. but if it could potentially benefit them, why not? i hope this makes sense! :)
I love your videos I have a medical alert and ptsd response my gear is her Fanny pack has ada law cards because I was at work and denied services for my service dog I have the basic Amazon service dog vest and she has red and pink and she has a pink service dog leash so if I don’t have her vest she can still be labeled as a service dog but in her Fanny pack are ada law cards poop page treats water bowl ada law cards and summer gear has a y harness and I use her service dog leash
With all the respect…..e - collar is not ESSENTIAL!!!!!!! You can teach your dog anything and everything with positive reinforcement. Absolutely everything.
Because he’s off duty. Service dogs know when they are and aren’t working. Since right now he’s just chilling at home so he doesn’t need to be super alert. (Handler correct me if I’m wrong)
i am not going to waste my time and energy debating this with you. feel free to get educated if you would like! there are plenty of educational resources online to help you understand! i'm sorry you feel that way.
Jesus loves you and died for you God bless you he was thinking of you on the cross and is still thinking of you right now he can heal you and he loves you sooo much God bless you!!
Most disabilities are permanent and can’t simply be healed, that’s why people need service dogs. Apologies if I misinterpreted the intent of your comment.
Imagine using pain to get your dog to listen to you🙄 I was gonna watch the whole vid but as soon as she mentioned prong collar and e collar she lost me. Ok, clicking off this vid now.
Stopped watching once you promoted a prong and e collars. Why would you if you want to build a bond with your dog. How would you respond to your parent using this on you. Same thing. Investing in your dog and using positive reinforcement is a kind healthy and rewarding method over force, inflicting pain and discomfort. This is your companion it should like and trust you and respect you through good leadership not fear you. Real shame as I actually thought you started out your video quite well. hey! i am sorry you feel this ways towards training tools. when used correctly they can be immensely helpful and are completely ethical! i love my dog more than anything in the world and we have an incredible bond, and i use training tools daily. when used and introduced properly, they can be awesome! if you would like to learn more and get educated on training tools i would be more than happy to discuss them with you... as far as my parent using training tools on me, i wouldn't feed my child dog food either, would you? dogs are great, but they aren't humans. :)
Tips for people: make sure you know how to use some of these. Don’t use an e collar if you do not know how to use it. It’s an amazing tool, but make sure you know how to use it. And that goes for things like vests and collars too!!
How the hell do you use a vest incorrectly-? Or are you talking about making it seem like the dog has no off days/using the vest as a harness?
@@ZestySp1ceecalm down, your so dramatic. Like bro- anyways.. your dad is kinda…

Honestly this is helpful, because there is so much stuff I want to buy for my service dog in training and I don't know where to start lol
New and overwhelmed your great thank you
Thank you im training my own and was so overwhelmed with all the options so this should help me a lot ❤🎉
The only training tools I went for was a marginal collar and a head collar
I will be TRANNING my 1 year old golden retriever this video was soo helpful I had no idea what to get

Why do so many people go for those E collars that are very expensive when there are great ones that are 25-50 dollars?
Not all E collars turn out to be good it is safer to go for an expensive one.

do you have any recomandations on a program where i can program train my service dog.
Where do u get the boots! I need some for my SD in training!
You can buy them on Amazon! I’m ordering two pairs for my Doberman pincher, I’ve had a pair before, and they work great!
@@MyCam005 cool!
Omg the gear lol my dog is 7 months and has lots of gear
I also have a standard poddle!(she is on my pfp
I’m looking into getting a service dog and I’m really curious how many hours a day you spend training? Especially in the beginning.
training is crucial! Work on all basic obedience at a young age and as they get older train advanced obedience and tasks :)
Every mealtime is training time and theres also extra training on top of that.
I want to buy a E Collar, what brand that is lil cheap would yall reccomend?
I would love a video on hos to teach leash pressure do you have something to recommend? That you for this video i find it very helpful.
Does an e collar or prong collar hurt them?
Nope! But if you use it wrong then yes

weird but, I was the 400th like lol
Is it ok to put in training patches on my none service dog doggy
No, and it’s actually illegal

literally shut up lmao

When someone forces you to wear an e-collar let's see if you find it "essential".
e collars and prong collars are inhumane because of the fact that it can cause scarring and damage on your dogs neck
i am not going to waste my time and energy debating this with you. feel free to get educated if you would like! there are plenty of educational resources online to help you understand! i'm sorry you feel that way.
