  • SAM THE COOKING GUY BBQ'd some Korean BBQ Beef Ribs in Hawaii and I made it better by stumbling onto a trick that you could call a cooking hack? It made the ribs amazing but please tell me what you thought about it?
    This is the first time I upload in 4K Ultra HD, can you tell the difference?
    These Ribs are referred to Kalbi or Galbi in the Korean BBQ realm.
    The cut of the rib is known as LA CUT or LA STYLE or FLANKEN CUT.
    Apologies I haven't uploaded a video in 3 weeks, life has been a handful I hope you enjoy this one!
    @samthecookingguy How do you feel about a bit of booze in it? Would you go thinner on the cuts?
    -------------------------------------------------------------------
    Marinade recipe -
    1. 1 cup of soy sauce
    2. Half a cup of Mirin
    3. Quarter cup of whatever beer your drinking in that moment
    4. Coupla glug glugs of smokey canadian whiskey
    5. A few table spoons of chili sesame seed oil but you can use regular sesame seed oil
    6. Half a cup of Maple syrup
    7. Quarter cup of unrefined cane sugar or just regualar sugar?
    8. Half a cup of water to rinse out the sugar
    9. One table spoon of Gochujang
    10. 3 White bottom halves of green onions
    11. 5 thick cloves of garlic
    12. A Knob of ginger
    13. 1 FULL BIG Korean Pear
    14. 2 shallots
    Marinade at least over night, I went for almost 4 days.

    Alright, now that was a great video ! I had those ribs a few times in the South Pacific and I really feel you nailed it ! One question though...how d'you get the special maple syrup ;)

    Hey brother. Hope all is well. Been so busy lately. Finally got the ambition up to get some rooms painted in the house. We moved in last March and I could not take looking at white walls everywhere. I love the new concept. I'm a loyal SAM THE COOKING GUY fan. Love his layed back delivery, lots of f-bombs dropped and some pretty basic recipes. The marinate you made had my mouth water. Love the whiskey addition. I love ribs!! I'm still learning how to cook them but last try was pretty good. Tried the pressure cooker then grill method... sucked! They were so soft they just fell apart but tasted ok. Just bought a new stand up freezer for the garage. My chest freezer got too crowded. Stocked up on wings and ribs enough for the next 6 months!! Made a great rib eye burger the other night. Nothing like grinding your own meats and cooking over charcoal. I added sauted mushrooms and some fresh garlic and onion to the grind on a couple. Amazing!!! Had a bright idea for an onion ring alternative. I decided to take the skin off a bunch of small pearl onions (took freakin forever) and batter them up and air fried. So much better than rings.. you actually get a nice bite of onion.
    I have an idea for a youtube channel I've been toying with... " I Want To Cook Like........" And pick youtube cooks and try to follow their exact recipe and see how it compares to the original. I'm sure there is something out there with that concept but I think it would be interesting. When I saw your last few videos featuring Guga, SAM and Ramsay it made me rethink maybe trying it. I need to finish my outdoor kitchen. Would make a great setting. There's cover from the elements and a view of beautiful moutains and mesas in southern Utah. I hope things are going well up there and keep those great videos coming. I finally figured out how to sign up for notifications on your channel! Enjoy!

      Wow congrats on the new place Mike!!! I dream of an outdoor kitchen but hard to justify in this cold weather. Maybe one day I'll get to live in a warm place and cook in the backyard all year round?
      Those onion petals are a great idea instead of onion rings!
      I think you should go for it and do the channel if you have the time! I can tell you that this channel is a lot more time than I thought but I'm in too deep and I'm not stopping now lol.

      I had this idea that I wanted to cook random things and feed my creations to random people. I'm still working on how to do it but I was thinking about a video when I hit 1000 subscribers going out as a celebration and feeding strangers.
