I never really thought about the purpose of "just lighting a fire" until I started watching your videos. We have a lot of dead branches that fall off of our maple and walnut trees - with instant kindling and dry wood, it was an easy step to clear out a fire pit the former owners created - so now I've made a couple of fires, while clearing out the yard of dead twigs and branches. It's also cooling down so it's kind of fun. My next step is to heat some water and cook something, or maybe just heat something up. Thank you for the inspiration, we're even looking at "cheap" land in the UP - family down in the lower part. Would love to see more videos on how to pick off grid land - watched your vid where you looked at a few lots, very helpful.
I sit outside in the evening under the stars with a candle lite. Full moon tonight. I watch your videos and enjoy your fires. I’m watching all your 28 day challenge 😊
Last year my wife and I took a riverboat cruise for our 40th anniversary. It was on the Columbia and Snake rivers. It was a Lewis and Clark themed event with a historian on board. He gave this perspective: You start your fires with flint, steel, and char cloth. You are in the pacific northwest...it's always raining, it's cold, you're shivering, everything around you is cold and wet and has been for weeks. NOW start a fire...so you don't freeze to death. I've gotten a bit more respect and admiration for Lewis and Clark and the Corps of Discovery!
When Ron Larr and I went camping on the Manistee in January, we had a fire going. Just sitting there in the dark with each other by a fire without talking. Enjoying the silence and living in the moment. Totally entertained by the fire and our own thoughts. Life is beautiful.
Brooke:You Are So Rite About Doing A Fire;I Luv Luv Luv! All Of Your Camping Videos Where It Is Snowing! I Hope We Can See More Of Them At All Your Different Properties;Thank You So Much For Sharing :D
Why yes, yes I am marathoning your videos in between jobs & enjoying it tremendously. I'm getting back out there hopefully tomorrow. Thanks for being an inspiration to us all.
Yep, that's a great way to start a day. As soon as I get about 45,000 subscribers on my U Tube channel and earn enough from ad views and affiliate sales commissions, I'm going to quit my job. Then I can drink my coffee every morning staring at a roaring fire somewhere in the great outdoors. Am I jealous? OH YES! Wish I was doing it too. Enjoy it as much as you can.
Next on my equipment list ... a collapsible saw for campfire wood. Enjoying a daily slice of winter campfires right here! Thanks for sharing ... God Bless
I just caught up on all three fire challenge videos in one day. I watched the first one this morning and immediately went out and built a fire, my son-in-law joined me first and then my husband, then my 3 grandchildren and our daughter,we kept that fire going all day! We had a blast😇😇😇 I hope I don’t wimp out when it starts raining 😂😂😂Thank you Brooke for the inspiration! God bless you and your family❤️❤️😢
I was going to comment yesterday, great to see Maisey-Daisey in boots. As cold as it has been here, she really needs them. Maybe not so much this weekend. Nice fire & I hardly ever listen to the news anymore. Thanks for sharing.
You are enjoying yourself with your traveling companion in the snow and that snow don't look bad, but it must be very cold there. I am here in Arkansas where we have not seen much snow, but plenty of cold weather. I need to burn trash and may do it tomorrow after church since there isn't much else to do until the football game starts. I wish you all a great Sunday and your husband will probably be watching the game also. I am hoping the Rams win since the Patriots have been there so many times.
The weather here has been up and down also. Crazy! I love, love, love candles. Lighting a candle is a good idea if you can't have a fire. I like Massey's footies BTW. I like pizza any time of the day and I find it better the next day.
Hallo Mrs. Whipple that was fast, really fast how you start your Fire. And remember, it's never to late or to early to start a Fire. The early Bird is catching the Worm. Stay Warm !!! Greatings from the BF in Germany (Walter )
There's a fireplace ban in our city (Montreal, Canada) because if everyone lights their fireplaces it causes too much air pollution. So my little fire is lighting candles every night, i turn off the electrical lights, been doing that for a long time. So peaceful, thanks for sharing poetry.
Sorry, I can't partake in the fire building this month, but I can plug my electric fire place in every night. Can't wait for the weather to get warmer so I can go camping in my Van, with my 2 boys. Love your Videos. Glenda
Love the challenge, although I cannot go out to the woods I took your lead and did the large pillar candle and shut off the devises and read a book. This morning it was my candle and my breakfast. loving this new idea, next month I am moving to the Ozarks of Missouri and woods will not be a problem. Have fun today and enjoy.
Hey Brooke good video I enjoyed it and that's what I'm talkin about first thing in the morning Pizza I could eat pizza everyday in the morning for breakfast and maybe during the day I'm going to like myself a candle because I do love candles and I used to like them a lot more often but just not that much anymore and thank you for the video
I love gloomy, grey, rainy days! I love bright sunny days too but I strive to find the beauty in all weather. I love to hear the rain and the smell is intoxicating. No use in being bummed out. Embrace it! Cuz it's gonna happen weather you like it or not. (See what I did there?) ❤️🌧️⛈️🌦️
Another nice video, I dont' get around much anymore but lit one of my wooden wick survival candles and watched the flame. It was kind of strange ,I thought how nice it is to have a good Dog because they can see, hear, and smell so much more than us,they let you know when something is about. Then I thought we humans were able to master fire and use it as a tool and that changed our development considerable, HaHa what a good team we make humans and dogs, The coffee made me go make a cup but you can have the cold pizza. I was wondering cause I live in Western Oregon we don't get much snow here, doesn't a fire on snow turn it to water underneath and put it out? Just wondered how that works.
Hello Brooke, happy day to you. Greetings from Sacramento, Ca. Grumpiness is not allowed. I know that you must be bummed out about rain in the forecast. Don't let the rain dampen your spirits. Pizza sounds good right now, but with a glass of cabernet sauvignon wine. Take care, be safe and have fun. See you on the next one. 🤗
Sadly can’t get out to light a fire, so I ignited an old zippo! There in spirit. As a member (absent) from the Rural Fire Service in Australia, a mate told me that they are warning against farting outdoors at present!
No fires here.. yet. It's been raining cats & dogs, thunder & lightning, and had a tornado warning earlier today. I'm expecting flooding tomorrow with all this rain, all the water from the Camp Creek Road fire area that burned most of the historic town of Paradise California to the ground ends up down here since there are no ground plants left up there to slow the water down. I have been planning a "tiny" fire though. I have lots of 1:12th scale (doll house size stuff) camping equipment and planning to set up a small camp site scene, light a tiny fire, and video and photograph it.
2 down 26 to go. I will watch every episode. Its worth remembering you have a double challenge, filming editing, and posting every day for a month as well. For that reason, don't worry about replies to me. i'll take just one reply to all in March. As for the rain, i live in England. so i can speak for all Brits, when i say. 'we feel your pain' Gary.
I have congestive heart failure.. makes it hard to be breathe around smoke. bums me out because at one time everything I wore smelled like a campfire.... So 4k Campfire loops work good these days. funny thing I misspelled campfire for some reason and spell check tried to change the world to Vampire.. creepy.
Ah, more Oliver. Thanks. I noticed Maisey has booties on. Did you have problems with her wearing them? My Lab mix has tender paws in the snow but he has fits when I try to go put booties on him. Started using Mushers cream but I know booties would be better.
brook & david if everthing goes good I have plans of moving to alaska in this coming spring.have you or dave ran into a bigfoot in your travels you'll have not ever talked about bigfoot at all so I'm asking,I have.if I make it to ak.I hope I ran into you and dave.it's hard to meet good people so I'm going to say good day to you and yours and God bless you and your family
I love your videos! My channel is on the way to becoming something like yours! looks so fun and entertaining! Even if I had zero views I’d love to just make the videos for fun
Same spot...? That is a condition for tha challenge ? I think that TH-cam bushcrafters will become acquainted, understand and tack on this challenge in the day 27... God bless... Ups... almost forget... Could I choose as an spot my bathroom so I light a fire in the shower curtain... so well you know... "childhood remembrance"? Ups... almost forget... I suggest to bring a bunch of books all together in one called "Bible" in order to light a fire in the spirit...the holy spirit... Elohim bless gratefully you all...
The sound of the procedere and the smell .... handbrewed coffee... a dream...and outdoors...by the fire..magic...
Campfire , with coffee , and food, together always wonderful.😊

Brooke, I have nothing but admiration for you.....That really looked cold, but you seem to be up for the challenge. Don't get too cold.

good advice
Coffee ☕️ is the second best thing to 🍞 so right now I’m wishing I was there with you. See you tomorrow
Sadly can’t get out to light a fire, so I ignited an old zippo! There in spirit. As a member (absent) from the Rural Fire Service in Australia, a mate told me that they are warning against farting outdoors at present!
LOL guess that means it's hot
I’m staring at a fire as we speak...love my wood stove. And if I turn my phone off I wouldn’t be able to watch you 😊😉
