This frustrates me because for the ombre one, she didn't even do it right. She used it like a stamp, you're supposed to stipple it so that the colors blend, and then apply a top coat so that it blends more. And there's a much easier way to do galaxy nails than the way they did in this video. But that's why pinterest bothers me because they don't show the correct methods or anything.

Being an art major does not automatically mean that you will know how and be fabulous at everything artsy.
thats what i was thinking lol you can know a lot of art, doesn't mean you can recreate it.
I think she only mentioned that to show she's not completely inexperienced with visual artsy crafty stuff like maybe a lot of the others in the video?
and just because you can make a work of art on a big canvas doesn't mean you can apply it to a tiny,uneven surface like a fingernail.
The tricky part for most people, artist or not, is the doing the opposite hand to what you are frequently using. That's totally normal, not many people are ambidextrous.
For the girl doing the marble nail, correct me if I'm wrong... but after you dip your nail into the water... aren't you suppose to "clean up" or remove the excess polish on top of the water to prevent what just happened to her??

***** lol im not sure if you're joking or not but Holz Amazingness the more expensive high quality the polish is the better it will work. You're supposed to drop the polish in room temperature water and it's supposed to spread to the end of your cup or container (the smaller the container the better it works because the nail polish will dry slower in the water) then you draw your design and the colors should stay separated. I'm not a professional nail artist but my many experiences with water marble have all turned out well. Hope this helped.

I have short nails and I have done the marbled nails. She didn't do it quite right. She needed to clear out the polish before she lifted it up. It's time consuming, but it comes out cool. I've done it in a rainbow and it looked tie dye for a symphony concert once. Went well with my tie dye t-shirt. :)
that's such a lie. even toe nails are great for nailart! the secret is painting in miniature so it looks like a giant nail lol. and ofcourse the topcoat. its a small detail but it makes such a difference!

I literally just got my first acrylic nails today using that EXACT same galaxy nails reference, and they ended up looking like the northern lights. I'm in love with them.

When you do the ombré nails aren't you supposed to push the sponge down multiple times instead of just once?

you use the flat top part and roll it on your nail multiple times
First: they are called gradients. Ombré nails arent blended colors. Ombré are either stripes that get progressively lighter or each preceding nail is lighter than the last
Second: she needed to put a top coat on before attempting any kind of art, especially gradients.
Third: yes. You do dab the sponge multiple times. Also, you do multiple thin coats instead of one thick coat to make it opaque.
This knowledge was provided by @simplynailogical and the fact that I love gradients and nail art.

Okay I am an admeture nail artist and I can tell you that for the ombre nails you have to use lots of thin coats until it gets opaque and make sure you put the layers on the same spot each time. It works best with two colors for short nails. Also putting regular old elmer's glue on the skin around your nail helps with cleanup. Simply nailogical did it but she used watered down glue so it didn't work

+Moo And Mew (MooAndMew) You just gotta go over it a few times with lots of product. Don't worry about what gets on the sides of your fingers. You can clean that with a q-tip. If it's not blending well, use a top coat while the nail polish is still wet to blend everything. xx
+Moo And Mew (MooAndMew) Oh, also put it on the bottom of the sponge rather than the side like the girl did here. You get more product on & it'll be easier to handle when you rock it back & forth. Hope this helps. Let me know how it turns out!

It's funny to watch this because I do nail art every week so I know that ombré and galaxy are fairly easy designs, the floral and tape are a little more difficult, and water marble is literally impossible
