Absolutely amazing and inspiring lecture from a dear friend. Thanks to a very generous gift from Todd, last spring, i am now spending many hours every day in front of my Buchla system!
"I don't try to make them do what I want them to do. I try to listen to what they want to do" Perfect attitude toward playing with sound generating/mangling synthesizer toys.
Is it just me, or should the auxiliary connector on the Buchla Command have been at a different angle so you could actually see what was going on there? I know I'd have wanted to re-angle it if I ever used it, which I probably wouldn't; the Easel is amazing when starting from scratch as you're never more than a single cable connection and a slider move away from amazing music. I absolutely love the instrument, the sounds and the inspirational presentation.
Anyone know the album and painting technique he mentions.. I'm struggling with the audio and not finding anything with Google.. sounds like he said Douglas Levy "Tropical Paradise" and "Podulism".. ?
@@babayard Thank you, seems my ear is not so good at distinguishing when there's other noise present. Was struggling to make out what was said.. I appreciate the responses everybody.

What an incredible lecture. Once again having my mind blown by Todd Barton and his deep understanding of music, sound, and nature.

The master himself! So wonderful to learn about the art and not just the tech 😍

Thank you for this.
check out that cool antique phone on the wall
Interesting perspectives on sound as compared to light, and comparisons themselves being odious (or odorous 😆).

ehdyn Douglas Leedy’s “Entropical Paradise”. A really inspiring work indeed.
... and then he talks about Pauline Oliveros
@@BRNTmodularmusic Oh sweet, thank you!
Pointillism is the painting technique he refers to...

Todd, think the 259 came out in the mid to late 70s; maybe the 208 used first wave folder
But, how about Serge?
