@@valeries3829 Totally, dude. I bet some guy was well on his way to finally not being racist, but then saw iDubbbz's video criticizing a white girl for being hypocritical about the usage of the N word and went and killed a black family that very same night.

what i didn't like about all these is that Ian made it out like those who he made content cop of is not deserved, some of them deserved to be called out like that.
Yoooo, same. I didn't vibe with the early podcast, and I just randomly watched an Ep a few months ago, and now I get excited every Friday for Gabe. Lmao
The amount of Big TH-camrs and people I would have never thought would have a bad take on something like this lambasting IDubbz over his growth is insane to me. If he doesn’t like and or cringes at his old content than that’s how he is entitled to feel. Even Critikal/Charlie surprised me with his comment on not understanding why using those slurs was actually hurtful in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter if IDubbz wasn’t saying it with any bad intentions. IDubbz was the low key leader of those edgy kids who thought it was funny to say that shit and act like it was always a joke. Those words are used by Bigoted people and it normalized the use of those words during that era of TH-cam. It honestly feels like a crabs in a barrel type of mentality where Ian grew up and reflected on his old content and decided to leave it behind, but the internet wants to keep him trapped being their literal edge lord. And for them to act like “how’s IDubbz going to act like all sanctimonious when he was saying it 7 years ago” like exactly in those last years he’s been growing as a person and decided that he’s not that guy anymore. And that’s FINE everyone outgrows their younger selves. The internet obviously doesn’t. This actually surprises me and has me wondering what is so hard to understand about any of this.
You completely misunderstood charlie’s video then (like many others with low iq). He never said apologizing for using racial slurs is bad, he merely said that idubbz was being to hard on himself with regard to the content cop videos. Which were good videos, but idubbz acts like he committed a warcrime or something.
@@mrmelis I literally never made that argument. I have no idea where you got that from. Although Charlie agrees his content could have made some bad eggs he doesn’t think Idubbbz was that influential enough to warrant an apology for his content in the first place. Charlie doesn’t really remember or saw how big and influential Idubbbz was too edgy kids, I disagree. He just chalks it up to edgy humor, but that type of thing is exactly the mask some racist use to justify using those slurs. Idubbbz is apologizing for even facilitating that type of behavior to begin with. Whether it was meant for entertainment. That’s the point I was trying to make. It had nothing to do with apologizing for the content cops. It was his use of slurs in his content that I’m talking about. Also who are you to dictate how Idubbbz feels? If he feels a certain way that’s on him. But yeah starting off a comment on how someone misunderstood something while also misunderstanding the thing they’re replying too is pretty funny lol
@@majinkaaz Yeah so my point still stands. You didn't understand his video. Because he never said that idubbz's content DIDN'T have a bad influence on children. You're just making your own narrative.

I don't see why people expect that if Ian is gonna move on from the past, that he'd be comfortable just pretending the damage that clearly plays on his mind was never there and to just move on without issuing any statement at all, people would just talk about the change if he didn't anyway
There’s this write up by Mia Mingus called The Four Parts of Accountability: How To Give A Good Apology. The four parts are 1. Self-reflection 2. Apologizing 3. Repair 4. Behavior change It doesn’t have to be in order, like in Idubbbz’ case he did the apology after the behavior change and he’s now repairing the harm he did to others (Tana invited him to have a conversation about it on her podcast to which he agreed). I try to encourage as many people as I can to read it because it really is one of the best and most helpful things I’ve ever read. Apologies from influencers will always seem somewhat performative, so I can understand why some people will think they’re being disingenuous, but I believe Idubbbz has done it the best
Ethan and Ian literally used the n word multiple times in a podcast , basically for the sake of it... so it's weird to hear the degree of separation ethan uses at the start of this
@@MrGMovieReviews yeah well 'edgy humor' is just shorthand for shit you just shouldn't say but in general yeah most people like edgy humor if its clever, funny, and doesn't cross any specific lines. Things are never black and white. There are ways to say the n word in a satirical or humorous way but pretty much no one knows the cadences of it enough to be successful in it so it's easier to say you just shouldn't say the n word at all because it's always gonna be offensive more than anything else. But dark and even some offensive humor is still appropriate in certain situations. Context means everything, and idubbbz and south park were both wrong when they said "it's either all okay or none of its okay" about offensive material.
@@MrGMovieReviews I think this shows a fundamental misunderstanding in how people change. There’s nothing wrong with self reflection and if I ever feel nostalgia, I can find the bad unboxings or the Bold Guy video. God bless Ian and H3 for their continued service to my heart
Me and my friends talked about this stuff before. We all loved the edgy, dark humor that was rampant back in the day and it easily could have sent us down the alt right pipeline like it has for many others. We aren't all straight, white, or cis,so it was easy to enjoy the content without thinking it was actually okay. We always seen it as just jokes, and a lot of people, as seen in idubbbbz comments, didn't think it was a joke in the first place
Most people could watch a idubbz video and realize that when he called himself a n word f word he was demeaning the people who would use that as an insult. Idk how you see Ian as part of the altright pipeline. Cite 1 video that could reasonable be interrupted as an attack on people race ethnicity gender etc..
@@appropriate-channelname3049 You see how many of Ian's fans call him a cuck, simp, pussy, loser, ect? They weren't just born that way, the media people consume can and will shape them. I'm not saying Ian's videos were a gate way, but his videos in conjunction with other people spouting the same stuff leads to an echo chamber of bigotry.
I agree that he was hard on himself a few times. The early content cop ones were pretty harsh. They were just making fun of bad, popular channels who hadn't really done anything wrong. The Tana one he did go too far, but ones like Keemstar, Ricegum and Leafy, I'm sorry but I don't see what he did wrong. Keemstar is arguably even worse now than he was then and absolutely deserved to be called out and criticised. Ethan was totally right to do the content nuke. Ricegum was a horrible person. @@ViolentRainbow I think it's genuine but regardless, it doesn't matter it's better he come out and do this, it's an objectively good thing that has a positive outcome if you want to hate him forever for who he used to be publicly you can do that but you can't deny that it's good he did this, it stops the culture in his audience from growing and will inevitably deconvert at least some people and that's a good thing, the more people like him that publicly come out and say they were wrong for what they said and the culture they harvested the better.

Ethan and friends now adhere to the same exact official narratives determined by the same Alphabet corporation and it's many echo chamber websites and so Ethan Klein for instance has no real opinion of his own anymore. iDubbbz finally succumbed to the cult and is the latest sellout, and any content creators who have slightly different opinions contending with that such as Boogie and Charlie the Penguin get propaganda spewed at them from Ethan and friends like Vaush did recently as a cult member. Because if they don't, then their new Capitalist masters will punish them with penalities on TH-cam.

These guys just do what's best for business, let's be honest. Being edgy back in 2016 was very profitable for both Ethan and Ian. That content won't fly in 2023, and they know it. Now its profitable to be politically correct.

People seem to think the content he used to put out was the most racist, homophobic crap, like he truly meant anything from a place of hatred. He also mentions his fans at the time as some sort of bigoted monsters while in reality most of his fan base were just edgy teens. It's not that deep guys, stop acting like iDubbz was hitler in 2016
while it was possibly not an active effort, idubbbz, h3h3 and more still created content that undermined the severity of slurs and racist/homophobic/sexist remarks to an impressionable audience. and from that sprung a toxic sub-culture on the internet that negatively impacted the way these issues are seen even today. those edgy teens are now in their twenties, and, if they haven't grown out of the toxic culture, these harmful 'jokes' reflect onto the people that they are surrounded by and even their politics. the words they used carry history, and the history echoes hatred. no one is calling these crrators 'hitler', but it is undeniable that they cultivated an extremely spiteful, unsafe space on the internet that still prevails today. for example, the subculture of incels who have unfortunately fostered an extremely unhealthy relationship with women due to those hiiiiilarious 'angry feminist cringe compilations'. no, not even incels, men who scream at women to 'get in the kitchen and make [them] a sandwich' when a girl puts on her mic during a video game. not only is that extremely detrimental to women as a whole, but these men are inadvertently suffering too because of these extremely intolerant views that they have unknowingly developed because of the content they consume. these people are lonely, feel somewhat betrayed by their 2016-edgelord-messiah's abandoning their 'ideals' and it's a self-renewing cycle of spite. it is just plain sad, and while i dont fully feel that h3h3 understands his hand in cultivating this harmful culture, i'm at least a little relieved that idubbbz has finally accepted responsibility for his audience. the damage that has been is practically immeasurable unfortunately, so it's somewhat understandable why the consequences seem so invisible to some.
“What’s the difference with Shane?” He has a different audience than Jenna had. He built his following back when TH-cam hand picked his blackface videos to appear on the front page.
I like the video and agree with Idubbbz on almost everything he said. What I don’t agree with is treating all the content cops the same. Some are not that bad but I still respect him wanting to unlist them. I was also surprised he never mentioned the Kick Starter Crap. I love the KSC videos but some of them are worse than the content cops. I could watch them laugh and see he didn’t have ill intentions but I understand his point.
I don’t really know anything about this creator, but it’s obvious to me that when “edgy” creators come out and condemn the behavior that some/a lot of their fans gravitated towards in the first place, that it’s like a creator holding up a mirror to those fans. And instead of reflecting, or even “agreeing to disagree” (Like how they love to say “Oh you’re mad because someone has a different opinion than you?? L.” Or whatever) it’s almost pathological how they turn on and attack that creator instead of reckoning with the fact they do/enjoy things that are hateful or bigoted. It’s kindergarten shit. It’s embarrassing to be that person who’s THIS immature. Which to me, it’s so backwards to give these unhinged people such authority, no one should give two sh***s what these people think. Let’s go back to that, please. I’m begging.
I wouldn’t hate on Charlie, it definitely wasn’t a great take, but I think it just came out of ignorance of not knowing the affect it has. Usually Charlie has great takes and this unfortunately just wasn’t a great one. And he also clarified slightly in his new video that he didn’t realize the affect it had.
This really is heartbreaking, brings a actual tear to my eye. And stop just putting it on the racial slurs, its not that, its stuff like Idubbz apologizing to Tana Fuckface
...But you did go soft. As a matter of philosophy, words do not have meaning. They have usages. Using the N-word in a satirical manner is not intrinsically offensive. But using it to hurt someone is inherently abusive. Bowing to the woke mob does not make you more virtuous. Understanding and living in the light of the academic branch of philosophy known as morality is what makes you virtuous. The N-word is just a sound. Sounds are not cruel on their own. They have to be USED in a cruel way for them to be cruel. You learn that in philosophy 101, but of course, you'd have to be educated to know that. To be clear, I'm a leftist and not a fallen fan. I just happen to disagree on this one point. Ask any philosopher if words have meaning or if they just have usages. It's a distinction with an important difference.

@@justheretocommentokdontwan685 I disagree. I see Charlie's argument as a bit ignorant and missing the point. Going to a white highschool in 2016 was so annoying as a black person with all the edgy white boys saying the n-word for shock humor. Apologies don't have to be done because someone's past was found out or they fucked up, some people genuinely change and become ashamed of their past selves.

This actually surprises me and has me wondering what is so hard to understand about any of this.
three B's dude. Idubbbz
@@majinkaaz That Charlie saw the usage of slurs as edgy humor doesn't mean he doesn't understand that it can have a bad influence of children. He just didn't state it in his video. Funnily enough, you're the one dictating how charlie feels.
The four parts are
1. Self-reflection
2. Apologizing
3. Repair
4. Behavior change
It doesn’t have to be in order, like in Idubbbz’ case he did the apology after the behavior change and he’s now repairing the harm he did to others (Tana invited him to have a conversation about it on her podcast to which he agreed).
I try to encourage as many people as I can to read it because it really is one of the best and most helpful things I’ve ever read. Apologies from influencers will always seem somewhat performative, so I can understand why some people will think they’re being disingenuous, but I believe Idubbbz has done it the best
I don't know what happened to Ethan but I completely agree with this skinny legend's takes.
Can’t stop staring at Hila
What else is there to look at?
Ethan and Ian literally used the n word multiple times in a podcast , basically for the sake of it... so it's weird to hear the degree of separation ethan uses at the start of this
They've acknowledged it already. They reference the "reckoning" they already went through when they distanced themselves from the edgy humor.
@@john2300 Ethan still does edgy humor just without slurs, doesn’t mean he’s changed at all. He just doesn’t wanna be in trouble.
Saying you're a simp without saying you're a simp 😂
Most people could watch a idubbz video and realize that when he called himself a n word f word he was demeaning the people who would use that as an insult. @@appropriate-channelname3049 You see how many of Ian's fans call him a cuck, simp, pussy, loser, ect? They weren't just born that way, the media people consume can and will shape them.
Hence why I said COULD have, meaning it's possible to slip into alt right content when you're "just into edgy humour". I'm not saying Ian's videos were a gate way, but his videos in conjunction with other people spouting the same stuff leads to an echo chamber of bigotry.

No one is, Lmfao.
while it was possibly not an active effort, idubbbz, h3h3 and more still created content that undermined the severity of slurs and racist/homophobic/sexist remarks to an impressionable audience. and from that sprung a toxic sub-culture on the internet that negatively impacted the way these issues are seen even today. those edgy teens are now in their twenties, and, if they haven't grown out of the toxic culture, these harmful 'jokes' reflect onto the people that they are surrounded by and even their politics. the words they used carry history, and the history echoes hatred. no one is calling these crrators 'hitler', but it is undeniable that they cultivated an extremely spiteful, unsafe space on the internet that still prevails today. for example, the subculture of incels who have unfortunately fostered an extremely unhealthy relationship with women due to those hiiiiilarious 'angry feminist cringe compilations'. no, not even incels, men who scream at women to 'get in the kitchen and make [them] a sandwich' when a girl puts on her mic during a video game. not only is that extremely detrimental to women as a whole, but these men are inadvertently suffering too because of these extremely intolerant views that they have unknowingly developed because of the content they consume. these people are lonely, feel somewhat betrayed by their 2016-edgelord-messiah's abandoning their 'ideals' and it's a self-renewing cycle of spite. it is just plain sad, and while i dont fully feel that h3h3 understands his hand in cultivating this harmful culture, i'm at least a little relieved that idubbbz has finally accepted responsibility for his audience. the damage that has been is practically immeasurable unfortunately, so it's somewhat understandable why the consequences seem so invisible to some.

And instead of reflecting, or even “agreeing to disagree” (Like how they love to say “Oh you’re mad because someone has a different opinion than you?? ...But you did go soft.
