There’s actually some very real truth to this in that if one of the ones with diamond armor accidentally dies and Dream manages to snag the armor drop it significantly evens out their advantage so they often tend to be over cautious. If George dies and drops his golden armor it will be relatively useless to Dream.
Everyone always fails to realize that the compasses don’t actively track, they have to click the compasses to track his current location, and so when he enters the Nether they don’t think to check his location again because that would ruin their last known location. They try and find the portal and enter the Nether before tracking again.
Dream uploaded a video on his clips explaining this scenario. They have to click to update their compass. When he goes into the nether and they click after, they will lose their way to the portal. Dream knew they wouldn’t update their compass until they found the portal. Hence why they didn’t locate him, as they didn’t know he came back out
sapnap wanted to flood the bottom because he knew if dream knocked him off he would live, and if dream jumped down he would probably be killed by the others. it really was a smart play, just executed poorly

The problem was that a few members went off to get another water source and Sam dropped into a ravine after accidentally mining into levitating sand. Everyone was out of position.

Scenario 1: Sapnap jumps down and dream dies on the tower Scenario 2: Sapnap jumps down and dream knocks him off the tower, but he lands in water. Dream is still trapped. If dream jumps down as well, Sapnap/the other hunters kill him on the ground because he has no sprint and is in water.

Also your other points are good, which is why i said it was executed poorly. the concept itself was strategic Also them not knowing his health is exactly the point of Sapnap wanting to flood the bottom. Obviously if he knew his health he would have just jumped and crit him easily, but since he didn't, he knew there was a chance dream would knock him off the tower. Flooding the bottom ensured that there was no way anyone but dream would die.
@@johannvantassel4604 add to that I think the plan was to flood the bottom so the water was flowing *towards* the tower so dream would be no sprint trying to swim against the current to get away from 5 people. I think dream explained this in the analysis he did of this manhunt but I may be misremembering and someone had just said this in the comments idk for sure

The trick with the clay in rivers is similar to the lapis trick. 1.18 changed it a little, but what you do is find a small 5 block clay patch, go 6 blocks south from the middle, then dig down and there's a high chance of finding diamonds.
i haven't watched the analysis video yet but iirc someone actually asked the guy who came up with that trick and while it doesn't work in 1.18, there are so many diamonds you can just find them anyway
With the TNT at the end, the main thing that made that work is dream threw down a bunch of random crap so they were distracted by what he was dropping and not looking up, at least for a moment
When it comes to Dream tricking the Hunters by leaving the Nether immediately after entering it, there's a good reason they didn't use a compass. It gives the Hunters a current snapshot of Dream's position when used, but if the Hunters use it after Dream enters a different realm, like the Nether or End, it will tell the Hunters that Dream is nowhere to be found. So the Hunters only used Dream's last known position before entering the Portal, because updating it would typically make it harder for the Hunters to find Dream's Portal. If they lose Dream's Portal, they lose time. So they waited until after entering the Portal to update the compass.

If you watch the bonus scenes, you'll see that George's deaths were not that unreasonable. The path involved multiple forced drops, hostile mobs of multiple types, and fairly difficult parkor. The hunters just kept telling him to navigate that with no tools or armor, saying they'd give him equipment when he arrived. After showing everybody the path, they all agreed that such a journey would be treacherous. HBomb only predicting using the tree to get a little distance by using it as an obstacle, NOT instantly teleporting to the top of it.
He didn't call it. He only thought of using it as an instant obstacle, not pearling to the top as an instant tower (which held a convenient supply of wood).
Here is how the Compass works: If you hold the compass it will always Show dream's location, if not, it will stay pointing at his last location, which means the moment he went to the nether it should be pointing towards the Portal, if they hold it again in their hands it will simply reset his "nonexisting location" and simply locates the spawn point as far as I know and they then cannot track down his portal anymore
When you right click with the compass, it points to his current coordinates. If he's in another dimension, the compass loses him and starts spinning. Because they think he's in the nether, they don't want to right click and lose the last coords they got, because those are probably near his nether portal. By jumping into the nether and out again, he tricked them into not resetting their compasses to buy time.
Now that I keep watching this and at 13:32 where Hbomb was saying that Sapnap was talking about himself. I realized that I don’t think Hbomb realized that Sapnap was their best fighter against Dream. Which led to why he didn’t want to jump and smack Dream.
We know he only has half a heart and no food but they don't know that. They have to assume he's at full health and diamond armor or not he's tough to beat. And if they fight him and lose, they lose all their diamond armor. So for those wondering why they don't attack him that's why. A couple of weeks ago I fell in the nether and was down to half a heart. I happened to land right in front of a ghast and he one shot me before I ever knew he was there. Don't make fun of people dying to ghasts :P
Considering that the dragon drops an egg, it makes a bit more sense that they're female, but we don't know what happened to its mate or whether they reproduce asexually. The dragon might be a single father.
You might want to compare it to Dream's analysis to get his thought process and the bonus scenes has George show just how deadly his path was to someone without equipment. Everyone was a lot more sympathetic after that.
