    Is there a difference between a power amplifier and a mixer amplifier, and how do you know which type of amplifier you need for your commercial sound system?
    On today’s Pro Acoustics Tech Talk, Nathan is talking all about power amplifiers, mixers, and mixer amplifiers. He will be defining each type as well as explaining the differences and how they each work.
    Audio Power Amplifier
    - An audio amplifier is an electronic amplifier that amplifies an input signal up to a high enough wattage to where it can drive speakers. This will take an audio signal and transform that into electrical wattage. That wattage will then drive the speaker to make the paper cone move to generate sound waves.
    Audio Mixer
    - An audio mixer is where you plug in lots of individual input sources so that you can control and adjust the actual audio signal. Some mixers are designed more for pro audio and some more for commercial audio, but the idea is they all allow you to adjust the audio signal and also match it to the appropriate output to drive an amplifier.
    Mixer Amplifier
    - A mixer amplifier combines the characteristics of a mixer and an amplifier. Mixer amps not only have amplifiers built-in but can also control multiple input sources. You can set the volumes as well as adjust bass and treble and things like that from your mixer amplifier. What's important here is not only does it allow for multiple input sources, but it makes sure that whatever device you're connecting is driving the amplifier with the appropriate signal you need to make sure you get the wattage required.

    Thanks for the video. I had a question though. I currently have a 'Harbinger Level 7' mixer with 2 PC's hooked up to it via the Ch 2/3 and Ch 4/5 which lead into the headphone out via a 1/4inch stereo to 1/8 inch stereo cable. When I turn the audio levels up I get a lot of noise, and hear I could hook it up to a powered amplifier somehow to counteract that. I am looking to buy a Shure SM7B microphone to hook into the audio mixer and then into my main PC, but I have no idea on where to start to connect them all together. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

    Hi!
    I have a PVI 6500 Powered Mixer. ( that info came from the silver tag on the back).
    I need to purchase minimally 3 cordless microphones. Would you please tell me what microphone brands are compatible? Thanks

    • @ProAcoustics
      @ProAcoustics  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Vanessa, Most any brand will interface with that unit. We suggest getting a multi-channel capable (frequency-agile) microphone to allow stacking up that many mics for simultaneous use.

    Good day, great info, but can you help me out here? I'm on a budget and thinking of getting a mixer amplifier for my church. Currently have one Keyboard a bass guitar and a drumset. what do you recommend for me?

      There are many excellent solutions on the market. Depending on your needs, you might consider the Yamaha EMX series, Mackie PMP series, or Yorkville M-Series. We recommend using Google to find a source locally for sales and warranty support. Best of luck!

    It is more a question...can we have separate mixer and amplifier connection instead of a combo type

    • @ProAcoustics
      @ProAcoustics  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, you can definitely have a separate mixer and amplifier in your audio system instead of using a mixer/amplifier combo. In fact, many professional audio setups prefer separate components for greater flexibility and control.

    How much watt the mixer amplifier pushes if you connect a speaker to it?

    • @ProAcoustics
      @ProAcoustics  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The watts that a mixer amplifier pushes to a speaker will depend on the watts that the speaker is set at. Many 70-volt commercial speakers allow you to adjust the amount of watts the speaker will pull using tap settings.
      Check out this video where we explain how to choose your amplifier and properly set your speaker tap setting: th-cam.com/video/-omIOiKUrdw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=k9JHajGZ9b8qQKfD&t=86

    I have not been able to get an answer to a question I have about Mixer-amps, so hopefully someone here can enlighten me. Can an active sub-woofer be connected to a line out or aux out on a mixer amp that does not have a dedicated output for a sub-woofer/LFE?
