I understand the kids question. My wife and I tried for 8 years before having our daughter through IVF 3 months ago. I understand the hurt and frustration about having to say it doesn't bother you when deep down you are frustrated. I know so many people didn't mean to be rude or hurtful but you are right it's a hard thing to always put a happy face on about. We were married for 11 years and it was always a question and it truly sucked.

I wish you the best combating your anxiety. I know that exercise and sunlight have helped me fight off depression, which is often a sign of anxiety and vice versa. Regular exercise... 20-30 minutes daily, or more, just walking for instance, which is what I mostly do, helps so much. Sunshine helps your body to produce Vitamin D, which is HUGE in keeping your body healthy, not just for strong bones, but for gut health, physical health fighting illnesses, or even preventing them. And also found to greatly help fight depression. There have been many studies in recent years to show the beneficial effects of Vitamin D, and the vast majority of us are deficient in Vitamin D. Take a good look at Mayo Clinic, or CDC, or NIH or other health facilities and experts to read more about these studies. And it can't hurt to get yourself tested for Vitamin D levels. You may need a supplement and if you have a doctor who is forward thinking regarding preventative health care, that should be easy to make happen. Wishing you the best in your fight against anxiety. (p.s. hormone levels can sometimes be off too, and I'm not talking about just "male/female" hormones, but our whole body is regulated by hormones! Depression, Anxiety, weight gain and loss, digestion of food, etc. etc. etc. all hormone based, which are essentially just chemical reactions within our physical body)
(p.s.s. I am not a doctor, but have been in the Medical field as a former EMT and later as a Medical Laboratory Technician)

    • @bsballer11
      @bsballer11 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@kblewis3331 Greatly appreciate the words. I've already contacted my doctor about getting my levels tested on a regular basis. Up until 2 months ago I never really worked out. Never needed to as I've always been skinny and healthy (to an extent.) lol But I'll look into everything else. Thank you!

Hi Summer. I’ve been a RN for 15 years, and I so agree (especially the past two years) with your healthcare view. I still haven’t figured out what else I want to do, but when I leave nursing I know I’ll never go back to it. I’m glad I found you and your family, you all are good people. 😊

That was an awesome Q&A. 👍
And yes, it's God's will if you have children, to which I can attest from experience. I was married twice before and have 3 grown children from those whom I was fortunate enough to raise and love dearly. I remarried a 3rd time in 2007 and believe me, we tried. We aalllllll-most gave up on it, and then my lovely wife became pregnant in 2013 and had a baby at the age of 40. That little girl turns 8 this April. She's muh pride-n-joy. 🤩

Having a sister that has had fertility issues, I Hate when people ask couples if or when they are going to have children. I agree, you should really stop and think before you ask that question. I also admire your decision about nursing. I have been an RN for 38 years. Most of my career was in the hospital setting. I now do telephone triage. Nursing is hard! Do what makes you happy and yes you can always go back to it someday if you chose.

The way my daughter put it about kids was she wanted time to do college, get a good job, and have some time to just enjoy life as an adult. Then she'd have a kid. If she hasn't had one by 30, there wouldn't be any. I love your gardening, thrifting and home remodel videos. I'm jealous of some of the things you find thrifting. I never find anything that nice in any of the thrift stores by me.

Hi Summer! I totally understand the pregnancy question. I had one pregnancy in my 20’s which I lost at 15 weeks. Never another. Always asked and despite my heartache I always answered with an upbeat response. At 30, two weeks after my yearly exam with my doctor since I was 18 I had a pain like I cannot describe in my right side. Took me to the floor and I almost blacked out. Mother took me to the ER where fortunately the top OB/GYN happened to be on call. After my exam I started to sit up and he literally pushed me back down. No way other than to say this he said but….you have a tumor so large it’s filled your entire abdominal cavity and has no where to go. If you sneeze, cough, tie your shoes or bend in any way and it ruptures there’s nothing we can do. My heart stopped and my Mom’s face said it all. What? I’d just had an exam! Shortly I could hear the ER doctor literally screaming at someone. Then I realized it was my OB/GYN!!!!!!
Telling him how incompetent he was and he shouldn’t have a license and he better pray he could get me through this or he would recommend a lawsuit for malpractice!!!! Omg! He had been one of the best in town. I just remember being admitted and bed rest only. No getting up, period! Massive antibiotics for 2 days then a 4 hour surgery and a 12” incision. Thank goodness he kept me sedated in ICU those 2 days. After the surgery he woke me up saying he got it. It was on my right ovary and my left was growing one too. He kept saying it wasn’t cancer! I didn’t know he suspected that. He had no idea after massive hormone, thyroid and every other tests he could run what was going on. Years later a hysterectomy. Then…….I found out at 40 what caused everything. Auto immune disease. Full blown Lupus, RA and Psoriatic Arthritis. Sometimes God has other plans for us and that’s okay. I raised 2 beautiful step-children that filled my heart with joy and now my great-nieces and nephews do. Even though my dream didn’t happen I was and am blessed. I was somehow able during all that illness to get my nursing license also. God bless sweetheart. 🌺

I love gardening, remodeling, thrifting, refinishing furniture and learning new ideas and things! Never tried the oils but would like to. Would love more details on what you use and how you use it. When it comes to having children, that's a pretty personal question! You handled all of the questions with such grace! I think couples should take time to do all the things you want to do before you have kids. Plus I think it makes the relationship stronger in preparation for that day as it will change your life forever. Take the time to do all the crazy fun things you can think of to do now! I see a cute little girl with blondie curls in your future! It will happen when the time is right! God's got this! Thanks for sharing your journey!

I hope you're considering getting infertility assessment. I went through it in my early thirties, I never got a definite answer why we didn't have kids. I just know it can take time and the sooner you figure out what is causing the issue the more likely you could fix it. But the Lord does provide us with what we need.

Summer, Right now I'm sat here a wise old 61 years of age. We got married in 1985 and for the first 5 years just had a hoot together. Never really considered kids as a subject until our families became "concerned" . It was like, revelation! Oh! Yes. OK. So we got Caitlin and moved on. When we! decided for another it took a long time to get Tom! 5 years. My advice to you is, stay private, optimistic and when the day comes pretty much keep your baby to yourselves with guest appearances. Very much enjoy listening to your fresh approach to life. Regards Stephen.

Thanks, Summer, great video. Many times people just don’t know what to say so they ask standard questions such as plans for starting a family. I was only 19 when we married so got that question endlessly. Five or so years later we felt ready, but the Lord had other plans. We actually had people asking us if we liked kids or not (at the time we were youth leaders, Sunday School teachers, VBS leaders, etc.). We are private people so did not share with anyone that we had gone through basic fertility testing and procedures with no results or answers. We trusted that God had everything under control but will admit constant questions or comments about having kids was tough sometimes. We did after much prayer investigate adoption and adopted a newborn baby girl (who is now around your age). Two years later we looked in to adopting again and ended up conceiving and now also have a boy (actually now a 21 year old man). Long story short, just an encouragement not to let people’s questions discourage you as most really do mean well and as you stated to also encourage others to think before feeling the need to ask as it is a very personal situation and they really may not be aware of struggles or discouragement being experienced in that area. Thank you for being such a lovely, kind, and sweet encouragement to us ❤️

    *⏩ Friendly suggestion:*
I'd wait until you're at least 30 to have kids. Then do all the things you want to do NOW and really really ENJOY it (especially things, trips, etc. with your husband.) Kids are definitely the very best part of life, but they also take up ALL of your, and your husband's time. *When you are ready to have kids, start taking your temperature every day at about the same time. When it goes up, you're ovulating.* I'm a devout Christian also, and this technique worked great for us, and for both of our children. It was told to me by my devout Christian MD and worked like a charm right away!

I needed surgery and medication to get my 3 children. Don’t wait too long before seeking help or testing.

As a woman who was married 8 yrs before having children-2; girl then boy-we tried for 6 of those 8 yrs. Although I wished they would have come sooner, I would not trade those 8 yrs. Alot of fun was had. Downside? Husband suffered a TBI when son was turning 3 (he will be 19 this year) & was not a 'hands on parent'. I've pretty much raised them myself. Yes. We are still married and he is able to work & do everything. A bit of a speech impediment as a result. Short tempered too. Cause of TBI? Motorcycle vs double trailered semi with no helmet. He was on his way to work on a summer day in July. Anyway, I'm a state away in Illinois and have watched yours & Cole's channels for quite some time. Glad you & Jay are trusting your process through the baby issue. It can be very emotional & stressful.

My goodness but you are wise beyond your years. You exemplify Piety. Write books. Consider a speaking tour. Go from school to school offering to speak at assemblies. Offer to appear on your local TV station explaining how to live a life. The world will become a better place.

Me and my wife tried for 8 years. Got pregnant and had a miscarriage. I used to be quite rude when people asked that question. Then all of a sudden boom we r pregnant. As you said god has a plan. I am glad you explained that it’s not just gonna happen because you got married.

We married at 21 and had our only child at 30. I had one miscarriage at 29. We tried for more until we were 37. We were very much in the area that God will let us know. We had no more but we were blessed with our wonderful 29 year old daughter.

Try taking magnesium for anxiety. I left medical field also, I refer to it as a sick care system.

Good Q & A time, one of the things I was curious about was your relationship with God. I kinda figured your family is Godly people, but not much is ever mentioned, but I could tell. Thank you for answering that question. Good luck with the new job.

I enjoy and love your families faith and it is a power many do not understand. We would move to Iowa from Minnesota to get away from the looong winters. We have a daughter in Peoria Ill. and we love it in the area where you live when passing through to visit her. Thank you for the video!!

I struggle with anxiety as well it has tried to control my life since family loses and being hit head on by drunk driver which put my wife in a coma for six months prayer at her hospital bed daily our faith in God pulled her through. She is still recovering from traumatic brain injury. Anxiety is a dark spirit which seems to control and destroy it's victims. My faith in Jesus is my strength and helps me overcome daily. I love watching TH-cam you and Cole are channels we watch and like and my wife likes Nave's worship videos. I pray for your family to always trust in God's mercy and grace and Overcome Always.
