    I’m so glad I found your channel because I recently purchased both a bass and lead guitar to learn how to play some of the classic music I grew up listening to as a child of the 1960s. I should have done this fifty two years ago when I first saw kids my age (Tito and Jermaine Jackson) playing guitar. But this is how l’m gonna spend my retirement years.

    James the toughest part for me with these riffs is the timing. I guess with practice I’ll get the feel.

    How does the count off relate the the bass line, when you count off 2-3-4 or 3-4 or 1-2-3-4 or & 3-4 n the like?

    • @ebassguitar
      @ebassguitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’ll very from track to track depending on how it’s edited... but the first beat of the band is always the down beat or beat 1 of the bar

    • @shooz4unme
      @shooz4unme 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm not sure if that low E on the first riff works over a Cm

    • @ebassguitar
      @ebassguitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s why I said you might want to tweak some of the riffs ultimately… but to demonstrate a concept it works

    • @martinheath5947
      @martinheath5947 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It definitely works. Brief dissonances create tension and release in a bass line. Jamerson was master of chromatic twists and used 'wrong' notes in many of his most famous parts

    Sorry, but your notation is incorrect above. The rhythm on the first beat is an 8th and two sixteenths with the second sixteenth tied to the second beat. Also, in the fourth beat, it should be two-sixteenths ending with an eighth on the "and" of four.
