Great to see the big dogs out on the water again, do you have any plans to do some behind the scenes with each team, you could try a feature on a different team each episode, and have a deeper dive into the boat and it's systems even the infrastructure of how the teams travel.
Could do with some more engine noise too ;)
i saw one of these kinds of boats in newjersey in a marina while i wwas detailing some yachts and omfg was i blown away i had no idea it was this serious of a race boat

I love boat racing I start working there being a cleaner and I still do it for many many years at the Saint Clair boat race in July at 28th to 29th and the 30th you've got to be there awesome lenders food vendors live music right off the shore I think clay river and you can see the big boats come by fun for the whole family spread the news and let the friends know we there every year can't miss it take care
I'm in Ontario. I watch from the other side of the river. I'll come across the US side maybe next year. This year we're being forced to use a Canadian Gov arrival app.

It suffers same as other racng forms....organizers think the weekend is ABOUT the race.
It's about the party.

No return on investment, network tv and prize money. 4 mile course is not offshore powerboat racing.
The 2008 recession, Fountain going out of business and Dave Scott and Budweiser leaving all around the same time really killed it for awhile.
After that turbine class folded and people started racing the same hulls for years with a lot of people buying old Victory copies of the Callans instead of seeing new designs every few years. The Big MTI 48/52s and the Mystic C500r were the last big race cats designed as far as I know and both were over a decade ago.
This isn't some much of a sport as it as a very rich mans idea of a fun weekend. The drivers are typically the owners and throttlemen hired guns so the status of the sport has far more to do with the status of the business than most.

What is are the common causes of breakdowns on these boats?? Twin turbo V8 sounds simple enough
It’s a DOHC 9liter twin turbo v8 made my mercury that produces 1100hp that’s running at 8500/9k rpm’s for literally hours…
On a surface that is constantly changing. The force from Landing back in the water. Things break. There’s not one common or few common things. Things can’t handle the physical stress and pressure the water makes. Then running at 7k rpm’s for 4 hours. Much much different then road racing, drag racing. Literally nothing compares to offshore and hydroplane racing. Absolutely nothing.

H1 Unlimited Hydroplane boats are actially the fastest boats on the planet. These Class 1 boats see speeds of 210 km/h (130 mph) H1 Unlimited regularly see speedscin excess of 310 km/h (or 195 mph).

There hittin 150 in the straights. Super cat class is hittin 130 with there twin 750s

I don't appriciate it when a professional commentator does not know the topic they are commentating on. It's not professiuonal in the least, and it's disrespectful of the sport.
I do my utmost to either know enough about a topic to comment on it, or keep my offerings phrased as questions offered toward someone I know has a solid track-record that has a result that is undeniable.
One thing that is awesome is, there are a LOT of really AWESOME KINDS of RACING!

There isn’t going to be a lot of boat the first year. Never is for new classes.
Also if 5 boats is such a problem for you then why don’t go get yourself 40-50ft cat with surface drives and 1100 mercs…

This industry is non self sustainable..after the Drug $$ disappeared in the late 1980s. The whole racing world went on the Decline..all those gorgeous boats n glamour is all paid..Out of racers/owners pockets...now it basically a Hobby for the wealthy...with very limited boats n events
