This justified why I won’t give up my TD4 Freelander, she’s 18 years old, one of the last good Land rovers before they went all poncy. Thanks for a great blog!

Even though I also have the Freelander TD4 2Ltr, I'd say both vehicles here did pretty well although could preform much better with off road tires.
I'd say the Freelander did a very good job, considering it's a limited edition Sport model, being more road bias with lowered suspension and 18" wheels . Plus it's 1990's technology.

I can beat any dacia in deep snow or offroad. Land rover is not best ever, but compared to duster is offroad god. Ofc you need good tyres and experience, not only floor it until it get stuck

Nu stiu cum funcționează 4x4 la Freelander. E un soi de esp+torsen? Se vede clar cand fața aluneca se cuplează spatele. Trage doar fața+spate sau cuplează si stânga+dreapta?
Ma gândeam sa iau un LR F1 facelift. Au prețuri f mici, dar am auzit ca sunt si stricacioase de fel.. Oricum LR stock se descurca excelent
There is a viscous coupling in the drivetrain between the gearbox and the rear wheels. Normally the Freelander is front wheel drive only, but when there is a difference of speed between the front and back wheels (indicating that one or both front wheels are slipping) then 4 wheel drive is engaged. The traction control unit independently applies the brakes (using the abs system) to how ever many wheels are slipping, to force drive power to those wheels with grip. Clever system, but it does have it's weaknesses.

Ten Freelander to model „Sport”. Była to bardziej „szosowa” wersja, która miała obniżone zawieszenie i 18-calowe koła z oponami o niższym profilu, co zapewniało większą jazdę po drogach. Do tego ma co najmniej 16-18 lat, bazując na technologii off-roadowej z lat 90. Nieźle w porównaniu z „nowymi” " technologia.

This freelander is Sport model with 18” wheels and also 2” lowered compared to standard model. It is not make for off road but to look good. I use to have FL, with 15-16” wheels and good tires, snow like this is just joke for hippo.

Am parcurs un traseu de off roud de vis. Drumul forestier lucava de jos cătunul iedul pina în cirlibaba . A fost extrem de palpitant.

Dusterul noul model le face in off-road pe multe branduri mari! Si are avantaje ff mari fata de resturile suvurilor,atat in greutate,cat si in cuplul tractiuni e bine gandit!
