I have my random stalker chance a bit higher than default and I started another Invictus ironman run a few days ago and directly outside of Rookie Village I ran into a 6 man squad of Monolith lol I had a toz and an APS with a leather jacket and respirator for protection. I managed to kill all 6 of them with just an APS and on top of that I only had 2 lives for the entire playthrough so it was pretty sketchy
@@mclarenf1gtr99 well considering I have completed several invictus runs and have atleast 800 hours total playtime with gamma alone you would be incorrect. There was no reason not to fight them, it was right at the start of the playthrough so if I died I could have just started another run. I got shit tons of solid gear/weapons off of them and started the run off really strong because I decided the reward was worth the risk.
I just started a playthrough with the UNISG faction, they are pretty much like mercs. Its hard! Most of the missions you can take from the merc faction are in places you are not prepared to be at the beginning of the game or places that make you cross completely hostile areas to reach while being so poor equiped.
you don't have to use a multitool to take parts out, you can take them out by right clicking on the gun and select field strip, only use the multi tool to take the barrel out of the gun if you want to use the barrel on a similar gun provided you have the right set of tools and the right repair kit as well as the right set of gun parts to swap out the parts, otherwise, you'll be destroying the gun for nothing, also, you can still use guns that have parts less than 60% condition on guns if you want to fix up guns for immediate use if you don't have basic tools or repair kits, just clean the gun using the right cleaning spray, then swap the parts into the gun and you're good to go, avoid using guns with barrels around 5-10% condition, but anywhere from 35-45% even 50% you can still take with you to fix up, it's not optimal, but it's better than nothing, especially if parts are in similar condition around 35-45% which will jam, but you can fix jams, keep those parts until you can find better parts you can fix above 60% or buy from technicians, swap them in, and you get better parts, even better if you find a similar weapon with a better barrel if you have the better parts for your previous weapon, just swap the parts from your previous weapon into the weapon with the better barrel (don't forget to clean it first) and you're good to go
I appreciate the comment but I would like to point out I made the Repair guide used in the FAQ on the Gamma discord server. I mostly took them apart to sell all the parts because they're not guns I want to use. I could just throw them on the ground after removing everything but the barrel, however the money from selling those barrels is still useful and I'll want to have the multitool for later.
That's a pretty accurate assessment. The 2002 book Metro 2033 and the games took a fair bit of inspiration from Stalker, which was based on the 1972 book Roadside Picnic and the 1979 film Stalker. Stalker itself isn't so much related to Tarkov but Stalker Gamma has a number of features from Escape From Pripyat, the Stalker modpack based on Tarkov, since the creator of Gamma, Grok, worked on EFP. The ballistic system, health system, weapon repair system, and a few other features are definitely Tarkov inspired.
@@reallybiggaming Fair enough, even with that and disabling campfire saving - at least you started mercs so it still looks challenging and interesting. nicely done!
Do the Mercs get the story missions and leader assigned missions? I always wanted to roleplay as a Merc in previous Stalker games and finally mustered up the courage to try Gamma. Hopefully I won't get rekt too much 🤣 Edit: Also wanted to ask how you enable the minimap on top left?
Considering a variety and number of weapons, but bugs and crashes as well, is it better going for pROvAK's 2.6 Overhaul, or simply going with GAMMA? Which one in your opinion is more worthy of downloading?
I don't know too much about pROvAK's but I can say that Gamma has a large variety of weapons, an active and helpful discord community, near constant updates and is stable. It uses its own installer so it's easy to update too. My best advice is to give both a try and see which you prefer or read through their pros and cons. Gamma is my preference, it changes the standard Anomaly gameplay loop to be much longer and more challenging without relying on overwhelming difficulty but instead focusing on changing the economy overall. Hope this helps.
Sorry for the very late reply. For some reason, I didn't get notified about this comment. (Im sure you already found out) Killing Monolith, lost signal missions, and looting other dead Mercs are the main methods. You can also get lucky and find them in stashes rarely.
So, I'm kinda new to this mod, I already played 10 hours or so as a loner, but I got bored, being a merc sounds very fun tho, so I started in Dead City and... every mission I get from everyone leads me out to high psy zones, I know I have to get the psy helmet from Yantar, but is this 100% mandatory? As a merc, I don't want to befriend ecologysts, but I don't think I can get out of this tiny zone without their help. Anyone can tell me if I can do anything else?
It's mandatory but you don't need to befriend them. They're neutral by default and as long as you have the money you can walk right up and buy it. After you get it feel free to murder them to your hearts content though I wouldn't recommend it. I'd also recommend going to the south. Mercs are friendly with Clear Sky so you can get some decent jobs from them.
I've been to a lot of them throughout my playthrough and I provide plenty of tips and advice. I'm also always glad to help. You can even join my discord for more.
My first series was a more casual playthrough. I'm playing on the hardest settings outside of Ironman and avoiding fast travel on my new one. Sadly, that one isn't a merc playthrough.
How come your stalker has an english voice? Is it cause you started as a merc? If so will being a loner then changing to merc change the voice actor too?
@@reallybiggaming Ok, I tested it again now, and I'm not even closely as fast as you in this video. (with basically nothing on me) Do you have different settings somewhere, or is it the newer gamma version that is causing it?
Are you wearing an armor that increases movement speed? Light armors generally increase movement speed. Weight carried can lower your speed but armor is the primary effect.
I know what you mean, my favorite faction has always been Clear Sky but I wanted more action and challenges for this playthrough. Luckily Gamma buffs the disguise system which I will explore more in a later episode.
Pseudogiant right at the beginning... Welcome to STALKER Anomaly guys!
Still can't figure out what happened to the first one.
I just killed my first two back to back and thier bodies were both empty :/
Its refreshing to watch a play through that doesnt exactly go to plan. Makes it more relatable lol
Finally, a Gamma player who isnt a Loner, a very nice refreshment indeed
Hahahaha.... so true!!! 99% of playthroughs we see on youtube are loners.

It's moments like that that make the game so much more exciting.
if your first instinct at beginning is to fight 6 monoliths instead of running, then your probability of winning an invictus run is close to 0%.

Solid content, let's go
would've been nice to see your starting settings, especially the combat and economy difficulty setting you're playing on
I believe they're just the medium settings. Not the easiest but not the hardest. I think I was setting things up and didn't record it.

Do you think the mercenaries chose their base around that statue of lenin as an fu to communism or because it seemed like a good place at the time? 😉

Yes the mercs get access to most of the story missions. The minimap should be on one of the slash keys.

How can you save without a fire?
In the first episode I had Campfire saving disabled in the MCM options under YACS. I changed that in the later episodes.
How are you running so fast?
Having less weight let's you run faster. Certain armors also increase sprint speed. The red jacket is the best one for speed.
