Honestly this episodes jokes were based around alotta writing tools, tropes, and theorie and technique. Writers poked fun at themselves alot throughout. If its not something your into alotta the jokes will be lost. I fw it but i get why alotta ppl just get confused and bored. 10/10 imo

It’s a toy train that basically creates stories from the figures inside it, and when you get shoved out the window like the tickets please guy it creates a whole separate mini universe within their mind. So all that shit at the end where Rick and Morty got thrown out of the train was real and not real at the same time. If they hadn’t gotten pulled back inside they would have lived through those alternate lives until their bodies that were still in the train died, I.E. when Morty mercy killed the tickets please guy his universe collapsed

@@AAC14156 it was the first step towards how the show's writers began to stop caring about the show having a satisfying narrative, treating their canon as a chore they'd rather ignore and do the bare minimum of, instead of actually making something compelling like is their fucking jobs. This becomes an actual problem in s5 when moments that should have weight and a degree of seriousness are treated like they're nothing. Compare the S2 finale to the S5 finale. You understand how massive a difference there is there, right? One's an emotionally resonant season finale with a cliffhanger that keeps you hooked, the other's a pisstake that leaves you with no desires to see anything further of the series. Despite S5's finale having much larger scale and consequence attatvhed to it, it completely fails, because the writers no longer give a shit. It's an embarrassment and while S6 is a step up it's still a fucking embarrassment.
I think that this episode came out during the pandemic at a time people were not buying things. Hence his capitalism rant near the end saying to buy things.
Watching your reactions vids, made me pick the show back up. Season 4, is my least favorite thus far. it's oddly so sexual and just freaking weird. Just finished S-5, wow.. just wow.
@@fritz_108 that’s also the problem is you have to be updated with the meta. if you show someone a meta referenced episode 10 years from now it seems very dated and majority of the time misses the mark for the long term. for example, if you go back to even TH-cam in 2008-2010 with how many meta references were then it’s kinda cringe looking back at it now.
