The song was produced by Axlerod and his orchestra performs it. The Song was written and composed by David McCallum who recently passed this week. (You might know him as "Duckie" from NCIS. He also starred on the 1960's tv show The Man from U.N.C.L.E.)
Dream Dream Serene no it’s not it’s called replaying he had Axelrod come in and play it that’s not sampling and anyone who’s ever cleared a sample will tell you that
Sheeva Matimbas not really. Axelrods catalogue is so extensive. His songs of innocence album is a true masterpiece and even is other works are amazing. A lot of his works were sampled before dr Dre. But to say the youth... im pretty sure you’re referring to African American youth right?
Nice to see how David Axelrod acts out the emotions behind the track... well... at least he's doing something. Love this guy, I just think it's a bit awkward him standing there without any use to the band... But did he write great music... If you only know this track and love this style and his specific ('baroque') sound, look for more of his music.
+Lisa Haugen He's certainly a hero of mine so please people stop defending David Axelrod because I wasn't insulting him in any way. Love this performance. Love the guy. But most of all, I love this music, as it inspired me to write a whole album dedicated to this era. So tell me again how he's conducting this piece, please, I'm not bored of it yet.
Honestly, his albums are LOS ANGELES. Its why the Next episode was such a hit in LA because it fit that LA narrative for a new generation(demographic). But THE FLY, Song of Innocence , House of Mirrors just give me goosebumps when I'm driving through Los Angeles in the night. The scenic views and the bustling-hustling nightlife....like no other
the gig I really regret missing and could of gone too , although Missin Linx sampled this way before Dre did and did a better job of it. Check out all Axelrods music, its phenomenal
“The Edge” is from 1967 (I think) and Dr. Dre is from 1999. So Snoop Dog used The Edge, made the pitch ever-so-slightly higher, and then overlayed some rapping on top of the song, I’m not really sure if Snoop Dog even got permission to use The Edge in the Dr. Dre Song. (i am not tryin to criticize snoop dog, im just saying)
In actually leaning towards Dre sampling this piece and the realizing nobody claimed it and made his own and used the law to make it his. I’m positive I didn’t say that right, but you know what I’m saying.
Correct. You are wrong. Saying he realized “nobody claimed it, made it his own”, implies he didn’t credit or pay any royalties, when in fact he did. As Axelrod himself said, the sampling royalties gave him “🖕you” money.
How are you 80 years old, a decorated musician and composer, but not know how to use a simple microphone. It's a 58 my mans, just point it at you and speak INTO it.
The REAL O.G, David Axelrod
Devin Ross Dope how he intro'ed into the set by letting you know that the royalties paid the band fees.

Underrated comment😂
thats how you SAMPLE pay the ORIGINAL ARTIST WHAT THEY ARE WORTH. DR DRE YOU ARE THE GREATEST.
Wait, what
I'm sure he just got royalties off of the next episode.
@@rlucas96 something like $1000 a week even years later, according to an interview with David

I think he deliberately speaking while the orchestra played, so he look like he is rappin. Cool

tarararara, it's the muthafcuking D.R.E
Dre didn't sample the actual record he had musicians actually come in and play the music...axelrod has embraced hip hop just as Bob James did.
+getyoasshome It was a mix of live instrumentation and sampling.
@@mightymastodon1 its called interpolation and sampling

So many casual rap fans. Masta Ace also sampled this record on 'No Regrets'.
