ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಗುರುಪೂರ್ಣಿಮೆಯ ಶುಭಾಶಯಗಳು.
ನಾನು ಚಿಕ್ಕವನಾಗಿದ್ದಾಗ, ಪ್ರತಿ ಸೋಮವಾರ ನನ್ನ ತಾಯಿ ಶಾಲೆಯಿಂದ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನೇರ ರಥಬೀದಿಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊದಲಿಗೆ ಅನಂತೇಶ್ವರನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿ, ತದನಂತರ ಕೃಷ್ಣನ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನ ಮತ್ತೆ ಗುರು ರಾಘವೇಂದ್ರ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ದರ್ಶನ. ನನ್ನ ಖುಷಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಕಾರಣ "ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ" ಅಂಗಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಾವು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಆ 5 ಸ್ಟಾರ್ ಚಾಕ್ಲೆಟ್. ನಮ್ಮ ಸೋಮವಾರದ ದಿನಚರಿಯ ಸಂಭ್ರಮ ಹೀಗಿರುತ್ತಿತ್ತು.
ಪ್ರತಿಬಾರಿ ನಾವು ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದಾಗ ನನಗೆ ಅದರ ಹಿಂದಿರುವ ಕಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಎಲ್ಲಿಲ್ಲದ ಕುತೂಹಲ. ಒಂದಷ್ಟು ಕಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ಅಮ್ಮ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು, ಇನ್ನುಳಿದ ಕುತೂಹಲಕ್ಕೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಜನರು ಬೆಳಕು ಚೆಲ್ಲುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು
ಉಳಿದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ನನ್ನನು ಅತ್ಯಂತವಾಗಿ ಸೆಳೆದಿದ್ದು "ಅನಂತೇಶ್ವರನ" ಸನ್ನಿಧಿ. ಕಾರಣ, ಶಿವ ನನ್ನ ಇಷ್ಟದೈವ. ಆದರೆ ಶಿವನಿಗೆ ಸಮರ್ಪಿತವಾದ ಅನಂತೇಶ್ವರನ ದೇಗುಲವು ಲಿಂಗಸ್ವರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಪರಶುರಾಮರು ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದಾಗ, ಸಹಸ್ರಾರು ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳು ಕಾಡಲಾರಂಭಿಸಿತು. ಇನ್ನೂ ಉತ್ತರಗಳನ್ನು ಅರಸುತ್ತಾ ನಾನು ಸುತ್ತುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ಅದಕ್ಕೆ- ಏನೋ ನಾನೊಬ್ಬ ಕಥೆಗಾರನಾಗಬೇಕು ಎನ್ನುವ ಹಂಬಲ ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ್ದು.
ಇದೇ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ "ನಾ ಕಂಡಂತೆ" ಒಂದು ಸಂವಾದಾತ್ಮಕ ಸರಣಿ. ನಮ್ಮ ಪುರಾಣಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಬರಿ ಕಥೆಗಳಲ್ಲ, ಅವು ಪುರಾತನ ಕಾಲದಿಂದ ನಮಗೆ ಬಳುವಳಿಯಾಗಿ ಬಂದಂತಹ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಹಾಗೂ ಮನುಜಕುಲವನ್ನು ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ವಿಕಾಸಗೊಳಿಸುವಂತಹ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ. ನಾವು ಈ ಇತಿಹಾಸವನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ಆಧುನಿಕ ಕಥೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಡವಳಿಸಿ ಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವೆ ಎನ್ನುವ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗೆ "ನಾ ಕಂಡಂತೆ" ಸರಣಿಯ ಮುಂಬರುವ ಸಂಚಿಕೆಗಳು ಉತ್ತರವಾಗಲಿವೆ.

Happy Guru Poornima everyone
As a kid, every Monday my mom used to pick us up from school and take us to temples on Car Street. Our routine was to visit Ananteshwara temple, followed by the Krishna temple and then Guru Raghavendra temple. A 5 star chocolate at Sampoorna store was a treat of the week. Every time we visited the temple, my curiosity was to know the stories behind them. Mom would tell me few and for the rest, I would find people in the temple who would fuel my imagination.
It was the Ananteshwara temple which fascinated me the most. For Shiva was my favourite of all. But the day I realised that the temple which was dedicated to my lord was actually Parashurama as a linga Swaroopa, I was taken a back. Many questions arose in me which led to 1000 more and I am still finding the answers. I believe this is the reason why I want to be a story teller. I want to connect the dots.
Naa Kandante is an interactive video series on these lines. Our puranas and itihasas aren’t just stories but they are philosophical representation of scientific studies of Ancient times. The science which will help human kind in its evolution. And can we adopt these philosophies in our modern day stories? Yes we can and how beautifully. Watch out for this series and yes, welcome to my world of cinema ☺️
