You don’t need to get the barrier up, just respawn using the ring shooter and it'll put you back somewhere behind that barrier.

I also found (accidentally) that if you die, you do the process all OVER again. That also means you gotta reinput the password.
This process for a joke character is unbelievable…

if you use a key to unlock Mal it breaks the game making it impossible to get the ring guy

@@Pikzelow a friend of mine found out the hard way. they used a key to bypass the the max ring challenge, and thus broke their game. They have let the devs know
