    The beauty of photography is stuff happens things change so making photos of what we see now could take on more importance with the passing of time....WTF am I wittering on about? Well the shot of the Mangaone bridge towards the end of the video is no longer there. It was swept away on February 14th 2023 when Cyclone Gabrielle packed a right proper tantram wreaking havoc and destruction on our region, plenty of videos of the aftermath on my channel. Keep shooting everything, today it might seem normal and mundane, tomorrow it might be gone.

      Sounds good mate, the Rollei is a cracking compact camera, I'm struggling with zone focus, really need to put more effort into it, I did pick up a cheap external rangefinder at a charity shop so might use that with the Rollei. Tanks for watching mate all the very best for the new camera and the new year.

      Cheers mate appreciate it. Definitely give film a go although I love and rely on digital these days it’s kind of too easy with film when you get a decent shot you get the feeling you’ve worked for it I dunno just something special about the look and feel of a film photograph. There’s a place for both digi and film and no one is better or worse they’re different and keep the interest alive. 2022 new year great time to pick up a cheap film cam and give it a nudge mate😉📷❤️

    Very crisp shots Paul! I have a Rollei 35 as well, but I unfortunately don't use it often enough since I'm not used to zone focusing, but I definitely would like to try to practice more.

    He scored well with the 35SE. As for the meter, there is not the issue people make out for the Rollei 35 generally. All prior models require a 1.35 volt battery, a banned mercury cell, or some modification or other battery. None of that is convenient. The SE (and companion TE) use a modern meter circuit which is not voltage dependent to function accurately.. I power my SE with a battery holder which takes 4 - 1.5 volt lithium button cells, totaling 6 volts, which the camera meter system modifies to 5.6 volts or less to let the meter work as designed. Very accurate, and the lithium batteries work for many years in my experience. If you can manage the zone focusing required, and being "old school", I do not understand why this is a problem for folks, this is the ultimate Rollei 35 model, and the ultimate pocket 35mm camera. The lens was tested when the camera was issued around 1972 on the 35S, and it performed on par withe the Leica Summicon 50mm at that time, i.e., better than all others.

      More awesome info mate appreciate it the metre doesn’t bother me I’m happy to use a handheld or the sunny 16 way. I have to be honest this wee camera is a cracker I love it to bits it will Deffo get plenty of outings I love small cameras and this one is tiny but has massive potential 📷❤️

      Hey! I have lots of problems with powering my SE camera as lots of the batteries I found on the internet do not fit in the battery compartmnet. Can you please share what kind of battery holder are you using or what is your method exatcly?

    • @randallstewart1224
      @randallstewart1224 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a couple of workarounds, but the easiest, and maybe the least expensive, is to get a little, plastic tube adapter. Its outside dimensions are the same as the absent PX27(?) intended for the SE. The inner dimensions hold four tiny watch-type cells, whether alkaline, silver oxide or lithium. The lithium cells cost the most, but are cheaper to use in the long run, as they last forever. These adapters were originally made by Minox for use in their subminature cameras. When I bought a new SE a few years after Rollei died, the seller simply put one of the Minox adapters in the Rollei box. Now, they are all over ebay. One of the best ebay possibilities is from a small business in German, which offers several variations, but the neatest is a piece which replaces the entire Rollei SE/TE holder-insert with one which incorporates the adapter, includes a set of cells, and puts a cold shoe on top, relieving the nuisance of the Rollei shoe on the bottom of the camera. The major point is that having to use the diode readout for metering with the SE/TE, Rollei finally had to abandon the antiquated Gossen meter from the original Rollei 35 and use a meter with voltage regulation built-in, thus making the meter's function no longer dependent on battery voltage.

      Cheers mate I went the easy lazy way set it to infinity that’s why the distance is tack sharp and some of near face a bit fuzzy sayin that I’ll Deffo stick with this camera it’s a cracker with huge potential I just need to be more precise with distances 📷❤️

    Hi, I love the rendering of the skies, did you use any filter or is this the feature of film + developper brands ?
    what developper did you use for this Rollei 400 retro ?

    • @paultaylorphotography9499
      @paultaylorphotography9499  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey cheers mate, no filters used I just added a linear grad on the skies in Lightroom classic to bring out detail in the skies. From memory the developer was Kodak D76, It's one I can get hold of pretty easily and at a decent price. Thanks for taking a look mate.
