His entire catalog literally forms a story thats brought him to this point. The mansion that signifies his mind.( mansion album) the rooms with him and the black ballons that signify his burdens,( the search album) him in the cage with the keys in his hands (perception album) personifications of the dark emotions in his mind that you can see are him the video with the black clothes etc. He's been battling so much darkness and fear which he talks about in previous albums and for the first time in 30 years, Hope as personified by him wearing the white clothes, finally decides to take the reigns over his mind. something that hasnt been the case before. there is so much symbolism in this video, so many call backs that only someone who has followed his journey would be able to truly understand how incredible it is that he's reached this point. Its like you basically picked up a book and jumped to the middle lol. but its incredible nonethless and it was amazing watching you react to it. NF has only mentioned eminem as his influence as a rapper. He is a big fan of movies and cinematic scores and classical music which would explain why those also have an influence on his videos and instrumentals.

This is about the best analysis that one can bring someone up to speed about his video story. Also, the black balloons are IMO, a triple entendre. It depicts his dark story, depression and his mother's death of addiction.

The female vocals was from his mansion ablum. The mansion being his mind and all the different rooms hold different things like traumas, depression, abuse, etc.

Nf is known to personify emotions and feelings, nf normally wears black but the one wearing white is the personification on 'hope' (he has also dedicated a song to beating his fear). The 'my album' fight is all his personified emotions fighting over the album. There's also a lot of references to his past songs e.g. the cage, shopping cart etc. If you like this I highly recommend his song mansion and then intro 3 after 😁

    • @vZephyrus
      @vZephyrus ปีที่แล้ว +3

Also at the end when his face has the black smile on is one of his things he is known for, the black smile representing that he's got a mask on showing everyone he's smiling but they can't see what he's actually feeling. Also the white shirt turning black is saying that his other emotions (fear, anger) are trying to take over hope and silence it but hope is fighting them to take control

exactly is a great song by itself but if you know all the references then it's on another level.. him dropping into the mansion with the sample and all the references and Easter eggs like nods to the album covers and videos.

The mouth thing with the neck is his “other half” trying to break out. Same thing with the people at the beginning dressed in black. If you watch his other videos, he’s always dressed in black. But now he found the map to hope so he’s dressed in white. He’s trying to follow the map, but he’s taking directions from his darker parts of himself. So he ends up where he started. In the mansion, when it goes black, he was talking hopeful, so his darker self kidnapped him, basically saying “no, you can’t say that.” You can see a lot of references to his other songs and albums in it too.
Overall I think you did a great reaction, your expressions during the song were gold!
You also seem pretty new to NF, if you liked the “arguing with himself” part, then you should check out his “Intro 3”

I'm sure several people have mentioned take the NF Journey and I am hoping you do so. PLEASE. There were so many Easter Eggs (call backs to previous songs) in this video it was insane. But the "joker look" was his fake smile that people who suffer from depression feel like they put on for the world. He has suffered from depression and OCD and has used music and song writing to cope. He considers himself a Christian but not a "Christian Rapper". His videos are usually epic and many of his songs have stings such as violins.

as others have pointed out, NF has been doing this like this since Mansion. Personifying each emotion and metaphors to the mansion in his mind. Ren and Ronnie definitely borrowed from nf. Also his sole of using cinematic orchestra has been a thing too.. the biggest change in this song is that is full of hope... most of his music is dark and dealing with loss, anger and depression.. being abused by his step dad, his mom dying to overdose and trying to find his identity

This whole song is an inner dialog between hope (white) and fear (black). He mentions fear in a bunch of his past songs because he went through trauma as a kid and has dealt with mental health issues ever since. Hope to see you go on the NF journey. It's honestly good for the soul and the guy who produces most of his songs (Tommee Profitt) is a musical genius with his grandiose musical productions.

  • @AvaLynn808
    @AvaLynn808 ปีที่แล้ว +19

Oh girl... I love that you reacted to this, but if you are gonna react to NF please do the whole "journey"! I can totally see the parallels you drew between this and Ren's "Hi Ren", but NF has been singing/rapping metaphorically about his "burdens" (inner struggles personified) for many years. This song, along with many others he's done previously, are fan-fair that ties his life/albums/"journey" altogether, and signal change for him and his music (new album). He really is a great singer, though, his music touches so many people because it reaches those dark places so many others are afraid to dig into. We call it the "journey", and this song about "hope" is a change in direction from the darker stuff to what we (hope) is something positive and uplifting. Blessings Maggie

@@maggiereneemusic NF has been perfecting this orchestral rap styles for a few albums now. Also, kind of a hard song to get into NF with haha, it's a song that ties in many of his other songs. This ones for the long time fans I'd say.
In rough chronological order off my memory, if you wanted to listen in your own time, to understand what this song symbolizes you'll want to listen to these and a lot of them have relevant music videos:
      Mansion
      Therapy Session
      How Could You Leave Us
      Intro 2 and Intro 3
      Let You Down
      Outcast
      Why
      The Search
      Leave Me Alone
      Lost
Probably missing others even as a pre-Mansion fan tbh
Also if you're wondering, what was happening in the song and in the lyrics is NF and Hope were talking to each other, and his 'burdens' were picking at him. Basically this song was about him finally letting Hope do the work to fight the burdens instead of himself.
He personifies his emotions in his music a lot, and will speak both in metaphor, and from the viewpoint of an emotion

When it comes to Ren and Ronnie, they are both influenced by NF, he is one of the first to do this type of rap, dramatic, cinematic, with a message, with his life and his trauma. The video of Ren with Hi Ren was influenced by Complete - Jordan who did the same concept years ago, and did it way better than Ren. As everyone here informed you already, NF has multiple albums that connect with each other, so to understand this whole song, you would need references from his songs in the past. For example the female singer in here is the artist who features in a song in his first album, so he has a story that goes on for years now, you need to start from Mansion, and you'll be guided from his fanbase on what to do next. After a while you will reach Intro 3 which is probably the best example of a song with a concept of fighting your demons like Hi Ren or Hope by NF, that song is a masterpiece. NF is not just a rapper, he is an artist 💕

Let's welcome Maggie - the brand new NF fan
You missed like 20+ references to his catalogue (because u just discovered him, but you will appreciate this intro song and visuals on another level once you will take the NF journey)
Nate (NF) does only quality music and he never misses he tops himself every single time
Watch out for Nikki's comment, she will guide you through NF journey (before that react to Wait and Can you hold me since you appreciate his vocals - and those songs are not necessarily on the journey list)

@@maggiereneemusic 🎶 This is for anyone new who may want to take the NF journey as we call it because he intertwines his music like marvel movies. All of his albums are like a connected series.
He also hides eggs in his videos which he directs and co produces. For example in his “when i grow up” song there were two hidden eggs in that song: 1. A black balloon by the trash cans (black balloon represents his burdens per search single) 2 In the burger joint he grabbed at receipt that had the date and time of when his song time was being released. Additionally, he had outcast written on his name tag in the janitor scene whic references his Outcast song.
Another example is in the search song he had cage in background he rapped in from his outcast song.
The black smile you will see painted on his mouth is explained in his therapy session song.
      Here is the song order:
      MANSION ALBUM:
      1. All I have (VIDEO)
      2. Intro (VIDEO)
      3. Mansion- *will connect to Intro 3. Fear moved in. Also connects to paid my dues. Anger lives in basement*
      4. Wake Up (VIDEO)
      5. Paralyzed
      6. Wait (VIDEO)
      7. Notepad (VIDEO) *He explains why he does not cuss in his music🎶*
      THERAPY SESSION ALBUM:
      1. Intro 2 (VIDEO) *He calls out his song wake up and has names of all songs written on walls from this album. You will also see references to his intro song as well.*
      2. Therapy Session (VIDEO) Very important song. Explains his black smile he paints on his mouth.
      3. I just wanna know (VIDEO)
      4. How could you leave us-(VIDEO) Please have tissues nearby.
      5. Real song- (VIDEO) * He pays homage to Lil Wayne in this song by using his famous line feed me rappers or feed me beats but adding feed me both of them 🔥*
      6. Grindin’ ft. Marty (VIDEO)
      7. Oh Lord-* This song gets referred to in returns song two albums later.* Great song
      8. Statement *He pays homage to eminem and drake in this song*
Warm Up -(VIDEO) Single released between albums. (hype song)
Epiphany- collab with futuristic. (VIDEO) *He pays homage to meek mill.*
      PERCEPTION ALBUM:
      1. Outro (VIDEO) *pay attention to the video. It is like avengers endgame how he connects tons of previous videos materials in this.*
      2. Green Lights-(VIDEO) * Please pay attention to what he has written on the notepad at the end
      3. Intro 3 (one of his best songs) *This connects to mansion single. Remember fear reference.
      4. Outcast (VIDEO)- will connect to clouds video.
      5. Know- *He pays homage to eminem and 21 pilots* (hype)
      6. Destiny (hype)-mentions mansion single
      7. One hundred (hype)
      8. Let you down (VIDEO) please watch to the very very end! Plots twist.
      9. If you want love (VIDEO)
      10. Remember this- *💎 Gems all over this track!*
Single: No Name. (VIDEO) *This gets connected in leave me alone song an album later.*
Single: Why- (VIDEO) *NF pays big homage to Big Sean as he uses his flow from bounce back in this and mentions Big Seans name and his album I decided. (This isnt nates flow he says)
Also he has a ton of eggs like Dont mess with real music written on walls. Pay attention to all writing on the walls*
      SEARCH ALBUM
Whole album should be listened to but you can choose which you would like to do:
1 The search (VIDEO) *He pays homage to kanye west. (Cant tell me nothing by kanye and he puts his hands on his head liek kanye did in video) this also connects to outcast re the cage in background)*
      2. When I grow up (VIDEO) *He pays homage to Adele. (To me he also did to snoop in opening scene with kids saying what they wanted to be when they grow up)* Hidden eggs in this
      3. Leave me alone (VIDEO) * This connects to no name single.*
      4. Change- this song is mentioned in his search single.
      5. My stress
      6. Nate
      7. Time (VIDEO)
      8. Returns- (hype song) one of his best for flow switches and word play- connects to oh lord single

      10. Let me go
      11. Interlude then I hate myself song
      12. I miss the days
      13. No excuses (hype song)
      14. Like this
      15. Options (hype song) connects to clouds video with the ref scene
      16. Thinking
      17. Trauma singing only song. Amazing
      Paid My Dues (VIDEO)
It was to the awful article rolling stones put out because the writer was a big chance the rapper fan and was pissed NF took number one spot. Over 400 people bashed that writer in the comments lol
Chasing -demo he did with a fan.
      CLOUDS THE MIXTAPE-
      1. Clouds (VIDEO) * This connects to outcast single turn the music up and options singles*
      2. Lost ft Hopsin (VIDEO)
      3. Story (VIDEO)
      4. That’s a Joke (pays homage to J Cole from no role modelz)
      5. Just like you
      6. Prideful
      7. Layers
      8. Drifting
      9. Trust ft Tech N9ne
Also there is many good songs not on this list like Dreams and you’re special etc.
At some point take the time and go back through and listen to them all at some point. 🖤

The back and forth at the end is him arguing with Fear, or his dark side in general. However you'd like to see it. It's telling him all these discouraging things to drag him down, trying to push through and silence him, much like it did when it shoved him down into the Mansion earlier in the video. But he is finally "taking the reins" and winning the battle after 30 years of fighting and losing ground. He's been doing the back and forth with himself and personifying his emotions since the Mansion album. There are unbelievable amounts of references and tie-ins in this song and video, but even without knowing them all, it's still an awesome experience.

At the end that essentially his “demons” trying to take over again and fill his head with negative thoughts and emotions. He’s spent his entire life battling those demons. The map you see him holding throughout is his map to hope he’s referenced in a previous track called The Search. He’s finally found the map but his demons (him dressed in black) keeps pointing him in the wrong direction leading him back to the shore id loneliness, despair, etc. That “demon then pushes him back into the Mansion of his dark thoughts and traumas (check out the song Mansions).
    His story telling is phenomenal
