- Hi, we live close to the Tatra factory, so we decided to shoot the short video about two displayed trucks in front of the factory from the prospective of our build, it means it is focused mostly on the chassis components, and their difference with our chassis in the shop. Hope you enjoy! This channel is about building an extreme off road 4-motor monster truck with the performance of the sport's car, for people with low budgets. I am taking two Tatras (the best off road heavy truck in the World) , and four electric vehicles (Nissan Leaf), all with salvage titles, disassembling them, and building from them an affordable monster truck, while selling all the parts I don't need. Tatra still makes it's own air cooled engines, but they wouldn't fit here under Daf cabs, but Caterpillar, Paccar, and Deuz motors can be used at least......Differentials as well as all chasis components are made by Tatra.
Very cool! Peter did you say tetra still makes air-cooled engines? You can get much more power with water cooled engines. But I am sure you know that, but seems they would have changed.

Hi Marty, yes, and they are also developing the new Euro 6 air cooled engine, so they can sell them in Europe....I don't get it, it is all getting so complicated and expensive... They should keep using Cat, Paccar and othes while transitioning to electric.....They can put electric motors directly into the tube with orbital speed reducers, cheap and simple solution...... Inflexible minds are the biggest obstacle for progress....
Off Road Electric
Seems like wasted R and D when they could use Cummins. In the USA Cat stopped selling engines for Semi trucks because they didn’t want to spend R and D for air standards for new trucks. So they just install in off road equipment.
Hi Peter, at 3m08sec of this video you are talking about the Tatra Phoenix airbags where you mentioned that these have a coildspring inside. Do you perhaps have a link to a picture of how these look inside? Maybe a cutout view?
Hi, I was wrong, Phoenix doesn't have them in the front, but it has the springs inside the airbags at the back, at least in some models. Sorry, I don't have the pics. Peter

Unfortunately Tatra doesn't make any electic vehicles,.....
