Wayyy better! I actually like it a bit more than sc6 honestly. The sounds of the weapons clashing sounds better. And apprentice was a very well made character 👏
Besides, frame data was discovered through trial and error, meaning people tested each and every move to see which ones are faster, which moves have slow recovery time and exactly how much, etc. If trial and error made these discoveries, trial and error will also give you that "intuition" or "feel" for the game that is based solely on experience. Frame date may be interesting, but not needed for high level play. I've played guys who knew all the frame data, and still they lost badly.
Their fighting styles are super lame. Apprentice spams BB and the opponent never adapts... GI the second hit and you'll start punishing that like crazy EDIT: I take that back, the Astaroth is great. His Sophitia... not so much
And one other thing, you don't need to study frame data to realize that some moves have a slow recovery time (negative frames on block). If you play enough, you eventually memorize which moves you can sneak in for punish, and which moves that your opponent can punish as well. For me, I have a "feel" for the game that is not based on frames or "math" or any kind. putting it this way, no amount of studying will replace real game-time practice.
@SFtheWolf Um I'm seeing plenty more than three moves. The thing is - when you have a matchup against apprentice - you can't use anything really unsafe because he's one of the best turtles in the game. Along with that, sophitia is known for her punishing ability, not her pressure. Against App, who doesn't need to be aggressive, she's going to have to play real basic and safe. He also breaks all throws, so astaroth can't utilize his command grabs as much. So both Suirads Characters were risky.
@Zanter06 Being a tourney player who came from online - Your online matches aren't better than this, honestly. They're more aggressive because they can get away with it. Online, I can sit around and use whatever moves I want, because unsafe ones generally go unpunished. I can do almost zero turtling because reaction in lag is terribly difficult, etc. You might think your matches are better play, but with lag introduced, you can get away with much more aggression online.
@SirAltairTheGr8 I was backing up my statements with credentials in response to you implying I didn't know anything about fighting games. It was not intended to be bravado. My comment about you acting like an internet tough guy is referring to your discourse as a whole. Also what was wrong with my channel? Tell me so I can improve it.
@DestinStrider EXACTLY Thank you. There is someone else out there who knows this. I was just on another video about SC4 and lag abuse having a discussion with this dude who is actin as if lag aint a big issue and how it doesnt make much of a difference "if you are good enough" when its actually A LOT different from playin offline. The aggressor has much more of an advantage when you are defending. When you play online you are forced to predict attacks b4 they are done instead of reacting to them
I loved SC1, but I'm disappointed if this is what high level SC4 play looks like. They're playing hell of predictable and getting away with it. You'd think these characters each had only 3 moves plus a throw from watching this.
@vDEATHxSTROKEv IMO, the REAL way to play is to balance safe moves with high risk, high damage moves and or combo/juggle starters. Your right, good players will punish you for unsafe moves, but only doing safe moves GREATLY restricts your move list and you become predictable. There's nothing wrong with a player occasionally using a risky move, I see it in high level play all the time. Everything in moderation is the key, Spamming AA or BB all day long is not only annoying, but easily beaten.
How is it? I'm not the only one that thinks this but it is an opinion. No need to be a prick about it. And Scrub? That is the best you can isult me with?
ikr? idk how sophitia lost like THAT.. shes really good at mixups.. i have a custom fighter based on her blue rod and shes beast.. =/ and the apprentice didn't even really go apeshit on her either..
Im surprised that this is how the high levels play, considering that many people that I have fought online are incredibly good. I expected at least that level of play here at the grand finals in a tourney. The games been out for three years...c'mon.
Damn seeing this I should have competed in SC4...They´re not even that good. I´ve met much better players online than these two. Maybe there wasn´t much money in it so it wasn´t worth traveling.
@vDEATHxSTROKEv Your response is asinine and needlessly antagonistic. I was asking simple questions about what the game appeared like to me as a non-high level SC player. If I'm wrong, tell me why and convince me rather than just being insulting. Not to mention I'm a top 300 MvC3 player, top 150 MK9 player, and I was the top ranked Dan player in Canada when I stopped playing AE. I know how fighting games work.
Truly good times in gaming.
indeed
Where have the times gone
i’m telling you
Nice to see Starkiller getting rep'd.
Starkiller beat Darth Vader. So it's no surprise he kicks some serious ass!
Didn't expect to find you here, nice surprise
I still find this game better than SC5.
Soul Calibur 5 kinda simplified it and added Supers. I liked 4 it was a bit more slower paced and complex.
Too slow imo, the movement anyway
sc5 was hella nerfed like it was sc1
@@tiwitiwi6202 4 was the best one

Nostalgia...

Thank you for all the support
@nano69ify remember all the melee tournys back in the day. Melee was even at EVO, wheres Brawl....?
Did Apprentice have automatic grab breaks?
No

@DestinStrider Fair enough. Good to know, thanks.
@jelaninoel What do you mean?
NOBODY CAN BEAT ME, NONE OF YOU NEUBS!
l'll believe it when I see it
Watching these brings back some memories lol

Please please please bring out soul calibur 6 for PS4 it’s an absolute must .........❤️❤️
Man i wish there was a Super Smash Bros Brawl tourney in this day in age.

If Sophitia would have played a little smarter and blocked the two combos the apprentice used over and over she would have won.
im a SF fanboy, but this game just looks so cool and fun. keep it up spooky.
apprentice is not top tier in sc4. he's top of the mid tier, along with astaroth, cervantes, etc.
I have seen waaaaaay better sophitia's on xbox....
Craaazzyy work damnn 😂😂😂 bro was NOT satisfied 😭
@nano69ify Brawl is the reason there is no smash in tournys anymore -_-
apprentice is the strongest character in all of soul calibur. stronger than the playable bosses by design. 8:48.

that nigga's astaroth is awesome though... nerve-wreckng, even...
All RTD does is that launcher and spam attacks for preventing KD. Lame.
It's called poking. you're supposed to be cautious in a tourney
still some realy cheap gameplay, even i the pressure is high, that's not very entertaining
@SirAltairTheGr8 Ok internet tough guy.
10:13 Pro gamer move
Never thought I would see a new comment 2 hours old going back to watch old SC4 videos.
@@JacksonWalter735 Came to watch RTD's sublime usage of 5B and 5BB a few hundred times.
GENDER NEUTRAL
Bruh he literally said Sophitia like "So fi tea uh"
I thought everyone knew it was like "So fee she uh"

this is jaguarnoir and im stll the best apprentice player in the world
MEDIC !!!!!
gg no re
Apprentice is WAY too cheap for tournament usage. He just spams the same shit over and over.
It's called poking. and no one goes for huge combos anyways
Im surprised that this is how the high levels play, considering that many people that I have fought online are incredibly good. I expected at least that level of play here at the grand finals in a tourney. The games been out for three years...c'mon.
I didn't see a perfect combo
all that dead air at the beginning few minutes tho....
Damn seeing this I should have competed in SC4...They´re not even that good. I´ve met much better players online than these two. Maybe there wasn´t much money in it so it wasn´t worth traveling.
so many mistakes! :(
okay im terrible at fighting games, but im pretty sure i could stand a chance against these guys...
No you couldn't. looks are deceiving
Bringer of dis pear see you at a tournament soon then?
To play this one last time…
This...is...booooooriiiiiiing.
Then why are you watching?
One of the worst set of sets if seen for this game ever.

Yo these casters are brutal. Hopefully they got better or retired. So much dead air. Anybody can just watch a tournament. Entertain us.
i feel like i could have easily destroyed both of them myself :/
Another one of you? Really

Stupid star wars in SC
