Fun fact: they’re pretty common here in Maryland, and those second black blobs on their knees and hocks are a breed standard, along with the black face, feet, and ears, and the curled horns. They’re also incredibly friendly

They are just beautiful 💕 I remember the 1st time I saw these sheep about 5 years ago I squealed, lol. My husband was like what was rhat about. He thought I had choked. I showed him the pic and a pic of them & highland cows. He said, " No wonder you were giddy, they are pretty darn cute." 💕🤣☺️😢

For most of the shear I was constantly thinking are you sure there's a sheep under there? And only a 6 month shear? Wow! Atsa lotta wool!
Started me thinking about some new socks for the chilly winter weather.
Thank you for your continuing videos, it was like you took a wrong turn in Texas and wound up in Scotland.

She has to behave, this is the way one holds the sheep for shearing so they cannot move, it has no choice but behaving ! And no it doesn’t hurt , have you not seen dogs being clipped, or horses, or human heads !!!

Unaccustomed tool, new place and a new breed of sheep to shear, but Katie handles it like the boss she always does.
Such a beautiful animal, both pre and post shearing, especially the intricate horn texture.
I hope you had Darian with you on the trip overseas, that you were able to experience more than "just barns" when you're there and that you had a pleasant visit to Scotland!

Hello, thank you for your kind words!
I know of your home state, but I have to admit I had to search for it to confirm my information on it.
When I still was in elementary school, a long time ago, whenever our PE teacher subbed for a sick teacher, he had us writing essays about Elvis Presley and his works or listening to his music, depending on the subject he was subbing for.
Can't say I remember much about those essays, but PE and Elvis is weirdly intertwined for me still.

Now that I know how sheep are shorn, I'm like "who could have ever thought otherwise"! A sheep HAS to be calm and comfortable enough because otherwise you'd have to fight for taking their wool off, and nobody, nobody wants that fight. It's EASIER to make it ok with the animal, because it makes the process just, well, possible at all!
And it's a pleasure to watch you shear a sheep. Your kind words make it even better. It almost feels like this content is good for health: seeing a calm content sheep being taken care of feels calming.

Valais don't have the finest of fleece; the fiber is what's often called 'carpet-grade' (medium-coarse), but they make a LOT of it. And their digestion is much more efficient than most breeds, so they can make all that muscle and fleece on less food than most other sheep. If they had finer wool in addition to quantity, docile temperament and meat, they'd be the perfect sheep for basically everything.

Really pleased to see you're in UK. I've watched alot of shearing videos and you're definitely my favourite. I don't really know why but you're fascinating to watch and listen to, so thanks.

Beautifully shorn. What a lovely calm and caring attitude.
By the way, the breed of sheep referred to as a BFL is a Blue-faced Leicester.
Leicester, pronounced “Lester”, is a city in England’s East Midlands region.

    Yay 🎉 you're in UK X welcome ❤
Great shear on a new breed to you. Big head, horns, hiding ears and long tail, quite a challenge also with the new shears!
They are such a cute breed, but you put her at her ease and did fantastically ❤ going round that big fat belly was a dream ❤ 😅

Wow! This is so so satisfying and I am not getting the service. I bet those sheep are loving the treatment they get from you. I truly loved it! And I learned something new. I never seen this till today. So much fun. Was tellling my son how well you do your trade- and he tells me he has watched you. I am just amazed. Thank you.

Fascinating as I have a Valais/Scottish Black Face fleece that was gifted to me for processing. It's so satisfying watching you shear them, and I can't imagine how uncomfortable I'd be with all that wool on me. I'm wondering how frequently you get a sheep that kind of enjoys the shear and says "thanks, I feel so much better now"?

I was excited for you traveling to Scotland for this amazing shearing opportunity. I was surprised that the wool is course because it looks so unbelievably soft. Hope you enjoyed your stay.

The sheep absolutely know they are going yo feel great very soon. They're so well-behaved and patient. I bet it's euphoric for them.
