Hey, I'm a fellow Texan who enjoyed a vacation in Scotland a year ago. I saw hundreds of sheep--had to pause driving for them now and then--so it was lovely to see you shear one of those cuties. Have a great trip!
I just love watching you with the animals. You are so sweet and gentle with them, like turning off the clippers to find her ear so you didn't clip her. I never thought I would get hooked on shearing but it is very calming and comforting to me. Thank you for being you!😍
Valais don't have the finest of fleece; the fiber is what's often called 'carpet-grade' (medium-coarse), but they make a LOT of it. And their digestion is much more efficient than most breeds, so they can make all that muscle and fleece on less food than most other sheep. If they had finer wool in addition to quantity, docile temperament and meat, they'd be the perfect sheep for basically everything.
I love the gentle way you handle these sheep and the gentleness in the way you talk to them when they get a bit nervous. Thank you for these videos. Blessings of all sorts to you.
