    Sometimes you are the bug, and sometimes you're the windshield!Anyone who crys about a salesman (car or otherwise) "ripping them off" is just an incompetent buyer that did NOT EDUCATE themselves before they spent money. If you do the basic research on the product and price, and you're not a complete moron, it's physically IMPOSSIBLE to be taken for a ride! Period! Being unwilling, incapable of, or too damn LAZY to do an hours-worth of research before you spend your money doesn't mean somebody lied to you. It means they're higher on the food chain and are strong enough to prey on the lazy and weak. That's business... in fact, THAT'S LIFE! Thats why some people are winners and some are the ones who cry "foul" and blame the world for their so-called "luck.READ SOMETHING! Do some research! You cannot be taken advantage of when you are prepared....

      +Jason Roney thx for the comment! I know what you are saying! The way business is done today I think the only way a car buyer can get ripped off is by buying the wrong the car for sure.

    I've been in the car business now for almost a year and a half... My first go-around was at a small town family owned dealership that never averaged any more than 40 sales per month all together. Thus leaving me only accountable for 4-6 of those. Never really had any real training, I was just shown the ropes and was thrown out to the wolves, along with a "good luck kid"... Now working at a relatively decent Toyota dealership in a more densely populated area, but somehow still only average 8-10 cars per month... It's been that way since I started 6 months ago, I can feel my managers losing their hope with me, and the fear of being canned for poor sales keeps hammering me... I feel that i can be great, I have a naturally likable personality, my only problem is getting more customers in front of me... Phone calls become demoralizing, sitting outside for hours on end waiting for a customer to pull onto the lot can be equally as terrible... However those are the only suggestions my management and coworkers have for me... Not selling enough cars? More phone calls! Tired of making phone calls? Go catch an up!... I've tried other things, i have posted ads on facebook, and other social media accounts, i have listed some of our inventory on sale sites like craigslist, yet ironically the only calls i get are marketing companies asking if they can help me sell the car i have listed.
    My question to you is: What in the hell am I doing wrong?

    Mike, You just nailed it that most sales rep here in India as well don't even know the product they are selling. Car are getting more and more hi tech with ADAS, Android, Cockpits, Connectivity etc. Sales reps need to be tech savvy themselves to sell the product. I just picked up passat, infact I sold the passat to myself by reading about it on internet, sales rep just did the negotiation. I am sure that sales guy will never be able to sell Paassat to the buyer who is looking out for option in the market with 60k+ USD budget.

      Hey Tina, thanks for listening to the show! I'd recommend getting in with your local chamber of commerce and also networking through local business groups. The more relationships you can build in your community with influential people, the better (e.g., insurance brokers, business owners, construction foremen, union leaders, etc.) Also, having your own website is going to be a powerful thing, especially because it will provide your customer base a place to come and get to know you independent of the dealership you work at.

      I just got hired with no car sales experience, Just be honest sell yourself but make certain you have examples to back up your claims. Remember you have to live up to the hype you set so just prove you can sell yourself honestly if the manager is worth anything he will see that. I was told they hired three people the day before I applied so there was nothing available, I told the sale manager that while i understood that I wanted to be a part of this company and to learn a new field. I spoke to him or visited the dealership once a week for two months before I got job offered i was informed i was offered " over two applicants with car sales experience because I proved I was professional and proved I was driven and dedicated."

      Always know your product. Know how the specs in the vehicle and how it works. I sold for many years and did well. Confidence sells and know your target. Ask questions and make your script your own. Good luck

    • @JennsCorner777
      @JennsCorner777 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As a car guys wife I can tell you the industry can be intimidating but you need confidence, a thick skin, don't be afraid to ask for the sale and smile, be genuine, KNOW YOUR PRODUCT, have a GREAT walk around, know the lingo, get someone who you admire and will give you the time to properly train you and mentor you, be prepared to not spend a lot of time with family make sure you have a good sitter or someone in place to take care of the kids while you work, customer CSI is everything because if the client loves you they will come back to YOU no matter what dealer you work with. Make sure your closer and general manager work with you to close if they suck you better be prepared to learn to close your own deals. Learn to market YOURSELF you are a business not a salesperson if you treat it that way you will have appointments coming in and won't need to rely on the bdc or fresh us or spoons, if you don't know Spanish learn it so you don't have to turn any deals. Good luck !

    These days if you sell 30 cars a month you'll make around 3,000. Every deal is a mini deal now thanks to the internet.

    • @alexthekiaguy

      If you sell 30 cars and only make 3k you're at the wrong dealership. Even if every car was a mini for your example that 100 bucks.
      They should have a volume bonus and at 30 cars it should be around 3-4k. So lets say on the low end 6000 total.
      Now as for you having all mini deals thats your fault. You need to hit people at full pop even if they come off the internet (you never know) flip them to a used car and name your price if you did your job and built report they'll bite.
      Spend 90% of your time selling yourself and 10% of your time selling the car and closing. You'll make a good amount of money even if you only sell 10

    Selly Automotive crm is probably the worst choice for a car dealer due to it's lack of Lead Automation capabilities. ADF/XML feed that this CRM is relying on requires a 3rd party integration. In this day and age when 90% of car dealers using Facebook advertising in their customer acquisition strategy, no way this CRM is useful, because every Lead has to be entered manually and processed by the sales team manually, without ANY automation whatsoever. Selly CRM is good for Sales Teams used to manual labour and lots of hard work, trying to locate when and where the lead has come from.Technical support is pretty much absent and non-responsive. Toll free number is not working.For the amount of money this CRM is asking to pay small car dealers, a lot more can be done to simplify Lead Generation process.
