California Electrical Supply June 22 2024. Renewables can't beat this summer heat.

Earlier this year California's renewable energy production was doing a great job of supplying most (or a very large chunk) of California's electrical needs. However, with the summer in full effect, air conditioners are turning on and the need to burn natural gas for electrical supply in the afternoons is starting to show how much more renewables are needed to go online.
In this video I give a rough estimate that we'll need 10x the renewable energy generation if we want carbon free summers AND 100% EVs (including semi trucks and commercial vehicles).
It's my belief the only way to get off fossil fuels is to use a combo of technologies: wind, solar, geothermal and nuclear. We have to hedge our bets and push forward with all technologies.

Program your AC to overcool your house mid day and not run after 5pm

Our house gets HOTTER at the end of the day. So 3pm until late in the evening it just doesn't cool down. But that might be worth a shot.
