    This is the destination for many motorcyclists on weekends with nice weather conditions and finding a place to park can be difficult to impossible. It is much nicer if you can get there during the week or when the weather is not so nice.

      Back in the mid 1970s you could go down there on a Saturday and there might be 2 or 3 cars at the store.

    Great video - this is one of my favorite places on the planet right here in Boone County, KY. Was great to see video of Donnie Clare the "patron saint" of Rabbit Hash who sadly left us a few years ago but who's memory lives on. Also the store was decimated by an awful fire in 2016 but it has been restored to its former glory and folks who had never seen it before the fire would never know the difference. If you're in NKY and want to see a place where time has slowed down, where you can grab a snack and a drink and watch the river laze by and do all the "nothing" you want, then you will love Rabbit Hash. Also the Iron Works building has been repaired and the retaining wall built - its now home to a wine shop (its pretty cool and the wine is good too) Come on down to the "Center of the Universe" and sit a spell. :-)

    The place was rebuilt after the fire " exactly "
    how it was useing the same period wood,
    reclaimed lumber.
    I ride my bike there!

    I visited Rabbit Hash for no reason other than the name. Nice place. That 1937 flood crest is epic. I was there during an Ohio River flood in the 1990's, but it was nothing like those earlier floods. Still have my tee shirt from the Iron Works.

    The old General Store is gone. She caught on fire 2.12.2016 and a total loss. Maybe from the old stove to heat her. It's sad been there forever.

      Yes they started rebuilding while back. Haven't been back to see how it looks. Believe they didn't carry insurance on it. Don't understand that. It is one of a kind.

      We were just there (March 2019) and it's complete. They had to tear down two buildings (using original materials) to rebuild the store.

    • @Shawnakin68
      @Shawnakin68 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It has been rebuilt with all period appropriate materials and techniques. It was not the stove that caused the fire (the old cast iron stove was sitting right on the floor doing its job when the fire broke out) it was a refrigerator that held pop that was recently serviced that sparked the fire.

      They called me and asked if I could do a documentary on the rebuild, which I said yes to. Unfortunately, they wanted me to do it for free, which I can't.
