I really like how you tell us to have a growth mindset. Ako kasi ate, I think I am v. bad with critical thinking as well as chemistry (gusto ko pa naman mag pharma), pero dahil sabi mo na kailangan ko magkaroon ng growth mindset, you're actually helping me a lot. Iniisip ko palagi na bobo ako sa critical thinking ngayon, hanggang mamatay nako ganyan. I'm not even kidding but this is the first time na parang naganahan ako sa idea ng mga flaws ko hahahaha... I truly love med pero yung set of skills ko is "para" sa law kasi -- that's what my batchmates told me. And because of that, nagda-doubt narin ako if kaya ko ba talaga ang mag premed and med kung yung skills ko ay "hindi" naman para sa med. But really, dahil sa sabi mo ate, I got inspired to continue this dream kahit pa iba ang sabi ng mga batchmates ko. Thank you so much ate. I used to doubt myself but I learned from you na kailangan ko lang magkaroon ng growth mindset, and eventually, makakaya ko ring i-overcome yung struggles ko. ♡♡♡ God bless po sa inyo! how do you do PBL in psychiatric cases like schizophrenia? i'm wondering kasi yung mga symptoms nila have no close correlation with anatomy or physio, maybe biochem pa. i'm wondering how effective PBL would be in this area.
Really great question! Psychiatry is tackled during 2nd year (PBL 2) wherein more clinical years begin so unlike the flow of discussion mentioned in the video for PBL 1 na you connect basic sciences depending on the system, it's now based in diseases (still given in cases) in a certain system. Starting from patient history, assessment, lab work-ups, findings, diagnoses until management. Your basic sciences from pbl 1 may now still be inserted during discussion sa patho or pharma when relevant. Mas maffeel mo na doctor ka during pbl sgd during 2nd yr and 3rd yr ☺️

I can’t say so for sure since Medicine itself is difficult no matter the teaching medium but I could say PBL is useful for when you go to clinics and you’re already familiar with the usual flow as to managing the patient from initial examination down to management and interpreting findings 😊 As for the studying part, I think your current effective study habits/flow matters more: do you prefer learning things at your own pace or do you prefer having lectures about it in depth first before hitting the books?
