Those are USA "recepticals"! Very common on Japanese generators that were aimed at the US market, and then rejigged for the UK/European market. Tanaka made some really good kit, and easily comparable to Honda. Age wise, I'd take a tilt at 1970s.
I think the fonts and appearance put it at late 1960s? Think of 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968). It's very cute! Since the remaining old 2 stroke oil in the glass bowl looked clean, I'd have been tempted to just give it a go without cleaning the carb and hope the new fuel mix washes out any old oil. Maybe get it started with some down the plughole! It's very clean for it's age, maybe somebody took it camping, used it once then put it away and it was never used again?
Ive got a Tanaka pole hedge trimmer and my one handed chain saw is Tanaka, good quality and very reliable. I believe they stopped production a couple of years ago.
Its a lovely little generator, that would come in handy for any outages or need for site power. Probably was bought new for a camper(back then camping trips to the sun - Spain, Italy, S. France was popular), then was dry stored in its box. I think its from the late 60's to early 70's, judging from the Amp/volt meter, the bake-lite looking plastic and the electric connectors. In the mid 70's, plastic technology made some leaps and the Japanese changed over to using spade type electric connectors.
I have a handy can of "Solvisol" brand contact cleaner, one of it's uses is cleaning points - I have actually seen it bring a spark back from old points with nothing more than a spray! Probably best to clean them first, but if it works then it saves you time doing that before you sort out fueling etc. I first used it back in the 80s/90s for cleaning volume/tone control pots on old amps when they'd got old and crackly. Almost anything with contacts in is worth a spray if they are playing up, quite often it works just fine.
Shes not as old as you think. Their first light genny (qeg 300) came out in 71. Somebody has an original box and warranty card example of this model dated 82. Japanese made with a us plug makes it pre-93... so call her sometime 80 to 92 fairly safely
The polarised plugs (one blade wider than the other) came into use in the early 1960's so that unit could be 60's or 70's. By the way the wider pin/blade is the neutral. Those screws are not posidrive or Philips but JIS Japanese industrial standard, so it is easy to strip the heads without having a jis screwdriver.

You know they do make an Impact driver that you hit with a hammer to loosen very tight screws etc!

While you have the flywheel off, check that the kill wire isn't grounded.
De Oxit is used in Electronics I dont know if it h as a lubricant but it helps establish a better connection for contacts and IC sockets etc.
