      Thank you for your comment. To split tasks is also important when you do advanced tracking on a project. Greetings from Geneva.

    Hi Christian, I was asked about something related to the topic of your video. Manipulations like those in your video are simple to do... I tried a few times to find a solution (not succeed :-) ) for making some relations to other tasks. I.e. Tasks A and B take three weeks each to complete... Task A is ongoing for the first week and must be stopped for a week; when task B starts and continues for a week, Task A goes for two weeks until done, and then task B can continue until it is finished... I could not describe it in the Predecessors, and my only Idea was to do it manually, like in your video, to break those tasks into two separate ones. Any idea how to do it without breaking them? Cheers.

      Thank you for your question. Sometimes the easiest is to define more tasks like task A part1, task A part2, task B part1, task B part 2. Then you can apply relations, and it is also easier to understand. Have a great day.

    Hi Thank you for your videos. These are easy to follow and super helpful. I have one question though. Is it possible to apply a filter in dashboard graph. Like I have 10 items in task 2 but I want to show 5 in one and 5 in another or maybe 5 at a time. Can we do it? Many thanks in advance.

    • @vision6D
      @vision6D  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, absolutely. Content of graphs can be edited and filtered. For the moment I do not have a video showing the steps, but it could come. Have a great day.

    Is there a way to have an auto split task due to a priority task happening in the middle that a resource needs to be a part of?

    • @vision6D

      Thank you for your question. Not as I know of today. But I haven't done extended research. If you find an other answer let me know. Greetings from Geneva.

    Dear Christian when we move complete parts of task to status date, start date shift before the project start date. How can we solve the problem?

    • @vision6D
      @vision6D  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello,
      Thank you for your question. When you say you move complete part of a task to status date, do you mean you split the task?

    • @kushanchathura4052
      @kushanchathura4052 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vision6D Yes by doing this the task will split. When we have upgraded the percentage of the progress and move all task's incomplete part forward to status date and then moving the completed part of the tasks backward to status date again and again to obtain the monthly progress this scenario happens. I have to do a delay analysis of the project by doing this.

    • @vision6D

      @@kushanchathura4052 This sounds to me familiar, my impression is that there is may be another way to do it. Although it is difficult for me to see exactly what is happening in your file. I have noticed with several customers that the way to do the follow up on tasks is by setting %complete. I work in a complete different way and let Ms Project calculate the %complete. May be a remote session could be of interest on this topic?

    Hi,
    can I split Task-1 into 2 parts, then link the 1st part of Task-1 (F/S) with another activity Task-2, then return back and link Task-2 (F/S) with the 2nd part of Task-1. Please help.

    • @vision6D
      @vision6D  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching the video and for your question. If I understand right , you had one task, you split it and you want to have two different successor, one on each part of the split task. For me it means that your first task is not split but has become two different tasks, and I would change it in this way. The split of a task means that part 2 follows part 1.

    Can you split a task to create two separate tasks? I've been trying to do that and it looks impossible. I'm using MS Project Standard 2016
