This is a chain reaction started by those already settled in Canada, by showing flashy & comfy lifestyle, and hence the punjabi youth develops a fear of missing out (FOMO).
Same is the case with kerelas gulf migration.
    It's all a mindset game.
Besides I think in our country respect is considered the highest. Means any youth will do any job in foreign countries but will not do it here. Here he wants a job of respect only.
In foreign countries their is no one to watch who is doing what. Here 100 people are watching & judging & gossiping in groups. This actually brings down the morale of a kid or youth.

The current situation of employment in Punjab is unfortunate but is no different from what's happening in the rest of India. Goverment jobs are minimal, MSME jobs are limited to blue collar skilled/unskilled category, fixed costs to start big businesses are way too high, and not everyone has the access to capital/skills to start small businesses.
I graduated from NIT and was fortunate that I had multiple options to start my career. Infact I had cleared the state electricity department exam as well but never bothered to join because of the 'Basic Pay for 3 years' rule.
Its not that Youth of Punjab or India has failed us, but the Politicians across aisle are responsible for creating an environment where young minds are not able to see a future for their families and chose the hardship of building a dignified life away from the land of their ancestors.

But it is no more about jobs now. There are many good jobs here. But many don't even think of finding jobs here. It has become a culture to move abroad. Students start to think about moving abroad from childhood itself as they get facinated or influenced by their friends and relatives who are majoritarily staying abroad. So they think it is better to stay abroad near to friends and relatives rather than staying alone in India.

See this 1 in 33 people is pegged to the overall population. The way villages are emptying and with mostly the young age group who may go for higher studies, this ratio will come down. Mass exodus of youth and the middle class is not a good sign considering they're the net consumers (paying indirect taxes) and earning taxable incomes (non-farming). Punjab may lose massive revenue earning if its core consumers move away, instead of retaining, they're promising to facilitate!

The highest immigration in India is being witnessed in Punjab followed by Gujerat and then Kerala. All three states are in much better shape than Jharkhand, UP, Bihar etc., unfortunately our country is third world in every sense; hence education and more importantly the Internet shows the conditions of people around the world. When confronted by that stark reality, Punjabis who have an advantage of already having relatives abroad especially in Canada, USA, UK, Australia and New Zealand tend to be the most successful at immigating. This is the reality of our situation in the country, sad fact is that we have HDI levels at par with Sub Saharan Africa for a majority of the country, and due to extreme hypocrisy we pretend that we are a great world power, this unfortunately is the reality of our nation.
Aslo, despite having one of the youngest populations in the world we are obsessed with old men to run our country and the youngsters who enter politics are usually College dropouts.

In my opinion it's a personal choice and everyone is free to do so. India is a big country with 1.4 billion population, majority of which is young. Jobs are not what they used to be 20-30 years back. And India is not a manufacturing powerhouse like China to employ that many people which even today China struggles with. Truth being told automation and manufacturing being taken over by robots will make job requirements higher which most of us don't have the technical know how to do.
End mein jisko janai jaye, many of my friends left for Canada, UK while I decided to stay back.
      It's a choice I made no regrets.
And my friends are happy too thou they miss food and family sometimes.

Canada has stated it’s going to take in 1.2 million (12lakhs) immigrants in the next three years. Also Indians have emerged as the highest number of legal immigrants yearly to Canada. One can gauze this from the ubiquity of Indian brands in Canadian stores these days. I think the immigration firms in Punjab sell this “demand “ for Indian immigrants for the Canadian economy.

That might be what they think their life's going to be when they arrive in the US/Canada, but reality soon hits quite hard. Most of these boys can't string along a viable sentence in English (which in itself is not a shortcoming, but it is a problem when the lingua franca of the host nation is English), they take years, if at all, to shed their retrograde concepts of "izzat", which leads to them labeling every woman in a summer dress as "kudi vadi kaint si". They come in at an age when they're still quite hormonal, and, with absolutely no communication skills combined with their chronic character judgement of women, they end up visiting prostitutes. To deal with boredom, they take to the bottle and given as they're expected to pay off their "donki" agent every month, both the hookers and the booze they indulge in, tends to be the cheapest available option. The end result is they end up doing the exact same jobs, they think are beneath them, back home. For all their success, they tend to do in the US what they expect "bhaiyyas" to do in Punjab. Life abroad is best described by a tiktok/instagram video that went viral in 2015-16, which had a bunch of punjabi guys singing to the effect that "aqal thikane lag jati hey, Amrika aakey".

Its not at all about lack of jobs and opportunities or quality of education. If this is their concern then they can move to tier 1 cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, etc. But they only have one option that is Canada. The main reason they are lured towards canada is the foriegn lifestyle. Everyone is on insta facebook now a days and these people are easily attracted by such content. They dont even seem to have proper foundation in english language which is must for people going abroad to study. What will happen afterwards is that they will get accepted in extremely low ranked colleges which are just money making universities and after they graduate they will find basic job roles which does not pay good and then they are forced to come back to India. The same is the case with UK. I always suggest people if you want to study abroad choose proper country and good universities and go only for stem courses. We can find a big difference between Indian students in US and in Canada. You will find a large chunk of educated students plus those who can speak good english unlike them. The reason is simple because the US education system requires a lot more than just IELTS. Therefore, these people find it extremely difficult to go to US and then choose Canada and UK which are very easy options available. Also, a big NO for commerce studies in abroad, it will land you nowhere. I hope this helps.

For example, anybody went there for education, they get same job profile in which they studied ? Of course not.
Reporting should be done like what reason are being used to to go to Canada and what exactly same people are doing in Canada.
There should be a proper plan what study they are intended to do there. Do the training and certification in same skill and try in Canada. So that people can get a good job in Canada instead of doing a petty job.

This is because our Government is TRYING to make India prosperous through exports. So, it values dollar more than rupee. This is disincentivizing solving our own problems by making indigenous solutions low value.
Also, phd holders and masters, even in engineering, are neither absorbed easily in indian industries nor are they paid respectably. Engineering(Non-IT) consultation and services are imported from Germany, US, Australia and even China.

      1. The papers or thesis have a page limit, so we have to compact it.
      2. To sound professional, because you are claiming authority on the subject. Example from shark tank: if you are into business you have to speak in terms of Gross profit, net profit, capital etc. You don't have the luxury to not use those terms in front of your investors if you want to be taken seriously.

I have lived in both Canada n uk and I would say that in my opinion gujrati and tamils are way more desperate to leave india for abroad then punjabis. As a matter of fact every indian is desperate to leave india for the west the only once who say otherwise are the once who are too poor to make the move. In my opinion the biggest reason is that everyone has deep down given up on india as a country so they move out and those who can’t afford to move except their reality and look down upon those who left so they can feel better about not being able to leave. The government should focus on restoring trust in the upper middle class on india.

I am a indo Canadian but i Came to Canada in the 90s And we're happily welcome any Indian or any Punjabi person then but now living in Canada. I feel like I am in Punjab, not Canada.
There are too many people here. Especially immigrants from Punjab in India. But there's absolutely no work availability.
Is it's after hitting a market with people and not enough work? So how will these students manage? They take big loans. What about the Canadian citizens that are born in Canada? What will they do? What if everybody from Ontario started moving to Punjab, to take their jobs? Do you think they will be happy? Even the Canadian citizens here cannot find a basic job. Just serving coffee, that is how ridiculous it is here. That shows you that having too many immigrants
There's also an issue I understand there is not a lot of work and good jobs, but when you come here now, the employer has a choice and they were undercut so now they will give you pennies for work. That is a difference. I have seen students working 1414 hours just to earn a basic living. Why can't they work that hard in india

Dependence on rivers that neither originate nor drain out in the state. Internal sectarian friction (viz-a-viz Jatts, Ravidasias and other groups). If you have good standards, it may be better to do a degree in India (there are many private Engg. colleges in the South) by spending a few lakhs rather than spending tens of lakhs for a degree in a small college in Canada.
