    one of the most clear and interesting videos I've ever seen on TH-cam from a garage undertaking suspension rebuild. Bravo

    Great video as usual. Yes, fixed price for the suspension rebuild is a great idea. This is work that will always become necessary and a fixed rate can be budgeted for. Keep up the good work.

      The request for overhauls is becoming more and more common. Thanks for your feedback.

      Thanks very much. A fixed price for this overhaul will be added to the menu on the website shortly!

    As a 991.1 owner, I don’t even have that much interest in the 996, yet your channel is so fantastic, I watch it regardless, as the information provided is brilliant. Taking the time to go through the old suspension components, showing their weaknesses, failure points, etc., that’s what makes this channel so good… your time and effort creating these videos is much appreciated…

    I've used Meyle parts on BMW renovations and the only niggle I would state is that I've found the rubber bush components to degrade quite quickly. My personal choice in future would be somebody like Lemforder.

    Great video again. There’s always demand for honest prices that are known prior to work commencing and quality service, just like you guys provide.

    Yeah, a fixed price for the suspension work would be a great asset for both you and the customer.

    The best produced and most informative video to date from FGP. Well done. The price should go onto the website. Let me know when the test car is ready do I may commit.

    I did this same overhaul on my 3/98 996 recently. Thrilled with how it feels, but was disappointed the M030 didn't lower the ride height at all from the former factory, stock US setting, and in fact I think it is now a bit higher. Seems like you experienced the same thing. I'm hoping it'll settle in as you said. In any event, I trust the Porsche engineers over the aftermarket stuff and am happy with the M030. Great content as always. More please!

    • @friendsgreenporsche5234
      @friendsgreenporsche5234  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi RFK. The M030 is 10mm lower, but this is of course 10mm lower than new “standard” suspension, not 20+ year old sagging suspension!

    • @Rockit181
      @Rockit181 ปีที่แล้ว

      ROW M030 is lower than US stock and stock M030.

    nicely done - did exactly the same job (well ok, same at the front, slihglty different on the back!) on a 130k milke 986 a few years back. People who havent done it will never realise - the difference is incredible, The old parts were 'fine'. Its a long, long time from being worn out to the point where you get knocks, leaky dampers, mot fails etc. I reckon the vast majority of 996 and 986 on the road are well overdue this. Peice mealing it a bit at a time is a waste, bite the bullet and go for it, its so worth it!

    Really good content, very appreciated! I like the ducktail on the 996s... unfortunately I guess it is not street legal in Germany (where I live). A suspension refresh is a clear "must-do" in case it was untouched for more than 15yrs (which is highly likely, I have seen a lot...).

    Great video
    Keep them up 👍
    I hear what your saying
    A nice one
    But to me looks neglected 20 year old suspension never been touched.
    How well would the rest of the car been looked after if this items have never been addressed.
    Just saying 🤔

    I would be interested in a full suspension rebuild, mine is a gen 2 996 C4S, I believe its all original, apart from one front corner that has new inner and outer track rods and a tuning fork, replaced a few days ago.

    Great video as always. One thing why not change out the anti roll bar (sway bar) bushes at the same time for poly's there only 30£ and maybe power-coat the bar at the same time would look awesome if nothing else. Keep the videos coming maybe a engine rebuild

    There was a time when we just replaced the bushings and ball joints. Now days you mostly see the whole suspension arms with those components factory installed.
    Are those arms worth salvaging and installing bushings and ball joints and cleaning them up, and then selling them on, maybe for a slightly reduced price?
    Does Porsche ship those directly to you from the factory or is there an independent dealer involved. Thanks Luke.

    Nice video, very clear, i have just finished doing my C2, with standard Bilstein, metle arms and TRW drop links front and back.
    I believe TRW was the standard mount for the arms and drop links, I found that the TRW arms are very expensive , pratically the price durect from Porsche, that is why I went with Meyle.
    What is your feedback on TRW?

    For my 996.2 ('04) C2, thinking to go B4 Front / B6 Rear --Keeps factory height / road feel but B6 rears to balance out the heavier backend. Whats your professional take on that approach? Thx !

      Hi Tom, I disagree; it was one of the less corroded 996s. From memory, it was around 70,000 miles. Do you by any chance live in America or another sunshine blessed country?
