Love it! You guys did so well! Tip for Ash: you can take the board to the ingrediënts for the cheeseboard, reducing your walking a lot. Most efficiënt: cut apple, take apple to boards, take board (with apple) to cheese/nuts.
Sadly Ash, as creative and hilarious as your solution to the truth/lie riddle is, it doesn't technically solve it. The whole point is that you only have one question to ask and you need to work out which path to take, so while your method would establish who you're talking to, you'd then be out of questions and won't know which path to go down. That's why the standard solution is to ask "what path would your brother say is the correct path", because then the answers will either be a lie about the truth, or the truth about a lie, so they both end up telling you the wrong path regardless of who you asked, so you just go the opposite way to that answer. If I were your DM though and you pulled that stunt? I'd absolutely let you have it without a second of hesitation. That kind of out of the box thinking is exactly the sort of thing you want to reward, especially if it's funny, and no-one likes a DM that "um ackshewally"s everything
For that 'one of us always lies, one always tells the truth' puzzle, I'd pay attention to where the puzzle information is coming from. If it's one of the guards themselves, mustn't they be telling the truth? The liar can't give the information, because then they'd be telling the truth, wouldn't they? Unless the basic facts about the puzzle include zero truth-tellers, then their statement that one tells the truth is a lie... hmm. An idea for a sadistic DM.
