I think it's a more of a foreign thing. I'm from the states so I don't know for sure, but I guess families in different countries can "host" foreign families, to help them with the language, a place to stay, etc.

Story about the girls staying with a host family, was weird. Not the story itself just what happened with her and her friend. The man was a jerk and really should have been called out on it. And the comment he said about being a vegetarian, is crap, you're not going to die sooner because you lack meat. But only giving her a few pieces of lettuce? just give her some vegetables and whatever carb is being served, it's not that difficult. And then the nosy questions about money, really is none of his beeswax. And they gave him and his family gifts and had a fit because it wasn't expensive? he should have been greatful that they gave him anything as he was a prick. I am so glad I never had to go to a different country as an exchange student, my cousin did though, she went to Germany, I can't remember how long but apparently nothing bad happened, not like what those two girls went through. Anyways, great video, love listening to these kind of stories.
It's so very obvious It's been made up because nothing in that story was believable. Writing tip if one wants people to think ones story is true don't make ones characters so unbelievable its not even funny
