Spoilers but upon listening to this again it brings to mind...
That 16 people, of decent to extremely high level of combat ability, with some aid from a Force ghost, literally ALL had to JUMP this man, THE Ironblood himself, to take him down in hand to hand.....
Not bad for 9 games of buildup....
And the true follow up to this fight, with what is it.. like 50 characters? Hooooooo boy, that was some FUCKING fire stuff at the end of the game :).

The dude is so extra that he gives Loewe a run for his money. While Loewe was never properly beaten by anyone in the cast, Osborne not only rivals his power but he surpasses his will, which is a fucking feat, considering how far Loewe went and how hard it was to break his will.
Guess the two of them are lionhearts, must run with that title.
I mean, Loewe was a beast, but he was never even close to the level of McFireBro or Lianne and both of them acknowledge Osborne’s power.
But that being said, Loewe was just a human, quite gifted, but you can’t compare to those, who exceed mortal limitations.

Yeah. Absolutely brutal fight, and made all the heavier with that intense theme. All from Trails in the Sky the Third's "The Final Choice". Brilliant.
so many people tried to convince me this game was bad. crazy how they were wrong.
What were there arguments? Already finished the game twice and I think it was the perfect final game for an Arc, so I'm curious now
the middle act was boring and overall the game retreads too much from CS2
I mean, i kind of understand them, CS is the worst of the series imo, sky was the best, but all cs games were still great games and carried the spirit of the franchise. People who complain about the cheesy speaches and characters gaining power from will prob werent paying atention on the previous games, just hate this one because it's mainstream now
Huh? People think this game is bad? It literally dethroned Tales of Symphonia as my favorite game. A position it held for nearly a decade
@@8-bitsarda747 This game has flaws. However the good parts more than make up for them.
Many people see Rean as a Mary Sue, and I personally agree. He is kind and caring to the point of stupidly self-sacrificing. Everyone loves him, even his enemies respect him overly much.
Also pretty much every woman in the game fawns over him. He just feels very one-dimensional.
The game (and series overall to be fair) also suffers from the fact that almost nobody ever dies, or at least STAY dead.
It's gotten to the point where, when Millium got killed in CS3, I felt nothing. Not that I didn't like her, but I knew it wouldn't stay.
This holds true for all of Cold Steel. Osborne died, but not really. Crow died, but not really. Then he died again, but not really. Then he died a third time, but not really. Millium died, but not really. Toval died, but not really. Victor Arseid died, but not really. Olivert died, but not really. Angelica died, but not really.
And whenever any characters try to self-sacrifice, or kill themselves, or anything else, something/someone always stops it. It's become WAY too predictable.
The only surprise in that regard, in the entire Cold Steel series, was the Lance Maiden. That one was a surprise, and a MUCH needed death.
No fight ever feels tense, and there are no real stakes, when you know nobody dies.
HOWEVER!!! As I said before, these flaws even out by the massive amount of awesome that the game, and series, has to offer.
Legend of Heroes is my absolute fav game series, but I do agree that the Cold Steel arc was the weakest, when compared to Sky or Crossbell.
But "weakest" among the best, does not mean "bad".
Unisuga is truly the MVP when it comes to using the Heimdallr leitmotif. He is the one who made it after all.

A perfect track and title for the climatic battle with Osborne. The intro, leitmotif, instrumentation, this track is great.

He was more an antagonist than a villain. Sure he did a lot of bad, but it was all with the goal of ending the curse of Erebonia and the Great One. He was an "ends justify the means" kind of guy. A million lives lost in a war was an acceptable payment if the curse might be destroyed for good, in his eyes.
Yeah, specially when your own family already ruined because the damn curse, other family and life does not really matter as long as the curse ended.

Sure, the fight itself was incredible.. but jesus christ, the goosebumps when the Introduction Card of THAT Boss showed up, after hearing about it for so, so long.. what a moment.

Osbourne is the most powerful villain doing what only the protagonists are capable of doing:
Spamming the S-craft repeatedly whenever he has the chance.
I feel like the only one who rarely used S-crafts. I only ever used them when stealing turn bonuses.
I use mine when the enemy uses theirs.... it's like a challenge!

Jouji Nakata nailed it with Osborne’s voice, what a coincidence since he also voices Kirei from Fate
When some of the Fate characters voicing Trails characters, too. Examples are McBurn is voiced by Archer and President Gramheart is also voiced by Kiritsugu Emiya too.
Sucks that he was recast in the Dub for Cold Steel 4.

My favorite Unisuga song. This is the pinnacle of composition.
This song narrates a tale. You simply cannot compose this without carefully loving the story you're creating. This truly is the theme of the Emperor.

I've never cried DURING THE FINAL BATTLE!!! But finally facing this foe that has been built up since Sky, and him using that absolutely insanely cool S-Craft right when 0:48 hit broke me. Thank you Unisugoat.

This is just the perfect end to a absolute legend. A man whose will was so strong was able to resist the curse for over 250 years. A man with such resolve that he was willing to do anything, even become a villain his people despised in order to protect them from pure evil. A man so dominant that it took a small army of extremely talented and powerful fighters in order to stand against him.
After build up of 9 games Falcom really did this character justice. Just fucking awesome. 👌

Shit is legendary, properly legendary music, Unisuga didn't just go out with a big bang, he went out with an entire soundtrack that culminated with the biggest fucking bang.

It's no exaggeration when I say that Osborne is possibly my favorite antagonist in fiction.
The way they started building him since Sky 3rd was divine.
Also probably unpopular opinion but Majestic Roar along with To a Glimmering Tomorrow and Azure Arbitrator is definitely my favorite final boss theme

@@buttertoast1146 Yeah afaik there is a PSP translated version but IIRC it isn't good, you should download it on pc, i don't know if there is a way to use the current translation legally buying the game though, I had to donwload it but probably will buy the jp version in the future to support Falcom.
Anyways soon Geofront (A FanTL team, that already translated Zero no Kiseki) will release the new Ao fan translation, the quality is extremely higher (both the text and game functions), but if you can't manage to wait you gotta use the old translation on nyaa.si (just search for Ao no Kiseki) which is kinda clunky. Still decent though, I didn't have too many problems.
I suggest you to play Ao before Hajimari since Crossbell knowledge is extremely important. Playing before CS3 would have been even better but considering your pfp I think you already beat CS4 anyways, so go for it.

This battle, and Osborne himself is what Namco tried to do with Heldalf in Zestiria. But their presentation was not on par with the expectation, so he doesn't quite get there.

Best decision I ever made was bringing evasion tank Kurt to this fight with aegis to draw agro. If not for the constant crits and counters the Osborne fight would’ve been a nightmare
So just to make sure I'm understanding this correctly. Osborne was never under Ishmelga's control and wanted Rean to win the final rivalry? If so, then how exactly did he resist the curse for so long despite being directly connected to its source, while his iron bloods succumbed over a period of time? Or am I missing something?
I dunno, let us wait for more three years until Xseed decides to bring their version to PS4 and more three years until they decide to bring a PC version so I can play it too, because s*** those people take too much time to do their work and people, in general, praise them way too much sometimes XD.
Actually Franz Reinford is the only one totally controlled by Ishmelga's influence hence he became Black Alberich. Osborne only sacrificed his soul and body to become Ishmelga's riser in the form of the Black Knight in exchange to save Rean's life, so while he is not human anymore and is constantly haunted by the curse his consciousness remains and still acknowledge Rean as his son. The Ironbreeds are not influence by the curse as Lector, Rufus and Claire have stated they owe their life to Osborne hence it is not possible to break their loyalty to him.
Let's not forget that Gilliath is the reincarnation of Dreichels the Lionheart emperor.
So the reason he's being sorta badass yet funky at the same time is because the mixture of Dreichels, his own, and curse of Ishmelga.
Because he's OP as hell.
Also, Alberich and Franz are not the same guy.
IMO, Alberich lives through reincarnation, he even assisted in beating the Dark Dragon. But it’s a means to an end: to release Ishmelga and plunge the world to chaos.
Franz was a vessel for Alberich, but being a vessel meant Franz had access to near infinite knowledge. How else would he be surprised in the idea of designing the Soldats during a flashback?

Think of the Spiral Of Erebos as the "corrupted" twin sibling of the Heimdallr Leitmotif.
The tunes are different, yet, the way they were structured are almost the same.. Or basically one.

HAH! Thanks to my *"Infinite Chrono Burst Rean"* build, Osborne was a "walk in the park" for me.
In fact, I finished the entire game without seeing his "S-Craft" even once (might need to search TH-cam for that). LOL!

@@siphons5737 Don't forget Musse's Brave Order, which drastically lowers Arte costs for several turns. All you need is to give Rean crit quartz or a build that increases crit rate, and use crafts with a high unbalance rate.
1: Use Musse's BO.
2: Rean casts Chrono Burst with minimal cost.
3: Rean uses high unbalance skills. If it leads to a link attack, you gain BP, which can be used towards another use of Musse's BO.
4: If Rean starts to run out of CP using his crafts, have him either replenish it with food or use normal attacks. The EP cost will be minimal regardless.
5: Rinse and repeat all of the above until you have a very dead boss.

You can hear Hemdallr's theme (from CS I) in this piece. Imo, Osborne was the WEAKEST enemy. The demon guy from Zero and even Mariabell in Ao were a lot harder than him, even in "Normal".
God, even Weissman (when was human) was harder than Osborne. Anyways, I enjoyed the battle.
