His sight-reading skills are so great he does half of it with his eyes closed.
Once you've practised long enough you can sense the notes on the paper...

I’d buy an album of 90’s rock/alternative/grunge hits done by dude.
I'd pay money for that, too.
Agreed. This needs to happen now.
I know, lefr me wanting too. Had a bit of animusic feel (but kinda better) & folks luv that (encouragement).
Shut the fk up and take my money!!
I approve this message. Count me in.
“You want me to sight read two lines at the same time??”
Pianists everywhere: yes
Organ players everywhere: Hold my second manual and the pedals.
@@chrab1472 lol
Beginner Pianist players be like: 2:00
Conductors: hold my full score
Ain't nobody care bout pianists we here for the bass, so leave your elitist crap under your 3rd chin pianust
I love how he plays everything except the actual bass line.
This made me think of Kurt and Dave stopping at a Jazz club for Dave to go to the bathroom. When Dave comes out, Kurt is on stage killing it
but where's Krist?
@@theunwelcome Playing the accordion in the corner.
Christ could do that. He is really good.
Then you wake up and remember that curt couldn't even hold a guitar properly
@@gamingroom12 so?
He made music didn't he?
1:53 just perfect..
I have no idea why that part is so damn funny
how does he do that?
@@hamzahcovers4893 I think he's pushing the string off of the fretboard
@@maxwelledison9954 as someone who plays guitar yes he's pushing the string
We do a little trollin’
i like how the actual bass line is still playing in the background.
I always tell my students we can ALL get better on our instrument... But..... This guy is the one exception to the rule. Lol. Amazing playing brotha.
This guy is amazing
He cant get better he is already 100% you say
The music teacher is finally not completely disappointed.
Haha so true
You post so regularly yet you still get better every episode. You really are one in a million. Incredible skill!
Thanks!
One in 7 billion tbh
@@josephruatkima4262 Yep, that's more like it
"I promise this is still Teen Spirit" I got ya bro, I'd recognize the chord progression anywhere
Even when reharmonized, it's still hard to not hear the song in there :D
2:41 Such a beautiful chord.
Fits so well
Agreed
Just a diatonic major triad. I guess the third seems nice when you're deprived of it most of the time (ie power chords)
That's an A major in the home key of A minor. That whole progression is alternating between major and minor, making those 3rds stick out and giving it the energy
Charles has once again scientifically proven the complexity of a rather simple song. Legendary!
huh
I love how creative this video is, not only do you make an easy song stupidly complex but you can still hear the original song, you have started to make the level names really creative! The last three killed me, keep it up!
Charles' advertising skills are 10/10. I'm not getting square space but seriously, companies spend millions on advertising research and this guy just nails it.
If he's so good then why didnt you get squarespace?
This is not the hardest song in the world. This is a tribute!
Please let Tenacious D be next. Anything by them.
That's kinda the point, that's why it says "if it was the hardest" as in he's adding riffs to make it more complex for effect as a tribute.
Only LingLing and Charles can sightread without looking. ✨
You know Charles practises 40 hours a day

2:04 this whole jazz part is insanely good
All the memes aside, this cover is actually really enjoyable. You can still discern the sound being SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT while seeing Charles slay the f out of it.
Your faithful fan from Cameroon. Love you
Thanks!
Charles is the only TH-camr from whom when I get a notification it's an instant click, no matter what.
That's the secret to happiness in life 🙏🏻
Same with ichika, since they don't waste my time with bloat, I can always spare the time instantly
The hardest part is remembering the lyrics.
I would tell you but oh well whatever nevermind

Something about gargling marbles
It is stuff like this that made me finally realize that i simply sucked at playing bass. I could get away with being crappy because it was the punk era. Loud and fast covered a LOT of mistakes.
"Kurt spends too long at the Jazz club" XD
I want to like this comment but it's at 69 ;_;
Ah Curtis Cobain back again with a jazz classic
I've said it before, I don't know how a guy that can't even pronounce his own last name can have such mad skills and talent.
Words cannot describe how much I respect you and your skill, Charles. Who knows how many bloody hours you've spend getting to this level, but I see your effort and have huge respect for it.
Two videos in one week from charles? This is the best day of my life
Please make this idea into reality - “new hardest bass line - Imperial march vs A New Hope, The Battle”
I know you can create this masterpiece! Thank you dearly in advance.
YES
When Kurt spends too long at the Jazz club he's eventually able to read the music with his eyes closed 😎
I freaking love the original song but hell yeah that was one enormous cover! Well done, sir!🙏🏼
Wow your channel really grew this year. David's initial collabs/shout outs and your talent, love for bass as well as consistency of great content made this possible. Well done mate! Keep it up!
I’m picturing Kurt’s ghost finally being able to Rest In Peace now that his song was redeemed after being used in Moulin f-ing Rouge.
Okay now I'm DEFINITELY never watching that movie.
The harmony you've chosen for the chords in the chorus is, without doubt, the main reason I come back to this video every single day. The tensions within them are so visceral and satisfying. You really are an incredible musician.
Sublime! I can never tell what's coming next. I loved the castlevania chords in the chorus and the jazz detour was a blast. Special stuff!
The chorus is just insane
What's the 3rd hardest song in the world? 🤔

GOOD JOB 👍 Jesus bless you and your family from Norway
"Kurt and Dave hit a Jazz club" For Krist's sake Charles...
That's THE guitarrist and the drummer, as a bass player in a bass channel I don't even know what to say...
ikr, krist where

I LOVE this new series! You're doing so great not just musically, but your "acting" is getting better :) Keep at it master bassist ;)
now that's an impressive display of skills and musicality. Keep it going, Charles!

Plays Nirvana on bass, leaves out bassist of Nirvana
Sight reading without looking at the score, what a champ
The skit-based nature of these videos are truly fantastic, really enjoying them!
Man you really are one of the best bass player of our time! Keep it up, the tone you have on your bass is so damn good, and super interesting to hear all the time. Love it, absolutely phenomenal.
Honestly the jazz part was amazing.
1:34 Man, I wonder where Kurt was hiding all of those harmonies...
your face with the funny noise part is actual gold! amazing job on the whole thing. keep being awesome!
Charles, you are great! You are slowly approaching the 1 million subs and deserve every one of them!
How does it feel to be the best bassist on TH-cam and possibly of all time
I wouldn’t go THAT far
"........ In the worrrrld."
Clearly, cuz of my pfp, ill love this
charles has been raising the amount of energy in his videos and its amazing
Brilliant! This was a pleasure to listen.
Mentions Kurt and Dave. Never mentions... Nirvana's bass player.
I thought the same thing.
@@kelberutagori2578 Me too! Maybe in the skit he's supposed to BE Krist Novoselic?? I don't know.

This genuinely put a smile on my face. Thank you!
THIS is a true Bass youtuber, a true musician. Not just stupid memes all the time.
The song DOES smell of gymnasium and PE class. Nice work! Pianists appreciate you giving me my left hand back... for ... other things I guess ..
Love the strumming at the end.
I really enjoyed this. Thank you.
You’re officially better than Davie504
Fantastic! Loved it
I like your improvised version. Sounds great.
That was pretty cool Charles.... great idea.... way more complex versions of the songs we love nice work

Man that was incredible!!!
Oh my god i love that chord progression, it really gives it a different feel
I just learned rhythm for this now working on the lead. It’s hard just getting the right tone. You did awesome!
Maaan this is just amazing!
Total genius ! That jazz bit for sure !
Gosh darnnit Beartoo, your so good!
One of the All-Time Top Five Segues, there! Chapeau.
I'm caught between wanting to see Charles play and wanting to close my eyes and live in the wave of nostalgia that hit me with the opening chords. My brother used to practice this song over and over again way back in the 90s when we were teens.
Digging this series 🤙🏼
This is amazing!!
Absolutely love this guy he makes my favorite song from Nirvana sound even more amazing .
Never thought that it would be possible but us bass players like to challenge ourselves. Well done my man, well done.
