    Well Done to all the police officers involved. I think that for every 'bad' cop there are many, many more who sincerely want to help the community. We may not like it when we get pulled over for speeding, but the police are always there if we need them for cases such as this.

    • @canadiancatgreen
      @canadiancatgreen 9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      ali xena the remedy for not getting pulled over is simple and very very very easy to do just don't speed remedy for almost any ticket is to not do whatever the person did wrong very simple yet people blame police when they get a ticket it was not police fault the person speed or ran a red light or run a stop sign or did not signal or the newest one it is not police fault people drive distracted. police did not do it it was the drivers fault but they are still upset with police

    • @alixena9340
      @alixena9340 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      canadiancatgreen yes, well, thank you for the lecture. I actually said "We may not like it when we get pulled over for speeding......" I did not say anything about having ANY bad feelings towards the police officer, just that we don't like it if we get pulled over for speeding and cop a fine. Do you think that people should enjoy getting pulled over and getting a ticket for a traffic infringement?? Believe it or not, some people are actually mature enough to acknowledge they have broken a road rule and been fairly caught and fined. But we don't like it when it happens, but we hold no malice towards the police officer concerned.
      By the way, a few "bad" cops do exist, you can not deny that, but my point was that they are in the minority.

      Prison inmates, especially inmates doing time for murder do not have much empathy for pedophiles. They are often killed in prison or beaten regularly while the cheeks of the prison guards turn the other way.

      Rocky Melendez I would have to agree with you, how come on some episodes there's always someone watching that classic Christmas movie, "It's a Wonderful Life?", also that 6-year-old little girl should consider herself lucky, because God only knows what might've happen, I think that Parents should sit down with their children, and address the Stranger Danger to them, Parents should let their children know that a Stranger shouldn't ask for help, shouldn't have their picture taken without their parent's permission, should never go anywhere with a stranger without their Parents permission, should never, EVVER, take nothing as Presents from a Stranger, like a puppy, a kitten, a new toy, a DVD, a candy bar, or as The Rock would say "It doesn't matter what kind of Present", and Parent's should let their children know all the tricks and all the lures that a Stranger would use against them, also Parents should have their Children walk with other children to the school bus stop, also if a Parent is running a late of picking up their child from school, they should call the school to let them know that they're going to be late, or they'll have a Friend or a Relative pick him or her up, or if he or she would wait for them at the Principal's office, Also Parents should keep on eye on what their children is doing, that goes for Neighbor's too, also Parents and Children should have a secret code or a password, if a Stranger doesn't know it, then they would get away fast and tell a trusted adult or a policeman.

    The father really had terrible things happen to him in that he lost his son sometime earlier and nearly lost a daughter to a pedophile. It's just in the nature of a child to be friendly to strangers until they know better. We were taught in pre-school (circa 1959 for me) to NEVER accept a ride or candy, gum, etc from a stranger. Shannon's sister is a hero here in witnessing this and giving some details. The girls are approaching their 40s now and I hope life has been good to them.

      They are kids! We teach kids not to talk to strangers. But if you ask a child what a stranger is they tell you it's someone in a trench coat! To a child, if a person talks to them and seems friendly? Then that is not a stranger. They have proven over and over again that kids who were taught not to talk to strangers will still go off with strangers! So it doesn't work.

      Almost happened to me when I was about 10-11. Very slovenly and umkempt guy kept yelling and flagging me down so I took off as fast as I could peddle my bicycle. Fortunately the traffic kept him from crossing the street and possibly chasing me. That was about 55 years ago and is still a chilling memory to this day. I hope your mind is at ease, Amy. Hugssss.

    ok I watched 1 min of this, already spotted all the red flags. First of all, kids should never talk to a stranger behind a fence, that's sketchy enough as it is, secondly, the counting money thing is very similar to the other tricks that kidnappers use on kids " Like I've got kittens in my car?,or " Can you help me find my puppy? but they are kids, they can be tricked. Parents need to teach their kids that if anyone attempts to talk to them, and try to lure them into their car, say NO!, and run to the safest place, return home if possible or get to a neighbour's house, any closed area, as soon as possible.

    • @janiedoe1542
      @janiedoe1542 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Helena huang Well, that's good to know, Also I think that Parents and Children should have a Secret word or Password, because If a Stranger doesn't know the Secret word or Password, Then Children Should Run Away Fast and Tell a Trusted Adult or a Police Officer, And Children should learn to Fight Back, Like If a Stranger Tries to grab Him or Her, Then He or She would use their elbows, fists, legs, Or if they had a Backpack full of Schoolbooks They should use that as a weapon, Like throwing it in front of a Stranger's Face, Then That should give a Child a Chance to reach a safe place and tell a trusted adult or a Police Officer, also Children should walk with other Children because there's Safety in numbers, If a Stranger tries to get them, Won't be able to get them with all of those people there,  Also Children should never, ever take nothing as Presents, Like a New Toy, or a New DVD, or a New Video Game, or a Puppy, a Kitten, or a Candy Bar, from a Stranger, Children should Not have Their Picture Taken without Their Parents Permission, Or Should Never Go Anywhere with a Stranger, Or should never, Ever Keep Secrets, also Parents should Pay attention about what their children are doing, if it's playing in the front yard of the house, or in a playground, or a park, or a carnival, or on the internet, at all times, Also Children shouldn't play anywhere with an obstructed view, Also if Children are lost in a store, like WAL-MART or K-MART or TARGET, They should either look for an employee with a uniform or a nametag and tell he or she that they're lost, or go to the courtesy desk at the front of the store. Also Children should know that a Stranger shouldn't be asking for help, like finding their lost puppy or kitten, Children should run and tell a trusted adult, also When Children are Home Alone, They should remember to have all the Doors and Windows Locked at All Times, If a Stranger comes to The House, Then Children should quickly grab the telephone, go to the safest place in the house, like a bedroom, bathroom, closed the door, lock it, put something at the back of the door, and call 911.

    I walked home all the time by myself in high school and junior high. We lived right down the street, i just had to call my mom before I left school to let her know I was heading out. Though if I hung out longer than 30 minutes she'd call the school and have me paged. I learned quickly to let her know when I was going to be longer than a certain time.
    The biggest problem for me in high school was bomb scares. When I was a Junior and a Senior we got a ton of them and the first one where they locked us in the gym for four hours while inspecting the rest of the school they refused to let me even call my parents to let me go home or let them now what was going on.

    It’s been 28 years since this happened so Shannon is 34 and Rachel 33 now. I suppose they’re both married with children. The real hero of this story is Rachel because she ran to get Richard when she saw Shannon get kidnapped. It makes you wonder if she will get her own ‘It's a Wonderful Life’ someday, just to see what would happen if she had not have been there to help Shannon when she needed her. I’m sure Shannon can never thank Rachel enough for her help. She’s forever in her debt. I’m sure that Rachel and Shannon tell this story to their kids and make sure they don’t do the same thing.
