    Great information! I do have a friend who has the iPad Air 4th generation. I’ll have to ask him what all he does on it. I purchased the iPad Pro 2018 model in early 2019. I don’t plan to upgrade until it does not support iPadOS anymore. When I purchased this iPad, I was not sure if the iPad Air first generation would continue to receive software support. When I watched the worldwide developers conference Keynote later in June of that year, I did see where iPad air first generation will not receive the new iPadOS software. I just trade it in the iPad for cash. I have to let my dad borrow my iPad when he was still working full-time and he preferred the desktop computer over the iPad.

    The unexpected results in your video edit testing is likely linked to the unusual results in your storage speed tests. Video rendering is as much I/O-bound as SOC-bound so if the storage is not performing, neither will the export.

    I gotta say, been using my ipad air 4th gen since june 2021 mainly for drawing with clip studio paint. It can handle big canvas with no stutter. (1600x17920 pixels for webcomic and 4000x6000 pixels for illustration with 300+ layers).

    If Apple just. put. a desktop/MacOS mode on the iPad. Not a total conversion, just a mode. A partition. A button to push on the Home Screen to switch into a full fat trackpad/keyboard operating system, and these M1 tablets would be compelling. If not out of the box, then let customers install the OS themselves. Most if not all users don't want just another iPad with a processor that isn't even capable of being used to it's fullest potential.

    I'm worried that apple is gonna stop updating all other devices that don't contain a m1 chip in the next year or two. I'd hate to get the air 4 and then it slow down like crazy in a 1-2 years. I'm trying to pick my first tablet out for drawing. Apple tablets are just a lot of money to commit too.

      What do you mean by updating?

    • @bludaydreamr
      @bludaydreamr ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Apple could stop offering updates, but they traditionally don’t deem a device vintage for 5 years (meaning they support their devices’ software) and at 7 years it’s considered obsolete and they no longer support it. I have the first ever iPad mini and it still works 9 years later - it’s not the best, but I can search the web.

      why would they do that man it logistically makes zero sense, only 2 out of the 5 devices in their current lineup offer an M1 chip or above, and most of the iPad user base is using the 10th gen and the 9th which have the a14 and the a13 chip, it wouldn't make sense to drop support for over half of their consumer base.

    Sales guy at the Apple store showed me the creaky build quality and what everyone keeps leaving out that he showed me at the actual Apple store was how the LCD screen is also squishy and gives a rainbow a ripple effect when you press down on it. This LCD squishy rainbow ripple is not prevalent in the pro, though. I don't know if it's prevalent in the air 4 as well.

    • @sloppynyuszi
      @sloppynyuszi 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The rainbow thing with high pressure is common on every screen. Especially on laminated ones.
      I’ve been using iPads since gen 1 and I draw on them. Right now I have an M1 pro and a Mini. If I push hard on them I get a rainbow ripple. And I had this on every screen from Wacom Cintiq, Galaxy tab, Surface pro and iPads.
      It’s not harsh, and you have to really press hard, which only happens if you need to draw specific precise lines. You can teach yourself against it.
      But you can test out any screen if you push hard.

    I bought the iPad Air 4 when it came out, and I couldn’t be happier with it. The A5 is powerful with the M1 chip, but the performance between the A4 and the A5 isn’t that much distinguishing. And besides, if I need to scratch that M1 itch, I have my M1 MacBook Air. Not to mention that you’ll save some money. If you’re coming from the OG iPad, then it’s a worthy upgrade to the A4 or the A5. But if you have the A4 already, save your money. The A4 is still a worthy buy.

      would you say its worth dropping $50 more on an A5 compared to an A4 for someone that hasn't had an iPad before? i don't see myself needing the M1 as this would mainly be for notes and media consumption. not to mention needing the pencil which is another expense on top. how has your A4 aged over the last 2 years?

    • @DatTruckinGuy
      @DatTruckinGuy ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Itsahilali I would say that it comes down to necessity. If for notes and media, then the A4 should be good. It’ll have 4G if you get the cellular version. The 2nd Gen Pencil will work fine with it too. That said; get the A5 if you want to future proof it. M1 with 5G on it sounds like it will last much longer than the A4. It’ll handle notes, media, and more. I upgraded to the A5 and gave my A4 to my brother; held up like a champ.

    My original iPad is second generation so I waited a bit to upgrade. My original still works th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA , but the battery is bad and won't stay charged so it always has to be plugged into a power source. The new 10th generation was a great bargain for Prime Day that I couldn't pass up. It was easy enough to set up: everything came down from iCloud with no issues.
