DUUUUUUUUDE!!! I've been stuck trying to edit a kmz layer for DAYS with the vertex tool being grayed out. I was honestly about to give up an manually go over everything but this fixed everything. You have my gratitude sir, thank you
when I save the imported KMZ file as an SHP file I loose most of my attributes that were stored in the attribute 'description'. Any sollution how I can solve thos problem? thanks for the video!
Hi. I tried to install the plugin on the latest version - QGIS 3.26 Buneos Aires on Windows 10/11 machine- and it installs easily with no error at all. I also tried to unpack attributes of a KML/ KMZ file and it works perfectly exactly as described in the Video. So (a) Any issue that you might be facing, if related to failed plugin installation appears likely to be local to your machine - maybe you can repair/reinstall qgis and try again OR (b) if the case is that the plugin installs successfully but you are not able to find "Expand HTML description field", please look under Vector > KML tools and NOT Raster KML tools. Hope this helps you resolve your issue.
@@ChinmayaSinghRathore Thanks for the reply. I have tried to install and re-install the plugin many times on my two machines. I can find the option to expand HTML but for some reason, there are no fields showing up to expand like on 6:35
Maybe you can try to check the KML File in Google Earth Pro. Try the following test to see if the plugin is working well. Open Google Earth Pro and digitize a polygon. In the Description box paste the following HTML Code which has three fields in very simple HTML (Owner, Area and Registered) . Create two more polygons and paste the same code in Description just changing owners and area. Then Create a KML/KMZ file of just these three polygons and try to import in QGIS using the KML Tools polygon: Owner Terry James Area 15 Registered Yes If this test works, you know that your Plugin is fine and it is your KML file that you are trying to import that might have issues. So you can inspect the HTML in each polygon of that file to see if the attributes are properly coded or are placed inside description box. Hope this helps.
Sir,u have done from kmz to shapefile.....how to do from shapefile to kmz...while converting i am not getting description....by tapping on map in google earth i am not getting description....how to resolve it please help sir.
Hi. You can do this in any GIS software Like QGIS or ArcGIS easily by reading in the KML or KMZ file and then saving it as shapefile. There are some online converter tools as well. Just Google online KMZ to SHP. As far as online tools go, it is a good practice not to upload any sensitive data on third party computers in the cloud. You can find some guidance to do this offline in QGIS and ArcGIS in the following article: mapscaping.com/converting-between-kml-and-shapefiles/ Hope this helps

Hi, this plugin won't work on the newest QGIS version. May I know which version are you using?
