I had no idea there was more involved than just running behind a pacer 😅 Good to know about water stations and bathroom breaks. Also, the pacer who couldn't make the promised time... man, that really sucks.

Thank you for your comment. Yes, that is why I always suggest interviewing the pacer to get a good scene of the level of comfort you should place, but never 100%.😀

I totally understand where you're coming from. Running a marathon is no joke, and there's definitely more to it than just following a pacer. It takes a lot of mental and physical strength to push through those 26.2 miles.
And don't even get me started on the disappointment of a pacer not being able to make their promised time. It can really throw off your entire race and leave you feeling defeated. It's frustrating, to say the least.
But don't let these challenges discourage you from pursuing your running goals. Remember, every race is a learning experience and an opportunity to grow as a runner. Keep pushing through the obstacles, stay hydrated, and take those bathroom breaks when you need them.
Most importantly, be proud of yourself for even attempting such a feat. Running a marathon is an incredible accomplishment, and you should feel proud of yourself no matter what the outcome. Keep up the great work!

Hi Victor - thanks so much for this video. Running half marathon in Indianapolis on Saturday. They have a 2:30 pacer - ran 13 last week at 2:38, my 12 miles was 2:26 - should I try to keep up or avoid them?

Hi Francene- I am so proud of your training progress and the goal you have set for the indianapolis half marathon! Based on your recent timings, you're close to the 2:30 pace, So I'd encourage you to try and follow the pacer during the race.Staying with the pacer would allow you to stay relaxed, focus on form and maintain a steady cadence. Remember to listen to your body and trust your training- you've got this! Wishing you the best of luck, and I can't weight to hear about your experience at the race.😀

@@MrVictorviz - thanks Victor! Stayed with the 2:20 pacer for the first 2 miles, 2:30 pacers until mile 8 then my endurance started to wane - finished 2:39. I think training to 14 miles next time might help. Will continue my training! Thanks again.

How do pacers operate with world class runners in big marathons that are shooting for world records? The pacers cant run the whole race (or they would win themselves). Do pacers file in/out throughout the race at different mile marks?

Hi Jeffrey! for very fast pacing on races they usually alternate pacers.
