    Nice practical video. I take my Vespa 250 off the center stand the same way from the side. I make sure my left hand is ready to brake when the scooter is down to keep me from running it into something from the forward momentum. I enjoy the videos.

      Thanks, Ivin! I should have mentioned to be on the ready with that brake. I find I am hyper aware that way on the bigger scoots!

    THANK YOU for this and the "Choose the RIGHT Scooter" video's! I JUST started looking and I'm leaning towards the Genuine Urbano 200i. I do wish it had the open area for phone, cup, etc instead of the glove box. I don't *PLAN* to take it on the highway, but there are faster speeds on some side roads here. I like how short the kick is, but I'm sure it would be too slow for me. Aaahhh decisions, decisions. I don't live near many dealers, so that's a factor too

    Very nice technical instructions. I'd only seen the correct method demonstrated by men and I'm not tall enough to tug it up with my hand on either end using my knee for leverage. I sit on the scooter and rock it up and back, but it's hard. I can't wait to try this.

    Hi Renee! I’ve been slowly watching all of your videos after finding this one from googling if short ladies are able to ride vespas 😅 they’re all a great resource so far even if Im not at the point of taking the safety course yet!
    I was wondering if you have any insight into the difficulty of riding a scooter for someone that has never owned or ridden a regular bike?

    • @ScooterNewbie
      @ScooterNewbie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do think riding a bike makes the transition to being on the road in a more vulnerable way is helpful. It also helps give you the perspective of balancing on 2 wheels. BUT the safety course will start you from not balancing to balancing. You basically power walk the scooter to get a feel for how it moves. After a few passes they have you pull your feet up with a little speed.
      I have had folks email me when they drop out of the class for other reasons, but balance has not been a reason shared with me so far! The safety parts I think helped from the bike can be learned, and it's even safer on a scooter than a bike. After all, you're at the actual speed limits on a scooter!

    Lol, the Kymco would be a lot less painful to lift if you were wearing boots. Tennis shoes don’t do much to protect the soles of your feet when hefting a 500 pound bike! Great video, as always.

    I just bought a brand new 2023 Honda Metropolitan scooter this is my first scooter so I am a newbie but I accidentally dropped my scooter trying to put it on the center stand because I didn't know what I was doing now I scratched the side of it a little bit and that sucks hopefully everything is just cosmetic I really love this little scooter my only real complaint about the Honda Metropolitan is the mirrors are terrible it's so hard to see behind you do you have any recommendations thank you for your help

    • @ScooterNewbie
      @ScooterNewbie  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry to hear about the drop! Check out www.revzilla.com/parts/2023-honda-metropolitan-ncw50.
      Then filter on mirrors, and you'll have some after market options that should fit your specific scooter. I've heard that a more rectangular mirror can help, but there are also mirrors that fit in the ends, as well, for some options.

    I don’t have a kick stand just a Center stand what’s the safest way to dismount and put on Center stand

    • @ScooterNewbie
      @ScooterNewbie  ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t seen this before! If you’re open to adding a kickstand, you’ll appreciate it. BUT the idea is the same. Dismount on the left, keep ahold of the handlebar as you do it & then move into the process. I find this easier on the smaller scooter than the larger ones for sure, though.

  • @steinjohansen3142
    @steinjohansen3142 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Instead of faceing the scooter/bike, try to stand with your right side hip next to the bike. Left hand on the handle, right hand behind you on the grip.
    Then with your right foot, push the stand down, and when you feel it´s steady on the ground, step on it.
    You use your bodyweight to put the bike on the centerstand, instead of pushing with your foot and pulling with your hands. ;-)
    At 0:09 in the video you did it right, but in the rest of the video you pushed with your foot instead of step.

    • @ScooterNewbie
      @ScooterNewbie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's how my husband does the AK550. I'm using my leg & body weight when facing, but I guess I don't look like I am. So glad the dealer showed me!

      I ride a Wolf brand jet classic 2 scooter, it weighs 200 lbs and I can't lift that. So I just leave it on the side kick stand. It not easy as people make it look to get it up on that center stand.

      That's cool. I think that would be a great idea. I chose a 50cc scooter I know some people want faster scooters, but I just bought mine last year and I don't think I want anything larger than that at this point. I actually love the one I have. Everyone likes to say "you need a faster scooter" and I keep saying ah no I don't 😂 ... Haters will be haters 😂.. the great thing about scooters is they are for the individual and what they feel comfortable with. It's not about how fast you go, it's about enjoying the ride..
