soo hype for dune video. Been watching some of your streamvods on raised by wolves love it. Are you going to do any more videos on Raised by wolves or maybe some content on Wheel of time?
Camina Drummer is easily my favorite character from the show, and Cara Gee played her perfectly. I especially loved her friendship/rivalry with Ashford, it was always such a joy to see both of them in a scene playing off one another.
I wish her argument with Naomi from the 2nd to last episode would've gotten a mention in this video. It was so perfect. When Naomi says: "All we can do now, is stand by the people we love." I was instantly thinking: "Fuck you with your high ground, almost trying to emotionally manipulate Drummer. That's not how you convince her." And then she answers, in this pained whisper: "Fuck you. You self-righteous shit." I started crying with her. Watched that scene a dozen times already and it still makes me cry.
im sure they want to make more, the problem is the stress and effort they go through for the 6 seasons to bring their vision of the story to life. They might be creatively exhausted so maybe taking a break from the expanse will bring a better expanse then a rushed one straight away
@@username.exenotfound2943 I would love for that to happen, but tbh. I doubt getting the band back together after a decade of doing other stuff is very likely. We can always hope though.
John Anderton: Minority Report, Joseph Cooper : Interstellar, Jason Nesmith: Galaxy Quest, Doug Quaid: Total Recall 1990, Kevin Flynn: Tron 1982, Kara Thrace: Battlestar Galactica
If you want another show with excellent character development, I would really recommend the reimagined Battlestar Galactica series. It has cool space battles, but it also really goes into the human aspect of fighting to survive and losses along the way.
@wulozhero6684 This is far more balanced , fleshed out, well acted, directed, written, and rooted in the human condition facing alien. Bsg biggest off-putting is the mess of soap opera drama. It was a different time.
I loved the Ashford and Drummer duo. They were excellent how they played off each other, supported each other, and hated each other. That's a damn good friendship.
The problem is the psychological drama is isolated from the character's respective pasts. Its too easy to forget that both characters are cold blooded killers, when you listen to them talking. The dramatic moments in the Expanse where these characters show their ability to kill... are just moments. When you are in the company of killers, EVERYTHING takes on a different context, and its not simply a matter of characterisation and individual style. Killers don't have different masks that they change to suit the moment... as actors do. A killer is always a killer, like a creep is always a creep, or a thief is always a thief. Killers never switch off their tactical mode. They are always sizing EVERYONE up as a target. Distances, surfaces, obstacles, exits: They can never afford not too, and many do not have a choice. They don't know any other way to interact with people. This means that EVERYONE they interact with, is always slightly dehumanised in their eyes. They may be able to mask it if they are clever, but that just places another layer of BS between them and real life: another element that can go wrong. This is one of the many prices a killer pays to keep breathing.
I love the character arc of drummer. Her getting to the top was a long series of extreme highs and lows, and in the end she pulled off a silent coup which was totally in character. Excellent writing through and through, and an excellent performance from Cara Gee!
Drummer ended up being my favorite character. The best thing about this series was that character changed as things progressed. In many shows the characters are basically always the same no matter what happens to them. It makes this show realistic with how alliances changes and politics and relationships. This show had exelent characters and I loved them. And I loved the way they dealt with Phillip. Kind of like how Naomi in the end saved his son, although she never would know it.
@@guineapiig8089 I wholeheartedly agree. There are some shows that started great but got lost in somewhere trying to be surprising or forgeting the characters. Often characters do stuff that people seem random and it ruins them. That happened with game of thrones. It started great with nuance and characters reacting to things that happened in the show. They had this idea of characters doing certain things that did not seem properly motivated and thus did not seem to fit where the characters were in their development and story arch. Instead they should have likely changed the end game to give characters an arch that seemed fitting.
In my opinion, I think this was definitely one of the best sci-fi shows ever created. It had great character arcs that went very deep. The battles in space were simply amazing.
Same! But I think they are hoping to get another series or a miniseries going. Plus I also heard that the authors are currently working on a new series it'll be very different from the expanse so perhaps they want to take a step back and figure out what to do if anything is done with the expanse further beyond their book series.
@@sashamugs In Ty and that guy they let it shine through that it was more of a time and scheduling issue than money, because of covid they had to implement work shifts ect. which slowed down production.
@@NoWacko It wouldn't surprise me if behind the scenes, it was a victim of Bezos' and Amazon's obsession with having "their" Game of Thrones. Despite the series having every bit the potential (and actually getting finished) to be a GoT contender, Amazon snatched up the IP and tried to go cheap with ten-episode seasons, gimmick release schedules that were obvious attempts to nickel-and-dime Prime subscribers, and left the series almost completely unsupported on the marketing and merchandise front. Season 4 I suspect didn't meet expectations -- which how could it have, it was set up to fail -- and they finished out to season 6 out of obligation. As everyone with a pair of eyes can now see with Wheel of Time -- and what will certainly be the case with Rings of Power -- Amazon Studios has no patience or faith to let a series develop if it isn't an immediate smash hit. Expanse likely wouldn't have gotten a season 2 in the first place, had it been on Amazon all along.
To be clear, Naomi's problem with Clarissa is not her relationship with Amos, it's the fact that she's murdered numerous people, tried to frame Holden for murder, as a result almost got the Roci and everyone on it destroyed by the Behemoth's torpedo, and personally tried to murder Naomi with a mech suit. Also, I would say Duarte in the show is still depicted as quite sincere and respectful - to all those worthy of his respect (in his eyes). Laconia has no patience for people they view as ungrateful terrorists and malcontents. They have no respect for Marco's faction, simply using them as a tool. I don't really see the on screen portrayal as at all inconsistent with the books.
Duarte in the books stresses respect for the conquered people of the other systems even though they don't live up to Laconian ideals. He is even nice to Holden (although Holden was roughly interrogated and imprisoned by others on Duarte's orders) even though he knows Holden wants to take down Laconia. I wouldn't say it was out of character to be short with Marco because this happens decades before you really get to know him in the books, but it was probably inserted to be a kind of cathartic F you to Marco for the viewers.
I really hope the final 3 books make it to series. I’m currently reading the books right now, they are amazing… The TV programme is incredible… and an adaptation of a story this epic, deserves its true finale. One of the most impressive things I take from the TV programme, is the actors’ portrayal of the characters. They are absolutely spot-on and a true nod to the source material.
I have watched a lot of scifi in my long life and the Expanse is the Usain Bolt of it. It is so vastly superior to everything else, it is glaring. Characterisation, a script that does not waffle uselessly, special effects that belong in a class of their own, incredibly beautiful photography, ethics the world has forgotten already, and I could go on. Just watched it again in its entirety. Even better the second time round.
The Stargate O'Neill reference , whether intentionally or not, is a reference to the movie and not the show. O'Neil in the movie had only one 'L'. When RDA accepted the role for the show he differentiated the character from the movie not just with the humor but by adding a second 'L' to O'Neill. In the show he caled it out a few times saying there was another O'Neill in the Airforce with only 1L and that he has no sense of humor.
There are a few O'Neils in the USAF, here's one who as far as I can ascertain, is still serving: Published Oct. 19, 2018 By Staff Sgt. You know the sad thing? Amazon dropped a show like this and is making a show like The Rings of Power. Even if it didn't follow the other books. You have so many stories you could tell. It had an amazing cast, crew, and writers.
@@DesertFernweh It blows my mind that the idea a dwarf or elf could be black triggers some Americans so much. It certainly tells more about you than it does Amazon. Do tell, where did you get your training in mythical creature genetic purity? Trump University perhaps? Is it OK for dragons to be black? If so, why is that different?
@@Vilakazi The show cast a black elf and dwarf. Social cons find that triggering... I guess all of the elves they know personally are white, like Jesus.
I had no idea any of this existed until about 3 weeks ago. I am a life long sci-fi fan. This has very quickly became one of my favorites. I have to know the rest of the story and plan on reading the books. But I really wish it would have not gotten canceled.
It's a good pausing point for the show, because the next books take place 30 years in the future, so they probably will have to go with all brand new actors anyways or extreme makeup
@@jiijii123123 Nah. It's a 30-year gap with anti-aging drugs. In the books the characters are described as going grey around the temples, that kind of thing. They aren't old-old, they're effectively late 40s or so despite being chronologically in their 50s or 60s. They might remark how doing X crazy stunt would have been easier 30 years ago, but Amos is still whupping ass and Bobbie is still a badass. Their age is more of an aside than a practical consideration, that's how not-old they are.
This is the best sci fi spaceTV show I've ever seen. The attention to detail is incredible. The characters are incredible and really well acted. The last season was alittle bit of a let down. But i enjoyed every second of this show. I started watching it out of curiosity having heard nothing about it during season 3 and boy am i glad i did.
Go watch it. It is a little slow at first building exposition, but once you get over the hump of the first season, the show becomes a living breathing entity that will keep you coming back. Highly recommend.
Like others have said... This show is some of they best sci-fi of this generation both visually and story wise. Even the actual physics is pretty much spot on. If you are a sci-fi lover then you pretty much have to watch it.
The show is really good. If you've ever seen Battlestar Galactica, The Expanse is on that same level in my opinion. That said, the first and maybe even second season are a little "goovy" compared to the seriousness and high quality of the later seasons.
If you like the kind of shows Alt covers then this will definitely suit you. It's an incredibly well written, acted and directed show with immaculate world building and realism.
In addition to the Easter eggs you mentioned... D. Quaid - Doug Quaid (Total Recall) A. Rogan - Alex Rogan (The Last Starfighter) D. Bowman - Dave Bowman (2002: A Space Odyssey) J. Neary - Roy Neary (Close Encounters of the Third Kind) W. Riker - Number One Stumped with Buck, Banks, Starr and Stone.
I actually really enjoyed the dog storyline. I've read the main books and was thrown for a loop when Cara and Xan showed up. It was really nice to get a little backstory on them, and get a glimpse of early day Laconia. It didn't take too much screen time, and while I'm usually not a fan of child actors those two were fine
@Roberto Vidal Garcia Not really, maybe most of your friends are just ape brains. It doesn't instantly click with you until like ep 4, which is probably why people dropped it.
@Roberto Vidal Garcia I love sci-fi...books...movies... and TV. As I have gotten older and much more busy in my career and home, it has gotten more difficult for me to watch shows with whole series story arcs like The Expanse. Now, for my sci-fi fix, I would love to have a great sci-fi show that you can just pop in and out of but still enjoy it. This was much more difficult to do with the Expanse because if you leave that show alone for a few weeks, you really have to take time to refresh yourself on the details so you don't get lost. I think that what most people mean when they say it is "too dense." I think most casual viewers and sometimes even diehard fans just want an hour of stand-alone fun a some time. I really appreciated the Expanse's deep arc. I think I even watched the whole first 3 seasons but got turned off after they seem to have thrown Naomi's son into the mix out of nowhere. That son seemed almost as old as her and the whole story was seeming kind of a little crazy to me. Did they end up handling it well eventually?
@Roberto Vidal Garcia I really appreciate your feedback on this. I was wondering if I should still try to chip away at the show again and this is very helpful 👍. I really didn't like the whole Naomi and Marco story. It was one of the main things that made me slow down. It seems that Marco only becomes more part of the story...Thanks again.
I really love Holden's Chad moment. I think you can look at it in different ways. It's not just a character growth, but also perhaps a jadened Holden who realizes that if he doesn't take the presidency of the Transport Union, they're just going to pick someone far less capable anyway just to make sure the have that person under their thumb, as often happens with people in power. So instead, Holden has to take the position to make sure the one person who is capable gets it. That's what pisses off Avasarala the most, I believe, as now she doesn't have someone she knows and can manipulate, and instead has to deal with an equal. Also, Drummer is badass. She deserves it.
It's just doing the right thing. He didn't lie. I don't think he promised as a clause in his contract to stay on for a certain time span - gotta read the fine print hahaha - and actually Avasarala thought she had guilted and shamed and pressured Holden into accepting the role and he knew exactly what she was doing and also why, manipulative as she is. And he turned it around. Omitting facts is not lying. And fulfilling his contract as signed is also perfectly legal. Of course he knew what she expected, and he also knew that she thought she finally got him. Hahahahhaa. Joke's on you, Holden's smarter. That was so badass.
And yet she still threatened to undo the vote, one on one with him, and let him convince her otherwise. For a real bitch, politician, she is a deep character who is more open to negotiation than she appears at face value. She is one of my favorite sci fi anti-heroes in quite some time.
Oh, thank you.. The whole segment with the alien dogs was just so out of place and ended so abruptly that I just didn't know what to think of it.. This clarifies so much, except for why it was included to the detriment of giving some more attention to the central plot..
Thank you for that beautiful elegy to a series I often touted as the best classic science fiction show on TV. I hope the future holds more stories for us in this universe.
I would like to thank you AltShiftX, i started to watch your videos because of GoT. I wasn't interested in SciFi show, honestly i tought they were all boring.. But because i've saw that you had a playlist about each The Expanse season i was sure this was a hidden gem. I've watched the whole show in a week lmao (even if i m working every damn day lol). THAT WAS MAGNIFICIENT, ty ty ty! I've done my search, it seems like maybe the show will be continued, seems like Apple TV is interested :)
Pretty much every name on that list is some kind of sci-fi reference, except for a couple who are named after Naren Shankar's martial arts teachers. D. Quaid is Doug Quaid from Total Recall, A. Rogan is Alex Rogan from The Last Starfighter, E. Buck is gunnery sergeant Edward Buck from the Halo series, L. Starr is probably Lucky Starr from the Asimov novels of the same name (even if my brain immediately thought of Lone Starr from Spaceballs). The Expanse wiki has the full breakdown of the whole list.
One item is missing: The reason Book 7-9 were not adapted is that this is a separate story - that plays 30 years later. Which puts real problems on the actors, which suddenly should be 30 years later. Essentially a new series, with new casting.

You missed my favourite easter egg; when Bobbie is about to blow up the railguns, her threat scanners show one of the enemy soldiers as carrying a BFG9001
i can't believe i didn't know about the existence of the books & the tv show just a year ago, cause The Expanse just might be the best sci-fi series ever and no one talks about it?? truly underrated. hope i get to read the books in the future.
I watched the first 3 episodes and then I immediately got the books and have never looked back since, I even named my car The Rocinante 😄. Whoever came up with the visuals of the Roci taking on the Pela and the Koto, genius!
What irks me a little is that the Expanse books are kind of the blockbuster movies of the sci fi book world and with their success as a tv show they're what a lot of people now associate with literary sci fi, because the genre still has a 'kid adventure,' populist stigma attached to it. When science fiction is just a setting that allows authors both literary geniuses and mediocre to creatively mirror modern society without the restrictions that come with mandatory plausibility in regular fiction.
Just finished this beautiful series last night. I'm amazed I had never heard of it... The representation of many things in space are just so well done I can't believe it's not the standard. I loved the characters and I'd wish they would continue the story

One thing people overlook in 'Aliens' is a clever trick by the director to try and reduce mis-takes by making the footage salvagable if an actor makes a dialog error. What he did, was with the exception of the major characters (Ripley, Hicks, Gorman, Burke and the little girl Newt), all the characters had *the same first name as the actor who played them* . This meant if a minor character accidently used someones real name instead of the screen name, they wouldnt ruin the take. So we have Jenette Vasquez (Jenette Goldstien) William Hudson (William Paxton, for those not familiar, 'Bill' is short for William) Lance Bishop (Lance Henrickkson) Mark Drake (Mark Rolston) as well as many others.........
You can read the last three books after only having watched the show. While the plot is different in some ways, there is a 30 year time gap between books 6 and 7 which renders most of the differences quite irrelevant. Only things you have to be aware of is that in the books Alex is still alive and the Drummer of the books is a very different character from the show (she has only a minor part in the early books).
I hate that they badly killed Alex just because his actor did bad stuff. Hollywood prefers sacrifing story for a simple actor and I hate that. I don't care about them and I loathe people who remember birthdays of Hollywood actors.
Good Synopsis of the Final Season . Thanks for Explaining the " Dogs " . I did notice the Assault Crew names during original watching . Great Homage to those that went before .
I stumbled across this site after it was recommended by a guy that does reviews on up coming movies & series like Netflix etc. I think they were up to series 4 or 5 by the time I found it, so we binged the crap out of it & by then series 5 had ended so we just had for series 6 to be finished, what a freaking ride. I like these explained videos, especially if you have not read the books, it fills in a lot of blanks, like the alien helper dogs, I did not know that bit at all & filled in a major plot point, so thanks for making another video like this.
Not sure if this was mentioned yet, but I think "Buck, E" is a reference to GSGT Edward Buck from Halo 3: ODST. Orbital Drop Shock Trooper that drops "feet first into hell", similar to the way Bobbie and Amos do when they attack the Ring Station. Buck was voiced by none other than Nathan Fillion who you all know plays some famous SciFi characters.

@@kharilane1340 Sure, "lose" as in "no longer have possession of", but not "lose" as in "it was in my pocket yesterday and now I have NO IDEA where it is". Anyway, glad you are digging The Expanse - one of the best series I have ever watched.
In my humble opinion, the best sci-fi show ever made! Believable physics, focus on the human element, good writing, solid mystery, great characters. I truly wish the adapt the last 3 books someday!
The Expanse is easily one of my favourite shows; I really wasn't expecting it to be so good. I wonder if the shows are enough to start reading the last 3 books, though. I'd really like to know more about the Duarte and Laconia plot lines.
I'm not very optimistic about continuation of the series. Star Gate Universe also had a natural pause (just as it got good) and they never got awaken. But this is better than what we got with multitude of other series ends.
"At the start of The Expanse, Holden turned down a job because maturity. At the end of The Expanse, he turns down a job because maturity." - James S.A. Corey, talking about the TV show
Still wished Titan could have made it in S6. Having read the books, I miss a lot of 'scenes' but still they managed to fit in or make altered versions that are a nice nod to the books. It is just a shame Dawes could not be back and they had to cut down the runtime to 6 episodes, and also Covid hit.
Really liked the video! I'm new to The Expanse and just finished the series-I think it is a great show and hope they do continue it. Now on to the books!
I didn't even realise this was the final season lol, I was still waiting for more. They did Alex dirty, but I guess it's good to have some kind of tangible stakes in such epic storylines. I liked Drummer being the Queen of space, but relations between Earth and Mars and the ring space and all that... All in all a lot of questions left unanswered to me.
@@argosime Though it would have been funny as hell is all of a sudden they put say, Dave Chappelle in the role. "Are y'all hungry...BITCHES!!! Have some pancakes."
The simpsonesque "My planet needs me" way they wrote Alex out. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Shame, was a well written character, and very well played. Did the guy ever get convicted/do any jail time for his behaviour?

I'm sad this is the last season. I was REALLY looking forward to seeing more Amos. He's BY FAR my favorite character. He's like a true psychopath who's somehow able to suppress half those instincts and do it long term. If you were ever in a real fight, Amos is the guy you'd want at your back, that's for sure. Though let's be honest here, the entire show is rife with ridiculously awesome characters. I'd almost pay good money to see a throwdown between Amos and Bobby. They'd probably have to have rules and a ref though to keep from killing each other. :P
I'm glad they didn't ruin it. Usually at this point writers, etc, ruin a series. That's why I appreciate Firefly series. I wanted more when it got cancelled, but I'm to the point I hate it more when a series runs until it's painful to watch anymore, like G.O.T did.
@@bl8388: I actually liked the later parts of GOT better to be honest. The early bits were too psychopathic and "let's throw reality in your face, humans can be terrible to each other". It's like they hurt and killed characters just to prove they could. Ah well, whatever floats each of our proverbial boats! :)
In the books there IS a fight between Amos and Bobbie. Amos becomes increasingly unstable after Clarissa's death and when he finally, explosively pops, Bobbie is the one in the room. I don't want to spoil it for you. You'll have to read the books to find out how it turns out, but, no, there *really were no rules.
I think I am with you, but there is just a nagging feeling that there was some little sci fi show that was really really good. But i cant think of it, so codify the list!!
I loved the Alien Dogs plot. Emma Ho, the girl playing Cara, did an amazing job. I really adore the scene where Duarte talks to Cara after Xan death, explaining what sacrifice means. Top notch scene, perhaps my favorite of season 6.
Hey I know there's not a ton of hype around this show anymore, but it would be amazing to see a breakdown of the lore and intricacies that take place in the story after the 6th book
23:49 I also add to AMOS that the devil mask symbol is actually a methaphorical way to depict him. Behind massiv anger and violence... he's actually a good guy. Something our actual society has forgot : to protect peace and fight evil... sometimes... you have to be evil. Something you see in AMO's transist to earth in season 4 (or 5 i don't remember), where he smashes thugs and enjoys it. It also vents his anger and makes him a better man. It gives him purpose while sending and direct message to evil persons : you are a wolf craving for sheeps... but watch out... some dogs are out there ready to bite... The Expanse tv show is fantastic and your conclusions are excellent. As usual with this channel : thank you and keep doing this kind of work ! N.B : note that anger is always motivated and so a reaction to violence. Hate is gratuitous. Cheers !
Read / listen to the books - I think you can find them free on TH-cam. Books are generally a good idea because they explain some situations so much better.
If we get season 7-9 at some point in the far future, youre going to have your hands full with Expanse videos. Laconia and the outer colonies is one grand beast.

Ashford was so amazing too, I almost cried when he died.
I'm baffled that they didn't wanna make anymore seasons, this was one of the better shows of this time
im sure they want to make more, the problem is the stress and effort they go through for the 6 seasons to bring their vision of the story to life. They might be creatively exhausted so maybe taking a break from the expanse will bring a better expanse then a rushed one straight away
There's a 30 year gap so it's possible they're going to wait a while for the next seasons
I'm not baffled that Amazon doesn't want to _pay_ for more seasons.

This show was filled to the brim with characters step above the best characters of any other show. For me, the best sci-fi show ever made.
If you want another show with excellent character development, I would really recommend the reimagined Battlestar Galactica series. It has cool space battles, but it also really goes into the human aspect of fighting to survive and losses along the way.
For me, it is a very close second to BSG. Jim Holden is my all time favorite sci-fi protagonist though.
@@randomstuffbychrisso say we all.
@wulozhero6684 This is far more balanced , fleshed out, well acted, directed, written, and rooted in the human condition facing alien. Bsg biggest off-putting is the mess of soap opera drama.

@@thedon7180 On can hope.
Cara Gee...Hubba Hubba!!!
Agreed
Drummer ended up being my favorite character. The best thing about this series was that character changed as things progressed. In many shows the characters are basically always the same no matter what happens to them. It makes this show realistic with how alliances changes and politics and relationships. This show had exelent characters and I loved them. And I loved the way they dealt with Phillip. Kind of like how Naomi in the end saved his son, although she never would know it.
@@SorbusAucubaria Best Scifi series I've watched in a long time. I really wish they could've made more seasons.
I wish this season hadn't been so rushed - so much was left hanging/teased.
Same! But I think they are hoping to get another series or a miniseries going. Plus I also heard that the authors are currently working on a new series it'll be very different from the expanse so perhaps they want to take a step back and figure out what to do if anything is done with the expanse further beyond their book series.
I think it was funding issue more than anything
I watched every other season over and over again ....i only felt the need to watch the last season once....meh
Neomi is a mass murderer thanks to her beloved X. She has no delusions of ever being in a possition to judge anyone.

There's a reason Alt likes this show, it's really good! 😄

I also think it was absolutely perfect. Because it so vastly expands the horizon of the series. And it's called "The Expanse" for a reason.
Yeah, the kids were awesome.
Those actors are siblings, they end up in a decent amount of sci-fi stuff, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds for example.
its absurd how this show has so little coverage, its one of the very best sci fi TV shows ever created, i absolutely loved it.
Totally agree .
@Roberto Vidal Garcia Not really, maybe most of your friends are just ape brains. It doesn't instantly click with you until like ep 4, which is probably why people dropped it.
@Roberto Vidal Garcia I mean, Bridgerton is the most watched show on Netflix, that should tell you all you need to know lol
You can just call it Holden's moment, people will understand without the OMAGAD GIGACHAD OMEGALUL GET IT GUYS
And yet she still threatened to undo the vote, one on one with him, and let him convince her otherwise. For a real bitch, politician, she is a deep character who is more open to negotiation than she appears at face value.
She is one of my favorite sci fi anti-heroes in quite some time.
In the books, one of the reasons Avasarala tries to choose Holden is specifically because she knows he can't be manipulated.

So we have Jenette Vasquez (Jenette Goldstien)
William Hudson (William Paxton, for those not familiar, 'Bill' is short for William)
Lance Bishop (Lance Henrickkson)
Mark Drake (Mark Rolston)
as well as many others.........
Excellent job. This ranks is one of my very favorite science fiction series. You did it good justice!

Just finished the last 3 books...you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't read them
Do it. I absolutely and unequivocally recommend you do it. It is SO worth the pay off!
This helped so much. Made a confusing, disjointed season feel more legitimate and true. Thank you
Super excellent narration and commentary, sir. People should take notes!
I'm not very optimistic about continuation of the series. Star Gate Universe also had a natural pause (just as it got good) and they never got awaken. But this is better than what we got with multitude of other series ends.
Another well done video. Thanks for all your hard work!
"At the start of The Expanse, Holden turned down a job because maturity. At the end of The Expanse, he turns down a job because maturity." - James S.A. Corey, talking about the TV show
i think one aspect of your channel that is underrated is how fucking funny you are
Still wished Titan could have made it in S6. Having read the books, I miss a lot of 'scenes' but still they managed to fit in or make altered versions that are a nice nod to the books. It is just a shame Dawes could not be back and they had to cut down the runtime to 6 episodes, and also Covid hit.
Great video, really enjoyed watching and hearing comparisons with the books since I haven't read them as yet.
Really liked the video! I'm new to The Expanse and just finished the series-I think it is a great show and hope they do continue it. Now on to the books!
Massively cool. Thanks for creating this.
To be fair the actor who played Alex was fired from the show for sexual harassment.
Like the other dude said, they didn't have a choice since they had to fire Alex's actor. I think killing him off was better than using another actor.
@@argosime Though it would have been funny as hell is all of a sudden they put say, Dave Chappelle in the role. "Are y'all hungry...BITCHES!!! Have some pancakes."
The simpsonesque "My planet needs me" way they wrote Alex out. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Shame, was a well written character, and very well played. Did the guy ever get convicted/do any jail time for his behaviour?
@@13thdukeofwybourne69 I'm not sure and don't feel like looking it up, but I know he admitted/apologized for it.
It sucked so bad cuz he was a huge part of getting the show back on air, I remember him really leading that effort.
It’s been a few years since I saw your videos but they are always top notch 👍 I’m glad I found my way back to them. Subscribe.
@@GamingHelp Hah. You probably liked the ending of the Lost TV series, too. Be honest. 😀
@@bl8388: Lol! No idea, I've never seen it. :P
Thank you thank you thank you for making this video
Imo, the Expanse is the best sci-fi series of all time. It replaces Babylon 5, and Battlestar Galactica is my #3.
Love Battle star. Its a much better effort than the Expanse which I also thought was good. Better storyline and better characters in BSG.
I think I am with you, but there is just a nagging feeling that there was some little sci fi show that was really really good. But i cant think of it, so codify the list!!
Another great journey thru another great series with you -- As always, a great recap -- -- Looking forward to many more!
I loved the Alien Dogs plot. Emma Ho, the girl playing Cara, did an amazing job. I really adore the scene where Duarte talks to Cara after Xan death, explaining what sacrifice means. Top notch scene, perhaps my favorite of season 6.
It’s been a privilege to watch your videos, sir.
Cheers !
Funny how this video is on my "home" tab, but not on my "subscriptions" tab. TH-cam at it again.
Great video! I've read the later books and look forward to their adaptation for TV, just hoping there isn't too long a wait.
Why is it I pick up a great show to find out there is no season after a cliffhanger......what did I do to deserve this!?
Read / listen to the books - I think you can find them free on TH-cam.
Books are generally a good idea because they explain some situations so much better.
To add to Michael H's comment, the Audible version of the books have an outstanding narrator in Jefferson Mays.
@Anne O'Nymous yeah it is.
If we get season 7-9 at some point in the far future, youre going to have your hands full with Expanse videos. Laconia and the outer colonies is one grand beast.
This was an excellent show. It's a shame it ended.
I am so glad I saw this video!!....
I finished Season 6 & was amazed but all the way through the series I felt things were a bit disjointed & difficult to follow so just thought that it was more aimed at folks who already knew the storyline.....
Then I saw your video & realised there was so much I didn't know or really had never understood so was greatful for the insight............& then found out there were three more bookes to go so that is a BIG WIN!
Thank you again for your video & information.....much appreciated!
Merry Christmas to You & your Family & I hope it's a good one! 🎄🎄
I’m going to have to get the books to see how it all plays out. Though with three remaining, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them done on the big screen as a trilogy.
just want to thank you for the awesome explanation and what an amazing video :)
Can't believe Kara Thrace (Battlestar Galactica + EDI from ME3) was missed in the easter eggs of names!
Also Douglas Quaid from Total Recall is on there, on the left hand side of the names.
Jason Nesmith from Galaxy Quest
Kevin Flynn - Tron
The character she played in Battlestar Galactica isn't really memorial in any way. Nor was the original Starbuck in the first TV series.
I miss this show so much....please bring it back!
Man I loved season 6 so much. I currently have the books Leviathan Wakes(1) and Caliban’s War(2) and plan to buy more while reading. I recommend them!
enjoy. it is slightly different from the series. just as good if not better, just more detail and small deviations
I haven't yet but this is one of the few television shows that makes me want to check out the books. And I'm not a heavy reader. Such great storytelling. This show will be missed. But I appreciate that they were allowed to end it well.
@@Wizznilliam try the audiobooks if you are not a reader. They are MAGNIFICIENT
@@demonofthefail
That's a great idea actually that I hadn't considered. Thanks!
@@Wizznilliam It has a complete story with a full completed ending that can now only be achieved by the books :) Also the audiobooks are FANTASTICALLY read so if physical books aren't your thing, consider an audible listen
Brilliant video, man, as always
Why did this videos not appear on my subscriptions tap ? Only when i enter the channel i see the video.
Same here, this was suggested to me and it is not on my sub page. I had to double check to make sure I was still subbed.
Same for me. It showed up in my recommendations but not on my subscriptions page. Would have been here sooner ...
I'm so sad that the show was cancelled... i particularly prefer medieval themes such as lord of the rings and game of thrones... but The expanse was so good as the two and convinced me that this show , is the best show of the genre. i didn't know that the show was based on books, and now that i know, i'll finish the show reading the books.
Thanks for the video, it was a nice refreshing video of the past events .
I like how he concedes James Holden Is very handsome. 😅
10:03 Kara Thrace , that is the name of starbuc in BSG
If i recall right there was a charachter named Shepard in Firefly
you missed "Cooper, J" which may either be an Interstellar reference (Joseph Cooper) or a Titanfall 2 reference (Jack Cooper), probably the former.
I would actually guess that jack cooper is meant, as these are ground assault soldiers that are represented there and id guess a pilot would fit right in there, even without a Titan.
also E. Buck could be Edward Buck a prevalent ODST from Halo
@@BxPxB Could be? Nah, has to be. Dude's in a drop pod and Buck's voiced by Nathan Fillion. How could they not have some connection to another SyFy show that got cancelled.
